The XPS line from Dell has been a mainstay in my family for desktops since I can remember. It was 4 years ago that I purchased with my dad's credit card an XPS 400 and a 20 inch Widescreen LCD, and despite 3 heavy computer users, including my sister who has the computer touch-of-death, the computer still runs as quickly when I got, and thanks to the 256MB 7800GT, it runs games smoothly. This laptop was a steal (did I mention I got three years of McAfee, a four year warranty, accident damage protection for 4 years, and LoJack [for four years]) at just 1,850$. I buy laptops nearly maxed out because I expect them to be my workhorse for four-plus years. My favorite thus far has been the LED screen, which as it turns out can now alter its brightness... Windows. I would suggest this laptop very highly.

80% Dell XPS M1530 Thin and Light Notebook PC

Dell has a very strong platform for a thin and light notebook with the Dell XPS M1530. It is highly customizable and provides very strong performance thanks to its large hard drive, lots of memory and strong processor. The biggest downsides to the M1530 are its relatively high price and display that is great indoors but poor in outdoor environments.

The audio is an Azalea HD Audio codec. The speakers themselves on the unit aren't very powerful, and sound somewhat tinny, though that will probably smooth out as the speakers get broken in.
One thing I'm somewhat disappointed in is the lack of a locking mechanism on the lid, you just push closed and open again without any way of keeping it closed while transporting it. Otherwise I'm loving it very much, and am very satisfied with it.

Make no mistake, the Dell XPS M1530 is a simply fantastic laptop. If portability is high on your agenda then its more petite stablemate, the XPS M1330, is a better choice, but with its fine combination of ergonomics, power and design, the XPS M1530 is the finest 15.4in laptop we've ever encountered. A superb laptop, combining excellent ergonomics and slick looks with a good dollop of power.

I really love the XPS M1530 in terms of its looks and just overall cool factor. The performance for this sized notebook is absolutely amazing as well. This notebook is great for those that want to be portable and have power on the go, plus be fashionable at the same time. If you're just sitting at a desk all day doing work. Overall there's a lot to love about the M1530 and it's easy to recommend.

I have yet to do a proper drain test of the 6 cell battery, so please excuse this asl a work in progress. One other thought is that the fingerprint reader doesn't seem to work for MbWife, however it works just fine for me. Maybe she's a spy? We'll have to tune in later for that one... I will say that my intial impression is very favorable. I like this laptop very much and would recommend it to anyone.

The good: Thin, sexy design; strong performance; includes media remote control and HDMI output. The bad: Not as revolutionary as the previous 13-inch version; fewer configuration options than Dell's Inspiron line. The bottom line: Dell's turn toward a "design-first" philosophy continues to pay off with the XPS M1530, easily the best-looking 15-inch laptop in recent memory.

Overall, the Dell XPS M1530 is a solid addition to the Dell notebook lineup. We praised the smaller XPS M1330 for having "a design that is second to none in its price range" but we didn't feel quite as strong about the design of the larger M1530. While this is certainly the hottest 15.4" notebook available from Dell, it's hard to shake the feeling that we're looking at a "fat" M1330 with a larger screen.
While issues like a noisy slot-loading drive, noisy hard drive, and limited screen options will make some demanding buyers look elsewhere, the M1530 is an excellent alternative to HP's popular dv6500t notebook in the same price range.

NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT: La NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT est le successeur direct X 10 de la GeForce Go 7600 GT pour ordinateurs portables, Selon la VRAM et la cadence du processeur, sa performance est entre la carte graphique 7600 GT et la 7900 GS.
Docn les jeux récents comme Company of Heroes, Supreme Commander ou F.E.A.R tournerons de façon fluide avec les détails à fond et une résolution de 1024 ou similaire. Les joueurs qui veulent des taux de rafraichissements élevés devraient attendre la série 8800 de chez NVidia.

Ces cartes devraient être capables de faire tourner tout les jeux d'aujourd'hui, mais la plupart d'entre eux uniquement en détails moyens ou faibles et avec des résolution basses. Les plus vieux jeux ou les jeux moins gourmands restent jouables avec de beaux graphismes.

Intel Core 2 Duo:

C'est le successeur du Core Duo avec des pipelines 5-20% plus rapides sans consommation supplémentaire. Comme une addition à la conception du core duo là existe un quatrième décodeur, une SSE-unité amplifiée et une unité logique arithmétique additionnelle (ALU). Le core 2 duo pour ordinateurs portables est identique aux processeurs de core 2 duo d'ordinateur de bureau mais les portables fonctionnent avec des tensions inférieures et une vitesse de Frontside.
