Beyond looks the Y580 is a definite powerhouse. The quad core Intel i7-3610QM can handle pretty much any task a normal user would throw at it and more intensive tasks like video editing and Photoshop. The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M discrete graphics will allow you to play pretty much any game out there, but if you want to play them at the full 1920 x 1080 resolution you may need to turn the settings down a bit. For the most part you can play games at high or medium settings and they will be smooth and crisp. Most people gaming on a laptop can accept lower resolutions or settings. For those wanting this to be something like a desktop replacement this is pretty close.

The Y580 is not only a beautifully styled laptop, it also offers great performance in just about every area. It feels like it will take a fair amount of abuse, which is what it will get if the laptop is purchased for a student. The discrete NVidia GeForce GTX 660m graphics give the Y580 much more responsiveness in video that would bring the integrated Intel HD 4000 to a crawl, but gamers will not be able to use the full 1920 x 1080 resolution without dropping the frame rate to an unacceptable level.

Lenovo’s IdeaPad Y580 is unquestionably an appealing, solid performer, particularly if you consume movies and music and prefer a 15-inch display for multitasking—perhaps editing documents while number-crunching with the keyboard’s separate numeric pad. While the Y580’s $1,699 list price may lead some to the comparable Dell XPS 15, which was superlative in our tests, or Apple's $1,799 MacBook Pro (without Retina display), as the song says, you better shop around.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Y580 gives plenty of bang for the buck and almost entirely eliminates the need for a desktop altogether. It features a dazzling screen with 1080p resolution, a built-in Blu-ray player, and even a full-sized keyboard on top of superlative multimedia and gaming capabilities. While the HP Envy 17 (2012) offers a similar smorgasbord of features, the Y580 nonetheless outguns it while costing nearly $400 less. For these reasons, we're willing to overlook its so-so battery life, and it rightfully earns its place as our Editors' Choice for media laptops.

With Lenovo dropping out of the larger 17-inch laptop market, they have shifted their 15-inch IdeaPad Y580 to be their high performance laptop. The new Ivy Bridge processor with NVIDIA graphics give it superb performance regardless of the type of application you intend to use. Be warned though, heavy use can cause some excessive noise from the cooling fan.

Serious gamers who want the highest frames rates and graphics details all at full-HD resolution will prefer a dedicated gaming laptop that has a more powerful graphics card. Commentaire

Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" de la légende anglaise, novo (latin) pour nouveau) a été fondée en 1984 en tant que société chinoise de commerce d'ordinateurs. En 2004, la société était le plus grand fabricant d'ordinateurs portables en Chine et, après l'acquisition de la division PC d'IBM en 2005, le quatrième au monde. En plus des ordinateurs de bureau et des ordinateurs portables, la société fabrique des moniteurs, des projecteurs, des serveurs, etc., et se spécialise dans le développement, la fabrication et la commercialisation d'électronique grand public, d'ordinateurs personnels, de logiciels, de solutions d'entreprise et de services connexes.

En 2016, l'entreprise s'est classée au premier rang mondial des ventes d'ordinateurs. Il le détenait encore en 2023 avec environ 23% de part de marché mondiale. Les gammes de produits importantes sont Thinkpad, Legion et Ideapad.

En 2011, elle a acquis une participation majoritaire dans Medion AG, un fabricant européen de matériel informatique. En 2014, Motorola Mobility a été racheté, ce qui a donné un coup de pouce à Lenovo sur le marché des smartphones.

Ces cartes devraient être capables de faire tourner tout les jeux d'aujourd'hui, mais la plupart d'entre eux uniquement en détails moyens ou faibles et avec des résolution basses. Les plus vieux jeux ou les jeux moins gourmands restent jouables avec de beaux graphismes.
