We loved the price and the (almost) faithful design to the Series 9 range. The chassis is super-thin and extremely stylish, as long as you look past the redesigned lid. Overall it's a good-looking machine and at face value it knocks the socks off the competition in terms of aesthetics. Our list of disappointments reads like a naughty schoolboy's report card. The blurry, poor-resolution screen, the plastic lid, the poor benchmark scores, and the own-brand chip all make for sorry reading. Some of these negatives are simply down to cost-cutting measures, and it's important to remember that this Samsung model exists for those on a budget. But you only have to look as far as the Asus Zenbook S200 or the VivoBook S400 for an altogether more impressive low-cost machine.

It's not a speed demon and is no good for games, but you won't find many laptops as light and portable and a good at this price. We do recommend you buy the non-touchscreen version, though. It's £100 cheaper, a bit lighter and is identical in every other way.

For a better touch-screen laptop at a similar price, the Editors' Choice Lenovo IdeaPad U430 Touch is still the better option.

I started off liking the Samsung Ativ Book 9 Lite. Its plastic casing didn't bother me as I appreciated its light weight and slim form factor, carrying it around a lot and rarely running out of juice. The graphics performance was also pleasing, on the whole. Even the vague suggestion that this laptop could be running a tablet chip didn't appear to be an encumbrance. Yes, I was prepared to be quite forgiving as I spent most of my time with it presuming it cost £400, which even then seemed a bit on the high side. It was only later I discovered its £500 pricetag, which rather took the shine off things for me. Surely, if you're touting a product as a Lite model, it really should be light on the wallet too – and especially so if you've something to hide.

Of course when we start criticising a laptop for having a too-high-resolution screen and not being quite powerful enough for high-end gaming, we are being overly picky. You don't buy an Ultrabook for hardcore gaming - you buy an Alienware 17 or PlayStation Vita Slim. And as far as the screen goes, well, that's more of a Windows 8.1 flaw than any fault of the Ativ Book 9 Plus. That said, this isn't quite the MacBook-beater we were hoping for. It still feels a little underpowered given its high price, and if you're after a Windows 8.1-running Ultrabook, we'd go for the Asus Zenbook UX302 instead. Still, lovely screen.

The Samsung ATIV Book 9 is still one of the most stylish Ultrabooks out there. It combines that with performance and productivity in a well-balanced package with no major issues to speak of. Compared to the previous version of the ATIV/Series9 Haswell it offers big battery life advantages over Ivy Bridge but we question the need for such a high DPI screen considering the issues with some applications on the desktop. Touch, we feel, is becoming more and more useful as users adapt and Windows 8 Modern UI apps evolve. It would have been nice to see AC support on the WiFi, the inclusion of the important port adaptors and maybe next time round Samsung will need to think about WiGig but as it is, the Samsung ATIV Book 9 is an extremely strong Ultrabook offering that, in many respects, leads the way.

Take a beautiful Windows ultrabook design. Add a super-high-resolution touch screen and longer-battery-life Intel Haswell processor. What could be wrong with that? If you’re just looking for an all-around excellently made Windows touch ultrabook and don’t mind that it's on the expensive side (and doesn’t convert to a tablet), the improved Samsung Ativ Book 9 Plus is worth the investment.

What were Samsung thinking of when they designed this notebook? Perhaps it is aimed at those who desire portability, ease of use and modest computing power while wanting something bigger than a tablet with a keyboard, all at a reasonable price. Anyone upgrading from a netbook to this model would appreciate the larger screen and much better responsiveness. Samsung have also catered for both those who want a touchscreen notebook and for those who don't. They could well be watching the sales statistics with interest given Intel's view that touchscreen is the only way forward for the smaller notebooks.

This is a small and light Windows 8 notebook with touch. If you are looking for a small and light notebook then the Samsung Aviv Book 915s should certainly be on your short list, despite the poor Experience score it was responsive on all tasks and everything I installed ran correctly.

Un modèle perfectible. Fin, élégant, racé... et coûteux. Le tout dernier Ultrabook de la gamme à succès Samsung ATIV 9-series affiche de grandes ambitions quant à son avenir, mais ce dernier ne peut convaincre que par son apparence. Malheureusement pour lui, sa prestation n'est pas sans défauts ce qui le prive d'une très bonne note, bien que la plupart de ces petites erreurs de jeunesse se corrigent avec une simple mise à jour.

While I was sad to see that the Samsung Ativ Book 9 2014 Edition didn't offer the same higher-than-HD screen seen on the previous Book 9 Plus, it was one of the only disappointments in an otherwise premium ultraportable. The slim design and sturdy aluminum build is just as impressive as ever, and the larger 15.6-inch display offers more screen real estate in roughly the same package, not to mention the all-day battery life, a healthy port selection, and improvements to the keyboard and sound quality. Samsung ATIV Book 9 Pro

We had no trouble deciding to give the Samsung ATIV Book 9 Pro four stars on our five-star rating scale. It's relatively trim for a 15.6-inch laptop, squeezing under the four-and-a-half-pound line. Its display and keyboard are both above average, and its sound well above average. Except for some screen wobble, it's solidly built.

Samsung: Le groupe Samsung est le plus grand conglomérat sud-coréen et a été fondé en 1938. Le groupe Samsung employait 489 000 personnes en 2014 et est l'une des plus grandes entreprises au monde en termes de chiffre d'affaires et de force de marché. Le nom Samsung signifie "Trois étoiles" en coréen et représente les trois fils du fondateur de l'entreprise. L'entreprise a été fondée en 1938 en tant qu'épicerie. Avec sa filiale Samsung Electronics, fondée en 1969, Samsung s'est lancé très tôt dans la production d'articles électrotechniques, en se concentrant sur l'électronique grand public et l'électroménager. Les autres branches dans lesquelles la grande entreprise est active comprennent la construction mécanique, l'automobile (Hyundai), l'assurance, le commerce de gros, l'immobilier et les loisirs. Samsung fabrique une large gamme de produits électroniques, notamment des smartphones, des téléviseurs, des appareils électroménagers et des semi-conducteurs. La gamme de smartphones Galaxy de la société est l'une des plus populaires au monde. La plupart des jeux pas trop demandants actuels peuvent tourner de façon fluide. soyez prêts à endurer un rendu graphique assez moche à cause de la basse résolution et des détails au minimum. Par ailleurs ces cartes sont suffisantes pour un travail de bureau et le visionnage de vidéos (pas évident pour la vidéo HD).
Intel HD Graphics 4000:
Carte graphique intégrée aux processeurs de la génération Ivy Bridge. Possède des fréquences différentes selon les processeurs (du ULV au quad core de bureau) et donc des performances différentes.
Intel HD Graphics 4400:
GPU intégré à certains processeurs ULV (GT2) avec 20 EU de la gamme Haswell.
Intel HD Graphics 4600:
Carte graphique intégrée au processeur que l'on trouve dans de nombreux CPU Haswell. Sa fréquence varie selon CPU.
Intel HD Graphics 5300:
Carte graphique intégrée (GT2) à certains processeurs Core M (gamme Y) de génération Broadwell (TDP de 4,5 W).
Seuls les vieux jeux peuvent tourner de façon fluide sur ces ordinateurs (S'ils ne sont pas trop gourmands en ressources). Les coeurs à mémoire partagée de cette catégorie ont l'avantage d'être moins chaud et moins gourmand en énergie. Pour le bureau, internet, l'édition de photos, et le montage vidéo ces cartes graphiques n'ont aucune restrictions.
AMD Radeon HD 8250:
GPU intégré aux processeurs de type APU AMD A6-1450 ("Temash"). Basée sur l'architecture GCN, intègre 128 unités de shaders et cadencé entre 300 et 400 MHz.
Ces cartes devraient être capables de faire tourner tout les jeux d'aujourd'hui, mais la plupart d'entre eux uniquement en détails moyens ou faibles et avec des résolution basses. Les plus vieux jeux ou les jeux moins gourmands restent jouables avec de beaux graphismes.
Intel HD Graphics 520:
Carte graphique intégrée (GT2) à certains processeurs Core ULV Ultra Basse Tension de génération Skylake (TDP de 15 W). Embarque 24 unités d'exécution
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M:
Carte graphique positionnée en tant qu'entrée du haut-de-gamme de la famille GeForce GTX900M, basée sur l'architecture Maxwell.

3337U: Processeur Ivy-Bridge ULV du premier trimestre 2013. Avec une cadence de 1.8 - 2.7 GHz et un GPU HD 4000 (350 - 1100 MHz). Le TDP fait 17 W.
4200U: L'Intel Core i5-4200U est un processeur Haswell ULV (Ultra Basse Tension) dual-core cadencé à 1,6 GHz dont le mode Turbo Boost surcadence le processeur jusqu'à 2,6 GHz. Il offre une puce graphique intégrée HD Graphics 4400 et un contrôleur mémoire double canal DDR3.
AMD A-Series:
A6-1450: L'AMD A4-1450 est un processeur APU quad-core mobile pour tablettes et ordinateurs portables, nom de code Temash. Basé sur l'architecture Jaguar, il intègre une carte graphique Radeon HD 8250.
Intel Core i7:
