Netbook Toshiba NB, Episode 2. Comme le NB 100 de 8,9 pouces a été récemment dans notre laboratoire de test, maintenant le deuxième coup de Toshiba en termes de netbook, le NB 200, est déjà sur le banc d'essai. Cette fois, cependant, avec un écran 10,1 pouces pour une meilleure vue d'ensemble. Reste à savoir si le Toshiba NB 200 peut être considéré comme l'héritier du NB 100, vu que le matériel mis en œuvre dans les deux modèles est en grande partie comparable, ou si c'est simplement un rafraîchissement du NB 100 avec un écran plus large et une apparence modifiée.

If there’s one conclusion that I can come up with for the NB200 it’s this — this netbook is the one to buy if you like a small, cheap computer without looking like you bought a small cheap computer. Performance is not too shabby either, especially the keyboard. While battery issues can be solved by buying the extended battery, I’d have preferred it if Toshiba had just put in a better set of speakers into the netbook as I often use mine for watching movies while on the go. However those are really minor niggles, especially when you consider that you get a pretty high quality and nice-looking notebook for RM1,699.

Toshiba’s first attempt at a 10-inch netbook has delivered one of the most distinctive models on the market today. The company has shown that portable, value computing does not mean that you need to compromise on looks and desirability. The Satin Brown NB200-10Z that we tested is superbly designed with a great exterior and interior colour scheme. We love the fact that the lid is not a fingerprint magnet unlike so many other netbooks with their glossy lids.

After spending some time with the NB205 it’s clear that this is a prime candidate for the hot netbook of the month. Toshiba got a lot right with this, including the design, the input devices, the size, and even the price. Of course there are some minor stumbles with the battery, performance, and sound, plus it’s not the lightest model out there, but it’s still a competitive machine. It’s probably not the best netbook on the market, but it’s not one to cross off your list without trying out, especially if you need the battery life. Note: The model we tested and photographed was the NB205-N312BL. There are other models in the NB200 series, not all of which have the same keyboard. This is a major selling point so users should be careful, especially if a model is $349 instead of $399. Laptop Mag has a photo and breakdown.

EN→FR Archive.org versionToshiba can't be blamed for the lack of evolution in the netbook platform, however infuriating it might be. Until someone deigns progress necessary (or nVidia ION systems begin to hit the shelves) all any company can do is make the best product possible under the limitations created by Microsoft and Intel. Toshiba has done just that with its second netbook, the NB200. Though it's bound by common restrictions, Toshiba has managed to add one or two unique features of its own and delivers in the all the right areas. There's no shortage of good netbooks these days, but the NB200 is definitely one of the best.

There are several build options, and the NB200-123 model we tested includes the useful 3G modem and 6-cell battery. Models without the modem can be found for well under £300 if you don’t need the added connectivity. For solid build, excellent battery life and good interface components, the Toshiba NB200 earns a hearty recommendation.

This is about as high end as a low-end laptop gets. We admire Toshiba for finding a design hook, hanging itself off it, and resolutely staying there no matter how loudly the world shouts: the look of the NB200 we recieved is best summed up as 'diagonal stripes and plastic'. The jump from an 8.9-inch form factor in the NB100 to the 10.1-inch design here places the NB200 firmly in line with its rivals. Aside from the excellent battery life, it has no stand-out features, but it still remains a highly attractive and well-made netbook. It may not move the game on, then, but it’s among the best netbooks currently available.

The Toshiba NB200 is a solid all-around netbook that can be a good traveling companion. The lack of a built-in optical drive does not affect the usage of the system. Even with just the b/g wireless device, I am able to connect to all home and work networks with ease. Using the standard resolution the screen offers good clear viewing during browsing, office works and media playback. Surprisingly the speakers are clear for a small foot print notebook. I am further pleased by Windows 7 Ultimate performance on this comp. There is no shortage in system resources when switching between tasks.

Toshiba:
Toshiba Corporation est un conglomérat ou groupe technologique japonais. La société a été créée en 1939 et en 1978, Toshiba est devenue le nom officiel de la société. Les produits et services de l'entreprise comprennent des systèmes d'infrastructure électrique, industrielle et sociale, des ascenseurs et des escaliers mécaniques, des composants électroniques, des semi-conducteurs, des disques durs, des imprimantes, des batteries, l'éclairage, la logistique et les technologies de l'information. Ses cartes graphiques ne sont pas faites pour le jeu. Et même si ils tournent, ce sera avec des erreurs d'affichage et un framerate ignoble. Intel Atom:
Le processeur Intel Atom est un microprocesseur 64-bits pour ordinateurs portables petits et bon marché, les MIDs ou UMPC. La spécialité de la nouvelle architecture est dans le mode d'exécution "in order" (au lieu de l'habituel et plus rapide mode d'exécution "out of order"). Par conséquent, le coût du transistor de la série Atom est beaucoup plus faible, et donc moins cher à produire.
N270: Un processeur pas cher pas puissant mais avec une basse consommation. Mais au Mhz près il est moins puissant que la concurrence.
N280: Processeur mono core peu puissant mais pas cher et économe. il est moins puissant au Mhz que ls Core Solo ou Celeron M. Comparé aux N270, le N280 est à peine plus puissant.
