At R19 999 (RRP), the HONOR 200 Pro 5G is not a cheap piece of hardware. Sitting between the top end of premium mid-range phones and fully fledged flagship ones, it needs to deliver in all aspects. Thankfully HONOR has kitted it out with components that are top notch, as it is rapid when it comes to multitasking, has a great display and battery life, and features a unique design to help it stand out from the crowd. Where the 200 Pro 5G really sets itself apart, however, is in the camera experience. Outside of the Harcourt portait photography, which is unique to this model, in almost every scenario it yields superb imagery. With the margins being as fine as they are in this space for a smartphone to get noticed, the HONOR 200 Pro 5G does so with its fantastic photography capabilities.

If you're looking for a good mid-range phone with decent performance, a big battery, a good display, and a really good camera setup, then you should definitely check out the Honor 200. Sure it has a few niggles but overall it is a fairly competent package. But of the two, understandably, the Honor 200 Pro is truly a "pro" phone - especially in its impressive camera system and portrait photography mode. The filters, in collaboration with Studio Harcourt, truly give users studio-like photographs. There are some good phones out there in both Rs 40,000 price range and Rs 60,000 price range. Yet, it is good to see that Honor is making a strong statement with the Honor 200 Pro and Honor 200. Both phones not only have top of the line - for their price - chipsets, they also have top class displays and an attractive design.

Priced at Rs 57,999, the HONOR 200 Pro stands out as a high-end smartphone with a balance of design, performance, and features. However, given the competitive market, the HONOR 200 Pro appears expensive, especially when compared to other flagship models offering similar features at a lower price point. While the HONOR 200 Pro is appealing, it will find itself catching up with competition in India’s lucrative premium smartphone market.

Compared to last year’s Honor 90, the Honor 200 Pro offers heaps of thoughtful upgrades and refinements. The brand’s partnership with Harcourt also adds new excitement to the overall camera segment. My software experience with the MagicOS 8 was pleasant, but Honor must consider reducing the pre-installed apps on the smartphone to compete successfully against Motorola and OnePlus. It may also consider providing a charger in the box as users currently have to rely on a single official distributor (Amazon India) for proprietary accessories. The biggest takeaway for Honor might be to adopt a more thoughtful pricing strategy to gain an edge over established rivals.

The Honor 200 Pro is a great device that has focused heavily on it’s camera skills, which is a good thing as it does work very well as. Camera particularly in close quarters. That being said it is by no means a one trick pony as it is a component phone for gaming and never let me down on the performance side of things. Whilst it is not quite flagship tier, it is so close that it is actually difficult to class it’s position in the brands lineup. I see it this way, if you want the top of the line flagship specs then you have the Honor Magic 6 Pro which is a great phone from the limited time I had with it. However if you don’t need the top of the line in terms of specs and want to focus on the camera and particularly portraits then the Honor 200 Pro is a solid buy.

The Honor 200 Pro is a well-balanced mid-tier phone with very minor flaws. However, if there is one reason to get this phone over the competition, then it has to be the performance of its cameras. The processor, display, and battery can be considered bonus features.

In conclusion, my expectations for the Honor 200 Pro were modest, but I am genuinely impressed. It offers a complete package with an excellent camera, a strong display, solid performance, and impressive battery life. With current pre-booking offers, the phone’s effective price is between NPR 65,000-70,000 for the 512GB variant, making it a great value. The Honor 200 Pro is arguably the best camera phone under 1 lakh. Powered by the latest 8s Gen 3 chipset, it delivers exceptional performance. Despite the absence of an LTPO display, it offers an impressive screen and solid audio experience. While the design might not appeal to everyone, the minor drawbacks are outweighed by its strengths.

Honor has already shown it can master foldables with the Magic V2 while the Magic 6 Pro is rated by the DXOMark labs as best Android smartphone camera you can buy in Ireland. Now the fast rising brand has shown it can deliver a competitively priced mid-range device that’s capable of an almost flagship level of performance, battery life, camera and charging speeds. It’s the mid-range and budget-priced market where the firm is likely to do most business in Ireland initially as it builds up its fanbase so the 200 Pro is a key release in its evolution.

The Honor 200 Pro sure seems to be an exciting smartphone, as it has all the features for a flagship device. However, the competition is quite challenging in this price segment. We have OnePlus 12, Google Pixel 8A, iQoo 12, and more that offer flagship-grade specifications and have dominated the segment. So, the question here is: can it beat the competition? Stay tuned for an in-depth review of the Honor 200 Pro, where we try to answer this question.

Overall, the Honor 200 Pro is a great mid-range smartphone, and easily one of my favorites this 2024. Not only does it look good, it has the performance to match as well. It caters to users who want a phone with a very capable camera, but can also handle its games well. This then makes it great for content creators or those who want to try and dip into photography and videography. The only downside of the phone is the battery life. Despite having a larger 5200 mAh battery pack, it doesn’t last longer than other phones. In fact, it’s around the same or even uses more battery than its competitors. Speaking of competition, the Honor 200 Pro retails for PHP 29,999 for the 12GB + 512GB variant.

The Honor 200 Pro is unique in many senses, but that is a positive feature maybe only when talking about the camera and its many creative modes on offer. Despite the positioning as a "premium mid-range" phone, its €800 MSRP (approx. $870) places it in flagship territory, especially with its mid-year release and discounted rivals from the first semester. Honor seems really proud of the design of the 200 Pro, but despite liking the build quality and materials on the review unit, the camera island has a divisive look that can look too retro. Besides that, the Honor 200 Pro offers a really competitive package in its screen and performance. The big display, curved edge aside, is perfect for media consumption, and even the stereo speakers sounded nice (but are side-firing, which affected the spatial immersion).

The Honor 200 Pro is a versatile and capable smartphone, with a triple-camera setup that brings with it many imaging options. Honor calls its 200 Pro’s main 50 MP camera with an f/1.9 aperture a “studio-level portrait camera.” Marketed as “the portrait master,” the device has the elements for providing good portraits, thanks to its reliable autofocus, accurate target exposure, and fairly wide dynamic range, even though some color instabilities were noted. For colors, some occasional casts and skin-tone inaccuracies were sometimes visible. Images also contained some chromatic noise, particularly in low-light conditions. Strong backlit conditions could also result in a low contrast in images. The Honor 200 Pro’s strong performances in autofocus, exposure, and well-controlled noise in video were offset by the inconsistencies in stabilization, which were apparent when shooting action videos when walking.

The majority of my issues with the Honor 200 Pro boil down to the fact that the software just isn’t as good as you can get elsewhere. In particular, the Google Pixel 8 offers a much more streamlined experience (not to mention several more years of support) for around the same price. That said, there’s so little to dislike here that a few software wobbles aren’t a dealbreaker. Performance is good and battery life is fantastic, the display is practically flawless and the cameras are diverse and effective, particularly when it comes to portraits. Will that be enough to unseat the Pixel 8? We have yet to see, but if I were Google, I’d be concerned.

The HONOR 200 Pro comes packed with plenty of high-end features, bringing with it efficient performance with a good battery life as well as a commendable camera setup at this price point. It’s not exactly the cheapest Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 smartphone — that crown goes to the POCO F6 — so out of the two, the HONOR device is more worth it only if the camera is a high priority for you.

The Honor 200 Pro is a unique upper midrange smartphone that offers a specialised capability to capture better portraiture that can trump pricier flagships thanks to its AI Portrait Engine that was developed in collaboration with the renowned Studio Harcourt. It’s worth also noting the team have gone out of their way to ensure eye comfort on the screen when taking many pictures, using state-of-the-art dimming tech and an artificial intelligence Circadian Night Display to avoid too much of that horrible blue light that affects things like sleep. The 200 Pro boasts a slim 5200mAh Silicon-Carbon battery with up to 61 hours of continuous music streaming on a single charge. When it is dead, a fast-charge ability means it can get up to 100% battery within about 40 minutes. There’s 512GB of storage on the device, which can accommodate a substantial number of files, such as 95,600 pictures or 80,000 songs. Now that an Honor Magic 6 Pro flagship will set you back north of four figures, the Honor 200 Pro feels like a logical next step for the firm. It fills in the mainstream, upper-midrange gap in a way previous generations didn’t, with a top-end chipset, huge battery, and very capable cameras – even if the headline portrait feature will most likely be sparingly used. I think there’s definitely still room for improvement on the software front, and there seems to be far fewer fans of curved-edge screens than there used to be. Near-identical pricing to the Google Pixel 8 and Samsung Galaxy S24 feels bold, too for a brand which doesn’t have the same recognition as those other names. But there’s no denying it feels every bit as premium in the hand as those phones. So it’s a very tempting alternative that really holds its own among rivals.

The Honor 200 Pro isn't quite a one-trick pony — it has a lot going for it. But the one area that really stands out has to be photography, and specifically portrait photography. That's not for everyone, that's for sure, but it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that this is one of the best portrait photography phones I have ever used. What's funny about that is, I'm not so sure it's for the reason that Honor thinks it is. Honor wants to tell you it's really good for one reason, and even hosted myself and other media in Paris to show me that reason.

The low contrast seems to be more of a problem when zooming in, as in the case of a short clip of the base of the Eiffel tower, where the Olympic rings could be seen. The shadows in the footage has been rendered more grey/brown than black. All in all, the Honor 200 Pro is a very exciting phone to use as it offers quite a lot for photographers for its price point (just under £700) – particularly as someone who takes a lot of portraits. The Honor 200 Pro offers a great package and shows how competent and feature-rich midrange phones can be. It looks good, works fast, and has some exclusive camera tricks to show off. In the opening paragraph, I wrote about this phone being the first Portrait phone out there, but it's more than that. The Honor 200 Pro is an excellent upper midranger with snappy performance, stylish design, a great screen, and super-fast charging. I can see this phone giving some true flagships a run for their money, and the only thing that somewhat spoils this Parisian party is the price. At £699.99 (around $890), the Honor 200 Pro is more expensive than all your mainstream flagship phones, including the iPhone 15, Galaxy S24, and Pixel 8. Can this phone compete with those? It can, absolutely! But it would require a massive leap of faith for most people to reach and grab the Honor 200 Pro and skip the aforementioned "safe" choices. Which is a shame.

That’s a hard question, as always, but it’s even harder right now. Because, at the time of writing this, I do not know the price of the HONOR 200 Pro. I’d imagine it’ll be cheaper than the Magic6 Pro, which is €1299. But how much cheaper is the question? Then there’s the HONOR 100 Pro that it is replacing, that was priced at €449 last year. Leaving the price out of it, this is a damn good phone. Especially if it comes in much cheaper than the Magic6 series. Typically, the number series are marketed as mid-range phones, but there’s nothing mid-range about this. A flagship processor, 12GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, three incredible cameras on the back, and a big juicy battery to boot. There’s not a lot to dislike about the HONOR 200 Pro.

It has an attractive design with splash resistance, an excellent display, powerful hardware, good battery life, fast charging, loud speakers. The camera quality and its versatility are great, and its focus on Portrait mode is commendable. There is a lot to like about the 200 Pro, including the highly customizable software and its iOS-like Magic Capsule. The fast wired, wireless and the option for reversed wireless charging are very much appreciated. There were a couple of things that rubbed us the wrong way, though. Let's start with the pill-shaped notch, which is not that of an eyesore as the iPhones', but a big one if you are used to small punch holes.

The Honor 200 Pro offers speedy performance, impressive photography, long battery life and fast charging – all hallmarks of a great flagship device. However, at this price the competition is stiff, and devices from Samsung, Google and Xiaomi are sure to be more appealing to some buyers. The Honor 200 Pro definitely has its advantages, though. With 512GB storage as standard, it doubles the maximum storage capacity of the Galaxy S24 and Pixel 8. It also has a brighter display, a larger battery and faster charging than these models. The Studio Harcourt portrait effects are a unique feature that helps set this phone apart. Yes, they’re essentially filters with some clever AI processing on top, and with enough tinkering in Lightroom you could achieve similar results, but with this phone you don’t need to;

Now that a Magic 6 Pro flagship will set you back north of four figures, the Honor 200 Pro feels like a logical next step for the firm. It fills in the mainstream, upper-midrange gap in a way previous generations didn’t, with a top-end chipset, huge battery, and what on first inspection appear to be very capable cameras. I still think there’s room for improvement on the software front, and there seems to be far fewer fans of curved-edge screens than there used to be. Near-identical pricing to the Google Pixel 8 and Samsung Galaxy S24 feels bold, too.

Unboxing the Honor 200 Pro smartphone with a full tour of the camera tech, gaming test with Genshin Impact and a close look at those Magic UI features. The Honor 200 Pro is a step down from the Magic 6 Pro flagship but still a premium device, with a couple of compromises. The camera setup isn't as top-tier and that performance is a step back with the 8S Gen 3. Plus, the design isn't as luxurious. Still, the Honor 200 Pro offers a lot for the £699 UK asking price.

The Honor 200 Pro takes a different approach to smartphone photography, doing the opposite of what brands like Samsung and Google do. Instead of brightening shadowy areas, the Honor 200 Pro celebrates and even enhances them. The result is very stylistic and dramatic portrait images on a very stylish phone, but whether or not this will win users over is hard to say.

Ever since mobile phones have been using computational photography technology, it has not only solved the problem of users’ insufficient shooting skills and poor photo effects with its powerful algorithms but has also been combined with powerful lens modules in subsequent development, allowing novice users to easily take high-quality photos. This is undoubtedly a major leap forward in mobile photography technology. There is a saying in France: Anyone who has not been photographed by Yagu Photography Studio is not an actor. Considering that a portrait shot by Yagu Photography in Paris starts at 20,000 yuan, it is known as the “Hermès of portraits”, and its artistic value is not something that everyone can easily possess.

The Honor 200 Pro’s display showed a strong performance in our Display protocol, supported by achieving a top score in color and an excellent showing in touch. The Honor 200 Pro’s flicker-free screen provided a well-adapted brightness in low light and in indoor conditions. However, the display’s readability was heavily challenged in outdoor lighting, and the device couldn’t quite match the luminance and contrast levels of its competitors. Color performance was by far the display’s strongest aspect. The device’s colors, tested in the faithful mode were accurate throughout. This, along with color uniformity, earned the device the highest score in this attribute. Despite a slight green color shift when viewed from an angle, the screen managed to maintain its color accuracy. Touch performance was highlighted by a very fast and accurate average response time of 56 ms. In addition, the device showed no evidence of reacting to any unintended touches.
