Motorola recently refreshed its clamshell Razr line with the new Razr 70 models, or as they are known in the US - Razr 2026. It wasn't a major refresh by any means, but there are certainly some touch-ups here and there.

EN→FRThe Motorola Razr 70 is an easy phone to like. It retains most of what has made Motorola's clamshell foldables so appealing in recent years - a compact and stylish design, one of the best cover screen implementations in the business, clean Android software with plenty of thoughtful extras, and surprisingly strong battery endurance.

EN→FRThe Motorola Razr (2026) certainly isn't a perfect phone, but it's still one of the only foldables at this price point. If you're interested in a flip-style foldable phone, the fact is that unless you're willing to spend more, you're kind of stuck with the Razr. Maybe saying you're stuck with it isn't quite the best phrasing. But the fact is that if you choose this phone, you will need to compromise on plenty of things that other phones do a whole lot better at the price. If you do like the idea of a flip phone, really only use your phone for things like scrolling social media and browsing the web, and don't care much about getting the best camera, then you'll like what's on offer by the Motorola Razr (2026).

EN→FRThe Motorola Razr 2026 remains the value king in the flip phone market, despite the jump in price from $700 to $800 this year. It's widely available on carriers and in my time with it, I did not experience any major issues. It was a fine flip phone. If you are a more demanding user, though, the average processor remains a sore point that you will certainly notice.

EN→FRThe new Motorola Razr 70 announced and released April 2026 is a modern foldable flip phone that is surprisingly light at just 188 grams. When unfolded, you get a big, beautiful 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED screen with super-smooth 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, and a peak brightness of 3000 nits perfect for sunny days. Fold it shut, and you will find a handy 3.6-inch external AMOLED display (90Hz, 1700 nits) for quick replies, selfies, or checking notifications without opening the phone. The build is tough too an aluminum frame, titanium hinge, Gorilla Glass on the front cover, and an IP48 water-resistance rating (safe in 1.5m of water for 30 minutes). It even meets MIL-STD-810H military durability standards. The Motorola Razr 70 runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 7450X chip (built on a power-efficient 4nm process) with 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of storage. It runs Android 16 out of the box. The camera setup is simple but capable a dual 50MP main system (one wide with OIS for steady shots, one ultrawide for landscapes or group photos) and a 32MP selfie camera on the inside. You can record 4K video from both the main and selfie cameras. Battery life comes from a 4800mAh silicon carbon battery that is a newer, denser type of battery supporting 30W wired and 15W wireless charging. The phone also includes stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and 5G connectivity.

EN→FRThe 2026 Motorola Razr throws down the red carpet for foldable hopefuls who can't afford to splurge on premium phones, but still want to experience a flexible, dual-display device. For hundreds less than competing flip phones, Motorola shells out a heavy dose of bendable fun. I like the excellent battery life, the dynamic cameras, and the swift connectivity performance. Ultimately, few foldables below $800 are free of compromises.

EN→FRAll told, the Razr 2026 is sitting pretty in this year's lineup. It's the only model I'd feel comfortable recommending at full price — the Razr Plus 2026 and Razr Ultra 2026 are overpriced and share too much in common with their predecessor. The last-gen Razr 2025 isn't much of a threat here because it's only $200 cheaper and only has two Android OS upgrades remaining. Once again, this is the phone to buy if you want a foldable without spending a fortune.

EN→FRThe Motorola Razr 2026 remains a good pick for the foldable-curious, and though it's gotten pricier, so have many other phones. The strides made in previous years -- upgrading both rear cameras to 50-megapixel shooters, expanding its cover screen to 3.6 inches -- make it premium enough to warrant serious consideration over its even more expensive siblings (which also got price bumps). Where the foldable makes compromises, namely in a chip that's slower than other phones at its price range, it's not hindering enough to dissuade favor -- though if you plan to keep your phone longer than four or five years, the Galaxy Z line of foldables is a better investment. Where the foldable excels in design, display and battery, it justifies recommendation as the most affordable clamshell foldable available on the market.

EN→FRMotorola hasn’t quite pulled a Pixel 10a with the Razr 70 – releasing the exact same phone twice in succession – but it’s not a million miles off. In terms of its design, performance, and overall camera set-up, it’s much like the Razr 60 before it. That’s both good and bad. On the positive side of things, the Razr is the most accessibly-priced foldable on the market, and a classy operator with a tactile design and good-quality screens. On the other hand, it performs and takes photos like a mid-ranger (albeit a non-foldable one). It’s cheap, yes, but much like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, it doesn’t feel like brilliant value for money. For better options, take a look at our selection of the best foldable phones.

EN→FRWith the price of the new Razr 70 Ultra increasing to £1,199 (the Razr 60 Ultra was available from £999), you’re paying a lot for a phone with not a lot of support and not a lot of changes. But with that said, Motorola sets a high bar with the Razr 70 Ultra: it’s still pretty powerful, the battery expansion is welcomed and the new camera sensor has promise. The design is great (if a little thick), but I can’t fault the appeal of Motorola’s colours and materials. But in sticking to a familiar path, the Razr 70 Ultra hands Samsung an opportunity with the forthcoming Galaxy Z Flip 8, which could be thinner, lighter, cheaper, and offer better software support – but with a smaller battery, slower charging and without the fun colours and finishes. Could the more affordable, and still eye-catching Razr 70 and Razr 70 Plus prove to be more popular this year? Check back in soon for our full reviews to find out.

The Razr 70 Ultra, which is also known as the Razr Ultra 2026 for the North American market, doesn't stray away too much from its predecessor with little to no changes to the hardware. Motorola feels confident enough with its last year's flagship flip phone, so with just some minor tweaks, it's good to go against the 2026 competition.

EN→FREven though the Razr 70 Ultra has few real competitors, it feels like Motorola is really trying to produce a competitive device. The Razr 70 Ultra offers one of the best battery endurances for a flip phone, has unique design options, charges quite fast, snaps excellent stills with all of its cameras, as far as flip phones go, and offers a fully functional cover screen with some neat features. And some minor missteps leave a lingering taste.

EN→FRThe Razr Ultra (2026) packs all of Motorola's bells and whistles into the exact same footprint as its predecessor, which sounds like a good thing. However, with the same chipset and charging that struggles to reach its top speeds, the Razr Ultra's relatively minor upgrades are offset by a hard-to-stomach price bump. But if money is no object, this is still the best Razr and foldable flip phone you can get.

EN→FRUnsurprisingly, the Razr Ultra is the best flip phone in Motorola's lineup, and the best-performing — it has the strongest chip, the best battery life of the three, fast charging, and a camera that's genuinely improved thanks to the new main sensor. The problem is the price.

EN→FRThe Motorola Razr Ultra has not changed much this year, but it's still an excellent flip phone. Its price, however, has ballooned to $1,500 which is just way out of reach for most people. Samsung's Galaxy Flip 7 might be the older phone, but it is commonly found on discount at prices as low as $900. With such a massive gap between the two, the practical choice is clear, but if price is no issue or if Motorola introduces some big discounts, the Razr wins on battery size, charging and just pure looks and comfort, while the Galaxy gets longer updates and a more feature rich One UI skin.

In nearly every way, the new Razr Ultra in 2026 is a giant improvement over that first model. But it's not competing in the same market as six years ago. EN→FR$1,500 is a lot of money for a phone that hasn't changed much from its previous generation, so the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 doesn't make much sense at its full retail price. But it is going to get discounted. Just recently, we saw the Razr Ultra 2025 plunge to just $800 (the starting price of that model was $1,300), so it's reasonable to expect big discounts coming for this phone in the coming months.

EN→FRSo here’s where we land after a couple of weeks with the Razr Ultra 2026: it’s a great flip phone, maybe the best flip phone you can buy right now, but you should probably wait for a discount. Sound familiar? That’s because it’s the same verdict I reach pretty much every single year with Motorola’s flagship flip. The “same, same, but different” approach works in Motorola’s favor in a lot of ways. You’re getting the gorgeous Pantone-backed design, that fantastic full-screen 4-inch cover display that I keep gravitating toward, brighter Extreme AMOLED panels, a less noticeable crease, and a bigger 5,000mAh battery thanks to Silicon Carbon. The performance is excellent too, with the tweaked Snapdragon 8 Elite Pro and improved thermals actually pushing benchmark numbers higher than last year despite being essentially the same chip on paper.

EN→FRThe only genuine reason to buy the Motorola Razr (2026) is its compact folding phone design, and the fact that it’s the cheapest way to try out what is a great style. The cover screen and Motorola’s implementation of the software on it is also the best you can get, and the phone feels well-made and durable. However, this is really where the good stops, and the compromises begin. They stack up pretty quickly, too. The performance is lackluster for an $800 phone, and non-folding phones that cost much less feel snappier and more willing to multitask. The main camera’s colorful vibrancy appeals, but look closely at the photos, and the detail just isn’t there. The software isn’t supported for as long as many of its rivals, the inner screen’s plastic protector lets it down, and the battery life and charging don’t stand out either. If you own a 2025 Razr or even the 2024 Razr, there’s no reason at all to upgrade. If you’re really keen on a compact folding phone, I’d recommend saving a little longer to get the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7.If you want a reasonably priced phone that handles the day-to-day but can still impress, anything from the Pixel 10a to the Galaxy A57 offers better value and more long-term support than the Razr (2026).

EN→FRThe Motorola Razr Ultra (2026) brings tactile fun back to phones with its wood and Alcantara finishes—though the latter is a bit of a dust magnet. Other upgrades include a brighter display, a more durable cover screen, a new 5,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, and new AI tricks. You also get a trio of 50MP cameras that are quite good (for a folding phone), and flip-based fun in camcorder mode for video. While I was hoping the big battery would lead to longer battery life, the Razr Ultra still outclasses the Galaxy Z Flip 7 in that respect, as well as in overall performance despite the year-old processor. If you don't mind the high price, it's a great folding phone, though it stops short of earning our Editors' Choice. Those who prefer Samsung's ecosystem should stick with the Z Flip 7, particularly since it costs $400 less.

EN→FRPricing for this phone starts at $1,499.99, which has a complicated story behind it. Last year, the Razr Ultra launched at $1,299.99, but if you went to Motorola.com three weeks ago, you'd see it was currently selling for $799.99, with an MSRP of $1,499.99. So, is this phone more expensive? It's hard to say. This is Motorola, so give it a few weeks (tops) and the price will come down (if the past informs the future). Like I said at the beginning, if you have any version of the Razr 2025, you already have the 2026 version of the device, more or less. If you're using the Razr Ultra 2025 right now, you already have the 2026 version of this phone, full stop. There's no need to upgrade, there is nothing worth it. If you have an older phone and you want to upgrade, that's fair. I said last year, this is a good phone. That's still the case here. But I don't think it's a $1,500 phone; it's a $1,300 phone at best, and even that is stretching things. Mostly, it just feels like Motorola has stagnated in this space. That's not generally a major problem, because in this writer's opinion, Moto has (still) been pretty far ahead of its U.S. competition, but Samsung is catching up, so Moto is squandering its lead. Yes, this is a good phone, but it's last year's flagship at this year's price. If (and when) it makes it back down to $799.99, go ahead and pick it up; it'll be a great deal. But until that happens, you can wait.

EN→FRThe second I picked up the Razr Ultra for 2026 at an event in Los Angeles, I knew what I was in for: a phone similar to the one Motorola made last year, but a little faster. The flip phone, which has stood out as one of the best on the market for the last 12 months, got a small refresh for this year with new colors, a new chip, and longer battery life. It also got a new price - $200 more than the previous version. The Motorola Razr Ultra is still the best flip phone you can buy, even beating Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 7. But the price is hard to swallow; at $1,499.99, you’re paying for what’s essentially the same phone as last year, save for a couple of upgrades here and there. After spending time with the phone and getting to know it, those upgrades haven’t proven to be extraordinary or life-changing, just nice to have. The Razr Ultra for 2026 is definitely better than the 2025 version, if only for the faster speeds and good looks. So long as you can get it at a discounted price, it’ll deliver the best flip phone experience you can get.

EN→FRHowever, a new camera sensor and a couple of new camera features aren't enough to justify the bloated $1,500 price tag. The Motorola Razr Ultra 2025 was already hard to recommend at its $1,300 retail price, but fortunately, there were plenty of deals throughout the year that made it worth buying. That said, it's pretty telling that the Razr Ultra 2026 won't be available from any carriers, at least as far as we know. The Razr Ultra 2026 is a good phone, but it's not $1,500 good. I like it just as much as the Razr Ultra 2025, but that's the problem; I should like it more than its predecessor. At this point, I would suggest getting last year's model or splurging on the Razr Fold. Or if you really want a flip phone, you could spring for the base Razr 2026 or Galaxy Z Flip 7. Otherwise, you may want to wait for the Galaxy Z Flip 8 or simply hold out for any Razr Ultra 2026 sales, which we'll obviously be on the lookout for.

EN→FRThe Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 is a classic case of a good phone at an unfortunate price. Last year, Motorola proved that flip phones don't have to come with major compromises compared to their flagship and big-screen foldable counterparts. This year's revision, with an even better main camera sensor and a larger silicon-carbon battery, is a worthy follow-up. At $1,500 and with no carrier discounts available, the Razr Ultra 2026 is simply a non-starter. However, if post-launch discounts shave a few hundred dollars off the sticker price, this foldable becomes seriously tempting.

EN→FRThe 2026 Razr Ultra is currently available through the company's official website for $1,500. At the time of writing, Motorola is also offering a promotional bundle that includes a 4-pack of Moto Tags and the Moto Buds 2 Plus at no extra cost. Like the Razr Fold, the Razr Ultra is available in only one hardware configuration. And like other Motorola Razr models, you should really only buy it when it's on sale, which is only a matter of time. While I've found the Razr Ultra to be a great phone, there's no getting around the fact that it is expensive. Buyers looking for a more affordable flip-style foldable may want to consider Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 7, which is currently available for around $1,020 for the 512GB model. Considering last year's Razr Ultra model may be an even smarter choice.

It's pretty simple to review the 2026 Razr Ultra ... because it's not all that different from the 2025 Razr Ultra. Like I said in my hands-on, I spent the past year with the earlier model, and enough of that year was positive that I expected to re-recommend this one. But there's a fine line between "sticking with what works" and "falling asleep on cruise control," and I think Motorola's sliding right along on that "razr's" edge. From Google I/O in Mountain View California (which is why the voiceover might sound a little weird this week, sorry!) EN→FRIf you’re into the flip phone format and it’s simply a case of deciding which suits you best, it’s worth considering the Razr 70 Ultra for that outstanding battery life alone. Not only is it the best we’ve seen from a clamshell foldable, it beats out plenty of non-folding phones, too. Add in the brilliant performance, bold and unique designs, a cover display that’s as wonderful as ever and fun new tricks like rotate to zoom, and the Razr 70 Ultra is the best representation of what foldables should be right now: it’s fun to use and defiantly different. The only thing holding it back – and it is, unfortunately, a big thing – is Motorola’s lacklustre software support. No phone that costs four figures should be tapping out of OS updates after a paltry three years, and until Motorola addresses this issue, there will always be those who will (and should) opt instead for the safer long-term bet of a Galaxy Z Flip.

EN→FRAs good as the Razr 70 Ultra is, and it is good, after spending a couple of weeks with it, I’m still not sure why anyone would buy it over the previous Razr 60 Ultra. That’s not to say there’s anything wrong with it. The design is lovely, the cover screen remains one of the best on any flip phone, battery life is solid, and the fast charging is genuinely convenient. It’s also powerful, easy to live with, and more than capable of delivering the kind of experience most people want from a compact foldable. The problem is that it just doesn’t move the formula on enough. The internal screen is still quite narrow, Moto AI adds very little of real value, and the camera and software experience don’t feel meaningfully better than before. So while this is one of the best foldable phones you can buy, I’d still be more tempted by last year’s model if you can get it for less.

This flip phone is fresh for 2026 but the upgrades vs last year's 60 Ultra aren't particularly world-shattering. Battery life is slightly better thanks to the bigger 5000mAh cell, for instance, while the Motorola RAZR 70 Ultra also boasts a fresh main camera sensor. Want to see what difference this makes? I've shot hundreds of photos so here's my thoughts.

My personal favourite? Well, you'll have to watch the video for that, but both flip phones have their strengths and weaknesses. For instance, the Galaxy boasts many more years of OS updates, while the Motorola RAZR 70 Ultra packs a bigger capacity battery vs the Z Flip 7. Of course, question is: does that translate into better battery life? And what happens when you get gaming? The camera setup is pretty similar, but again the results couldn't be more different. The Motorola RAZR 70 Ultra spaffs out photos with Pantone validated colours, while both can shoot 4K video at up to 60FPS.

EN→FRSince we haven’t fully assessed the Razr’s performance, we can’t offer definitive buying advice just yet. Even so, we have a few pointers for you if you’re queueing up to preorder a Razr. If you use your phone outside a lot, the Razr Fold has a brighter screen, which should make it easier to use in the sun. If ecosystem is important, Samsung’s galaxy of connected devices (TVs, PCs, fridges) is broader than Motorola’s and may better suit your inter-device connectivity needs. Those who prioritize battery life may want to consider the Razr. Motorola has long surpassed its rivals in delivering great battery life, and the Razr's larger battery has the potential to outlast the Z Flip. If you like smaller phones, the Z Flip 7 is the most compact.

EN→FRThe Motorola Razr 70 Ultra is also known as Motorola Razr Ultra 2026, which is a clamshell foldable that feels surprisingly light at just 199 grams. When closed, it measures a compact 88.1 x 74 x 15.7 mm, slipping easily into a pocket, but open it up to reveal a stunning 7.0-inch foldable LTPO AMOLED screen. This main display is a tech lover’s dream, pumping out 1 billion colors, a buttery smooth 165Hz refresh rate, and an eye searing peak brightness of 5000 nits for perfect outdoor visibility. It supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+, so movies and games look incredible. But the real star is the large 4-inch external cover display (also LTPO AMOLED, 165Hz, and 3000 nits peak), which lets you reply to messages, take calls, and even use apps without ever opening the phone.

The brand that first made the flip phone a must-have in 2004 has spent the past six years resurrecting the Razr for a new generation – and it’s finally paying off. Motorola bit off a 44 percent share of the foldable market in North America last year, stealing 15% from Samsung based on flip phones alone. This week, Motorola brought a bunch of media (including MrMobile) to Los Angeles for an early look at the 2026 Razr models meant to secure that growth. Despite rumors of precious few upgrades, it was an exciting prospect for someone who's carried the prior model almost continuously for the past eleven months. So before we talk about the new 2026 Razrs, join me for a Long-Term Review of last year's Motorola Razr Ultra!

Motorola just launched the new Razr Ultra 2026, its most premium flip phone yet. But at $1,499, it has something to prove as we start to review it, and it's vying against the Razr Fold starting at $1,899. In this hands-on video, Kate breaks down 5 things to know about the Razr Ultra, including:

EN→FRThe Motorola Razr Plus 2026 (or Razr 70 Plus) is a head-turning foldable with two great displays, impressive battery life, and excellent portrait-taking capabilities. Unfortunately, it's also saddled with a so-so chipset and software support (or a lack thereof) that just isn't good enough at this price range.

EN→FRThe Motorola Razr Plus 2026 is a big win for the folding phone category. It shakes off the air of a fragile experimental prototype and confidently takes on the role of a reliable, high-performance daily driver. The gorgeous Pantone Mountain View color and textured rear cover is a breath of fresh air from slippery glass slabs that provide excellent grip and look pristine and fingerprint-free.

EN→FRThe Motorola Razr+ (2026) sits in kind of an awkward position. It's not quite the flip phone for those who simply want their device to fold at the lowest price possible. That title goes to the base Motorola Razr. And it's not the device for those who want the best flip phone they can buy. For that, you'll need to step up to the Razr Ultra tier.

EN→FRThe Motorola Razr Plus 2026 suffers from being the middle child. It has to find the perfect balance of features and price, but with the new and higher $1,100 price, it's not cheap. It's also $300 pricier than the base Razr 2026 model, and for most people, I think that price premium is not worth it.

EN→FRThe Motorola Razr Plus 2026 might look nearly the same from the outside, but Motorola clearly paid attention to most users' concerns, upgrading key components like the battery size, cameras, and durability. The 2026 model also sports longer software support commitments, now with promised updates until 2032. The price increase stings, especially given that there's no SoC upgrade, and having only one color model is a bummer, but this is still the best flip phone for the price, especially with the new upgrades.

EN→FRThe Motorola Razr Plus 2026 left me surprised more than anything else. It's woefully underpowered in some areas, like the processor, but also impressive in others, such as the camera and battery hardware. The battery makes the Razr Plus 2026 weak within the Razr 2026 lineup, although it becomes a key advantage when comparing the phone to the Galaxy Z Flip 7. The same can be said about the cameras. We can argue about whether the Razr Plus 2026 should've retained its telephoto lens, but having a 50MP secondary lens of any kind puts this phone ahead of Samsung's best. I've already written about how the Razr Ultra 2026 isn't a realistic choice at its full $1,500 price point, but the Plus model is appealing at $1,100. Throw in a carrier discount — AT&T will give you this phone for under $160 with a 36-month contract and bill credits — and the Razr Plus 2026 becomes a downright good deal.

EN→FRThere are two groups of people that I think this Razr Plus is best for. The first group is anyone who purchased the 2023 Razr Plus or base Razr and is looking for an upgrade to the 4-inch cover display without spending $1,500 for the Razr Ultra. The second is anyone curious about the Razr line who knows they need a bit more power and memory than the base phone offers, yet isn't willing to spend $1,500 on an Ultra with more powerful specs. However, for most people interested in getting their first folding phone, I don't think there's enough here to justify the $300 premium over the base Razr. The bigger cover screen is nice, but not nice enough to justify the price difference. That $800 Razr includes the same 256GB of storage, at least in the version sold by Motorola; I'd avoid the 128GB model wherever it's sold.

EN→FRThe Motorola is bringing back the flip-phone magic with the Razr 70 Plus, announced and released on April 29, 2026. When you unfold it, you get a gorgeous 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED screen that is smooth as butter with a 165Hz refresh rate and blindingly bright at 3000 nits, perfect for watching HDR videos or using it outdoors. You are left with a compact 4-inch external AMOLED display (also 165Hz) that lets you reply to messages, take selfies, or control music without flipping open. It is incredibly lightweight at just 189 grams, and the titanium hinge feels premium. Plus, it has an IP48 rating, meaning it can handle dust and survive a dip in 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes.

Motorola:
