The $1,200 Acer Swift 3X truly surprised and impressed me. Our only real gripe with last year’s Swift 3 was with its performance. The Swift 3X’s combination of discrete Intel Xe Max graphics and an 11th-gen Tiger Lake processor puts that concern to rest. This tiny laptop is fast. It’s also, slender, light, and long-lasting on battery. We wish the notebook had a more color-accurate screen and an SD card slot to play up its creation focus, but those are more nitpicks than deal-breakers.

Finally, we’ve seen Intel make a real effort in the discrete GPU market. At least for laptops. If 2020 wasn’t weird enough, now it is. Nevertheless, we still think that they have a lot of work to be done, particularly in the software. As the 3DMark Firestrike Graphics score suggests, the Iris Xe Max Graphics has the raw power to compete even with the GeForce GTX 1050. However, real-world tests showed that the performance was slightly better than the MX350, and pretty much on par with the integrated Iris Xe Graphics G7.

L'un des premiers ordinateurs portables à utiliser la carte graphique Iris Xe Max d'Intel, le Swift 3X devrait faire mouche auprès des créatifs nomades. D’un point de vue design, le Swift 3x d'Acer est identique au Swift 3. Le X accolé à son nom est là pour évoquer la nouveauté qu’il renferme : l’Iris Xe Max, la première carte graphique d’Intel depuis plus de 20 ans. Combiné à son processeur Intel Core de 11e génération, le Swift 3X passe de ce qui serait normalement un bon ordinateur portable polyvalent, fin et léger, à un laptop capable de répondre aux besoins fondamentaux des créatifs sans transiger sur l'autonomie et la mobilité, ni coûter une petite fortune. En France, le Swift 3x est proposé à 1 099€ avec un processeur Core i5 de 11ème génération, 16 Go de Ram et 512 Go de SSD. Les ordinateurs portables destinés aux créatifs peuvent facilement atteindre deux ou trois fois ce prix.

En 1976, la société a été fondée à Taïwan sous le nom de Multitech et a été rebaptisée Acer ou Acer Group en 1987. La gamme de produits comprend, par exemple, des ordinateurs portables, des tablettes, des smartphones, des ordinateurs de bureau, des moniteurs, des téléviseurs et des périphériques informatiques. Depuis 2007, le groupe a fusionné avec Gateway Inc. et Packard Bell, qui commercialisent également leurs propres gammes de produits pour ordinateurs portables.

Les ordinateurs Acer sont conçus pour une variété d'utilisations, y compris les ultrabooks pour une utilisation mobile, les ordinateurs portables de jeu pour les joueurs, les options abordables pour les tâches quotidiennes et les ordinateurs portables convertibles 2 en 1 pour plus de polyvalence.
