The Asus ROG Strix Scar III (G731GU) is an affordable 17.3in laptop that offers well-balanced 1080p and e-sports gaming power. It isn't without some flaws though, with an extremely hefty design, poor battery life and lack of display sync technology. I still wouldn't discount the Scar III, especially if you’re on a tight budget or don’t need RTX 2060 power.

ASUS ROG Strix G731 review – a feature-packed light bearer

Performance-wise there is nothing unexpected. Our unit managed to extract the most out of the Core i7-9750H and it still had some headroom (in our opinion) for the Core i9-9880H. Add the RTX 2070 to the mixture and you get a pretty capable device. However, it’s worth noting that the laptop was pretty noisy under load, unlike the HP Omen 17 2019, but it appears to be a trait to the ROG Strix gaming laptops. Well, if we have to be completely honest, the HP Omen 17 2019 and the MSI GE75 Raider produced a lot higher framerates than the ROG Strix G731. Should you buy it, though? Well, if you’re okay with the noisy nature of the device, and by the way the speakers on this notebook are stunning, so they might compensate for that. However, we couldn’t forgive it the fact that it lacks an SD card reader and Thunderbolt support on the Type-C port.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Mobile:
Carte graphique dédiée du milieu de gamme pour PC portables, basée sur la GTX 1660 Ti pour PC de bureau, et de ce fait basée sur l'architecture Turing sans Ray Tracing ni cœurs Tensor. Les performances de la version Max-Q devraient être similaires à celles d'une ancienne GTX 1070.
Ces cartes graphiques de milieu de gamme peuvent faire tourner tout les jeux récents de façon fluide. Les jeux gourmands ne peuvent être joués qu'avec les détails réglés sur moyen.
