Every convertible design has its trade-offs but the XPS 13 2-in-1 is the most attractive take we’ve seen on the idea. Dell has created an uncompromising laptop that just happens to also offer the convenient option of flipping around into tent or tablet mode. Of course, if you have no use for the folding design, you can save money by choosing a regular Dell XPS 13 or a Surface Laptop with a taller, sharper screen. Conversely, if you plan to use tablet mode on a regular basis, you might find the Surface Pro 7 suits you better: it’s lighter and doesn’t have a keyboard sticking out of the back. But for many users, we suspect the idea of a high-quality touchscreen system that can occasionally be transformed into other modes will hit the sweet spot. Even if you’d usually turn your nose up at a convertible, you might find it hard to resist the charms of this fast, stylish and portable machine.

It's got a premium design, flaunts Intel's new Ice Lake chip which is capable of casual gaming and has an absolutely gorgeous display. Dell's determination to convert to the new USB-C ports may frustrate those who don't want to use adaptors to hook up old peripherals and it's unfortunate how much the 4K panel saps the battery, but otherwise it's difficult to find much wrong with this superb portable.

Thanks to all that new tech, Dell's latest represents a substantial shift in the age-old performance/mobility trade-off. The CPU performance gains over Whiskey Lake-based 8th generation Intel processors are significant and meaningful. However, pairing those gains with significantly enhanced efficiency is downright impressive. Add to that a near-doubling of performance in graphical tasks, and there's a ton to love about the new Dell XPS 13 7390. This is the first time in quite a while that you can get more of both without taking a second mortgage out on your home. On top of that, this system is a real looker and very lightweight while being durable and versatile. If you've been hanging onto an older business-class notebook, it's time to consider and upgrade. To sum up this laptop's performance with Intel 10th Gen Core CPUs we'll borrow a line from Seinfeld: they're here and they're spectacular.

Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 review: The first Intel Ice Lake PC is a winner

The Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 is possibly the best 13-inch convertible on the market, hands down. It solves some major pain points of previous generations, mainly having to do with performance. Of course, the webcam finally being above the display instead of beneath it is a big plus. My two biggest complaints are that it doesn't ship with the pen, and that there's no IR camera. For the pen, it's a real shame that a premium PC like this doesn't come with it. I'd expect that kind of cost-cutting from an Inspiron, but not an XPS. Of course, Microsoft sells the pen separately on Surface PCs too, so I guess this is acceptable. The bit about the IR camera isn't a big deal to me. It has a fingerprint sensor, and frankly, I'm only logging into the PC once per session.

Critique complète du Dell XPS 13 7390 2-en-1 (i3-1005G1, UHD G1, FHD) : Ice réussi | Notebookcheck
Le dernier convertible XPS de Dell n’est pas comme la plupart des ultrabooks ou des convertibles que nous avons testés récemment, simplement parce qu’il propose une longue liste de fonctionnalité originale : Ice Lake U, clavier MagLev, chambre à vapeur, refroidissement GORE, écran tactile de 13,4 pouces, et un ratio de 16:10. Le résultat est un convertible nomade avec l’un des écrans les plus lumineux et les mieux calibrés de cette catégorie. Malheureusement, il faudra composer avec l’absence de certaines fonctionnalités qui pourrait en réduire la durée de vie.

Avec les processeurs mobiles AMD Ryzen rattrapant finalement la série ULV Core U d’Intel, tous les yeux se tournent vers les séries Ice Lake et Comet Lake U, pour voir la réaction d’Intel. C’est Dell qui subit la pression, intégrant ce processeur dans sa deuxième génération de XPS 13 2-en-1, d’autant plus que c’est le premier à être équipé d’un Core i7-1065G7 Ice Lake. Le convertible haut de gamme est efficace malgré quelques défauts.

Après un spectacle impressionnant avec le XPS 13 7390 2-en-1, le XPS 13 clamshell original a besoin qu’on s’intéresse à lui. Et Dell parvient à remettre le XPS 13 sous les feux de la rampe, puisqu’il s’agit d’un des premiers ultraportables à être équipé d’un processeur ULV hexacœur, avec le Core i7-10710U Comet Lake U.

Nous aurions adoré pouvoir mettre la main sur l'exacte réplique (mise à jour) du modèle qui nous avait fait si forte impression au tout début de l'année. Clairement, la 4K, ce n'est pas son truc. Nous l'avions déjà constaté par le passé et cela se vérifie encore une fois. Nous vous conseillons fortement d'opter pour la nouvelle version avec une dalle Full HD non tactile qui, de plus, coûte 300 euros de moins.

As always, the XPS 13 7390 is an amazing laptop to have. Not only it is one of the most portable notebooks on the market, but it also provides performance beyond the expectations of a ULV processor. As we saw in the temperature segment of this review, the laptop was actually able to maintain 2.70 GHz of sustained clock speed – a feat that is still hard for some gaming notebooks on the market.

As we saw in the temperature segment of this review, the laptop was actually able to maintain 2.70 GHz of sustained clock speed – a feat that is still hard for some gaming notebooks on the market.

Dell:
Dell est un fabricant américain (basé au Texas) de matériel informatique fondé en 1984 et l'un des plus grands fabricants internationaux en termes de parts de marché et de modèles d'ordinateurs portables. Sa gamme de produits comprend des ordinateurs de bureau, des ordinateurs portables, des systèmes de stockage, des moniteurs, des serveurs, des imprimantes, des appareils électroniques grand public et des périphériques. Dell propose des ordinateurs portables adaptés à diverses applications, telles que les ordinateurs portables professionnels, les ordinateurs portables de jeu, les ultra-portables et les postes de travail. Les ordinateurs portables professionnels Dell des séries Latitude et Precision sont une option pour les utilisateurs professionnels et les entreprises.

Processeur quadricur Ice Lake basse consommation pour les PC portables fins et légers. Intègre deux curs Sunnycove cadencés entre 1,2 et 3,4 GHz, qui intègrent l'Hyperthreading (4 threads). De plus, le SoC intègre une puce graphique UHD Graphics G1 d'entrée de gamme, et le Wifi 6 et le Thunderbolt sont partiellement intégrés. La puce est gravée grâce au procédé 10 nm moderne par Intel.
