The HP Compaq 6910p is a quality laptop we enjoyed testing. HP has positioned it as a business laptop, and it fills that role rather well. But if you've ever seen one of HP's lower-priced consumer entertainment laptops, you may wonder why HP can't bring that attractive new Piano Black finish and lovely BrightView display finish to its business line. While it would be nice to see HP get more creative by bringing some of its consumer innovations to its business lineup, as a business laptop the HP Compaq 6910p stacks up well with the Lenovo ThinkPads of the world and its other competitors in the space. Starting at around £1,100, it's a good fit for the businessperson requiring a laptop for a mix of road and office use.

Hewlett-Packard uses the phrase ‘balanced mobility’ to describe the Compaq 6910p ­ a term which usually means that one or two compromises are needed to maximise portability. Despite this, we found the new notebook to be well equipped and able to handle a wide range of business tasks. There’s certainly no doubting the portability of the 6910p. It’s not the smallest you can buy, but that’s not a bad thing as the end result is rugged, yet still relatively light (2kg), and a handy size for carrying around. It can also last a long time between charging sessions with a six-cell Li-Ion battery which, according to HP, should last for more than five hours. We didn’t manage quite that, but did achieve around four hours of portable use in our tests.

The 14.1" HP Compaq 6910p is one of the latest professional line portable business notebooks currently being offered by HP.  The 6910p is much like the smaller 12.1" screen HP 2510p we recently reviewed in terms of looks, but of course this larger notebook packs more power. The 6910p starts at a reasonable price of $1,199 with a basic configuration that includes the Intel Core 2 Duo (Santa Rosa) processor. The 6910p is squarely in the business notebook category, this means there is no sacrifice made when it comes to security and communications features you'd want to have as a business person. Our review model has integrated Verizon EV-DO and you can get 802.11n for faster wireless. There's a fingerprint reader for biometric security and it offers a TPM integrated security chip.

IT and business managers faced with purchasing hundreds of business laptops often find HP Compaqs to be among the most reliable and affordable models. The HP Compaq 6910p ($1,849 direct) is a thin-and-light business laptop that's powerful and has numerous wireless options. It belongs to a huge Compaq family, but fortunately, this 5-pound performer is a standout in a crowded field. When I say the HP Compaq family, I'm not talking about just three or four laptops, as would apply to Dell and Lenovo. There are eight or nine that have the same design and confusing model numbers. What's worse, they all look alike. Granted, it's still a very good design. If you're in a serious corporate setting or if you're looking for the most conservative machine out there, the 6910p fills the bill. The exterior has a bluish-gray tint, which will match most any business suit.

A sturdy and speedy business notebook with enhanced remote-management capabilities and built-in mobile broadband. The HP Compaq 6910p delivers just about everything that business users on the go are looking for: performance, security, durability, and mobile broadband. Compatibility with Centrino Pro allows IT managers to remotely manage the system and push out important security updates, and the optical drive can be swapped for a weight saver or additional hard drive. We'd like to see a mobile broadband connection, but otherwise this notebook is a strong competitor to the Dell Latitude D630 and Lenovo ThinkPad T61. Donning a strictly professional exterior, the 6910p is designed to withstand daily abuse. Like the nc6400, this 5.2-pound notebook has a magnesium-alloy frame, as well as rubber bumpers around the screen and keyboard to protect the display.

HP's latest business laptop, the thin-and-light Compaq 6910p, seems poised to woo corporate users away from their ThinkPads. It offers many of the same features as the Lenovo ThinkPad T61, including Intel's latest Centrino Duo platform, enterprise-level security via a Trusted Platform Module, and optional WWAN--at a significantly lower price. The $1,850 Compaq 6910p also undercuts the similarly configured Dell Latitude D630 by nearly $100, making it a good choice for corporate users who need the latest business-friendly features at an affordable price. The HP Compaq 6910p features the boxy shape and subdued gray-and-black color scheme found across HP's business laptop line. Its solid construction and sturdy display hinges will no doubt appeal to IT buyers who want their laptops to last for the long haul. Its dimensions are fairly typical for a thin-and-light laptop and virtually identical to those of the Dell Latitude D630.

ATI Mobility Radeon X2300: L’ATI Mobility Radeon détrône la ATI Mobility Radeon X1350 pour des ordinateurs portatifs. Elle supporte DirectX 10. Elle est aussi rapide que la ATI Mobility Radeon X600 ou la NVidia GeForce Go 7300. Aux dernières rumeurs, la X2300 n’est qu’une X1300 / X1350 avec un autre nom (pour le pas confondre avec la X1250 qui est bien moins rapide). Et elle n’est compatible qu’avec Direct X 9.

Seuls les vieux jeux peuvent tourner de façon fluide sur ces ordinateurs (S'ils ne sont pas trop gourmands en ressources). Les coeurs à mémoire partagée de cette catégorie ont l'avantage d'être moins chaud et moins gourmand en énergie. Pour le bureau, internet, l'édition de photos, et le montage vidéo ces cartes graphiques n'ont aucune restrictions.

Intel Core 2 Duo:

C'est le successeur du Core Duo avec des pipelines 5-20% plus rapides sans consommation supplémentaire. Comme une addition à la conception du core duo là existe un quatrième décodeur, une SSE-unité amplifiée et une unité logique arithmétique additionnelle (ALU). Le core 2 duo pour ordinateurs portables est identique aux processeurs de core 2 duo d'ordinateur de bureau mais les portables fonctionnent avec des tensions inférieures et une vitesse de Frontside. L'exécution des portables également synchronisés est 20-25% inférieure à des ordinateur de bureau en raison de fréquence d’horloge inférieure de Frontside et plus lents de disques durs.
