We expected a bit more from HP's tablet given its 469 price tag. You can find other tablets that are faster for less, or one that's bigger and more powerful for around the same price. That said, HP's tablet will let you game a bit without throwing up the white flag. It's clearly not targeted as a gaming tablet, but that's pretty obvious from its enterprise-focused features and its accessory pen.

If you really like the idea of capturing strokes that you write on real paper, the HP Pro Slate 8 is worth considering, but $449 is a lot to spend on an 8-inch Android tablet. For $100 less, the Dell Venue 8 7000 has a sharper and more colorful screen, a more attractive design, faster performance and better cameras, along with some of its own IT management options.

Although its stylus-related features aren’t quite good enough to justify its price premium over the superb Apple iPad Mini 2, it’s still an excellent choice - especially if you need to deploy in-house apps that take advantage of Android’s relative flexibility over iOS.

The HP Pro Slate 12 is a wonderful device for a niche audience. Employees who are focused on data entry, and note-taking and illustrators who need digital copies of their doodles will love the Slate and its accompanying Duet Pen. However, if your job is a bit more labor intensive, and you need more power to help get you through the day, the HP Pro Slate 12 is not the right device for you.

While the key feature of the HP Pro Slate 12 is initially very impressive, we can’t help but feel that very few people will bother to use it once the novelty wears off. However, if you’re an old school note taker who vastly prefers writing on paper with a pen, instead of writing directly onto the screen with a stylus, then this could be just the device you’re looking for.

The Pro Slate 12 is a worthy productivity tool for most businesses, with great apps and reliable digitisation tech, even if the Duet Pen can't quite handle the ruled lines of certain design work and it's running a slightly outdated processor and operating system. Nonetheless, there's much more to this device than the latest innovation in note-writing and minute-taking. It's a powerful, versatile and reasonably priced tablet for its screen size. Just make sure it stays out of the sun.

HP:

Fondée en 1939, la société américaine est un important fabricant de serveurs et d'imprimantes et l'une des principales sociétés informatiques au monde. Jusqu'en 2015, la société s'appelait Hewlett-Packard Company. Après une scission, la division informatique a été renommée HP Inc.

En 2023, HP détenait une part de marché approximative de 22 % des ventes mondiales de PC, ce qui en faisait le numéro 2 après Lenovo.

Seuls les vieux jeux peuvent tourner de façon fluide sur ces ordinateurs (S'ils ne sont pas trop gourmands en ressources). Les coeurs à mémoire partagée de cette catégorie ont l'avantage d'être moins chaud et moins gourmand en énergie. Pour le bureau, internet, l'édition de photos, et le montage vidéo ces cartes graphiques n'ont aucune restrictions.

Qualcomm Adreno 330:

Intel HD Graphics (Bay Trail): Carte graphique intégrée pour tablette et ordinateur portable intégrant le SoC Bay Trail. Basée sur la carte graphique intégrée de la génération Ivy Bridge avec quatre unités d'exécution et le support de la librairie DirectX 11.

800 MSM8974: SoC ARM haut de gamme quad-core cadencé jusqu'à 2.3 GHz intégrant un circuit graphique Adreno 330 cadencé jusqu'à 450 MHz. SoC basé sur l'architecture Qualcomm Krait 400, gravé dans procédé d'une finesse de gravure de 28nm HPM.

Intel Atom:

Le processeur Intel Atom est un microprocesseur 64-bits pour ordinateurs portables petits et bon marché, les MIDs ou UMPC. La spécialité de la nouvelle architecture est dans le mode d'exécution "in order" (au lieu de l'habituel et plus rapide mode d'exécution "out of order"). Par conséquent, le coût du transistor de la série Atom est beaucoup plus faible, et donc moins cher à produire.

Z3735F: SoC Intel intégrant un processeur Intel Atom quad-core cadencé jusqu'à 1.83 GHz, une carte graphique intégrée Intel HD Graphics et un contrôleur mémoire mono canal DDR3L-RS-1333.
