Toutefois, un prix bas ne permet pas de pardonner tous les faux pas, et cette tablette en présente quelques-uns. De manière générale, cela reste un produit équilibré, qui s'assure de ne pas présenter une grande faiblesse dans un domaine en particulier. L'écran est bon dans l'ensemble, mais manque de luminosité. Les performances sont correctes et suffisantes, malgré des lacunes pour du gaming sur la durée. Le design est agréable, mais trompeur pour le consommateur, qui croira à la présence de plusieurs capteurs photos. Enfin, la qualité photo est correcte, sauf pour les photos de nuit. C'est un produit équilibré, mais imparfait et dont les défauts seront plus ou moins important selon les usages de chacun.

Je ne vais pas tourner autour du pot : mon expérience quotidienne avec une tablette Android s’est révélée étonnamment agréable. “Étonnamment” parce que les a priori autour de ces appareils sont encore bien ancrés, y compris (je l’admets), chez les journalistes et influenceurs Tech. Mea culpa. En réalité, la MagicPad 2 est capable d’accomplir tout ce que fait mon iPad Air et plus encore. Elle s’est révélée finalement plus confortable pour le multitâche, le divertissement ou encore le jeu. Une bonne surprise qui me réconcilie définitivement avec les tablettes Android. Malheureusement, je ne me sens pas encore capable de remplacer complètement mon MacBook par une tablette Android. D’abord pour des questions d’écosystème puisque j’utilise un bon paquet d’appareils Apple au quotidien.

La MagicPad 2 est accompagnée de deux accessoires. D’abord, le Magic Pencil, un stylet tactile de très bonne facture, bien équilibré et offrant une bonne sensation d’écriture. Naturellement, Magic OS est entièrement compatible avec cet accessoire (avec reconnaissance d’écriture manuscrite) et propose quelques logiciels pour en tirer parti. Le stylet est Bluetooth et se recharge sur la tranche de droite (avec le réglage du volume). Un emplacement magnétique permet de bien le positionner. Honor proposera aussi un clavier Bluetooth qui peut aussi servir de coque pour le transport.

Ces cartes devraient être capables de faire tourner tout les jeux d'aujourd'hui, mais la plupart d'entre eux uniquement en détails moyens ou faibles et avec des résolution basses. Les plus vieux jeux ou les jeux moins gourmands restent jouables avec de beaux graphismes.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 8:

SD 8s Gen 3: SoC (System on a Chip) haut de gamme pour smartphones présenté en 2024. Il intègre notamment un "Prime Core" Cortex-X4 rapide pouvant atteindre 3 GHz et 4 autres cœurs Cortex-A720 rapides de 2,8 GHz. Pour économiser de l'énergie, 3 cœurs ARM Cortex-A520 supplémentaires cadencés à 2,3 GHz ont également été installés. Un modem 5G, le WiFi 7 et un moteur d'intelligence artificielle nettement plus rapide sont intégrés.

SD 8 Gen 3: SoC haut de gamme pour smartphones présenté fin 2022 avec un noyau principal rapide basé sur une architecture ARM Cortex-X3 cadencée à 3,2 GHz. Deux autres cœurs de performance sont basés sur l'A715 et ne prennent en charge que les applications 64 bits. Les deux autres cœurs A710 prennent également en charge les applications 32 bits, tout comme les cœurs Cortex-A510 à économie d'énergie. En plus des cœurs de processeur, le SoC intègre un modem WiFi 7, un DSP Hexagon (pour l'accélération de l'IA) et un ISP Spectra. Le contrôleur de mémoire intégré prend en charge la mémoire rapide LPDDR5x jusqu'à 4 200 MHz. la 5G est incluse dans la puce avec le modem Snapdragon X70.
