Le Honor MagicBook 14 peut se targuer d'avoir plus de style que ses grands-frères, les Matebooks de Huawei. En revanche, s'il se base effectivement sur la même recette qui fait le charme de ces derniers, il a aussi hérité de leurs faiblesses. Sa webcam est toujours positionnée à un angle très contraignant. Le rétroéclairage de son clavier est presque invisible en dehors d'une pièce plongée dans le noir. Son autonomie reste vraiment faible par rapport à ce qui est promis. Enfin, la pauvreté des configurations possibles ne l'aide pas. Une petite déception mais à ce prix-là - 599 euros - ce n'est pas une si grande perte pour un notebook.

Si j'avais moi-même acheté le MagicBook 14 pour 599 euros, je serais probablement très satisfait. Mes jeux fonctionnent, je peux y travailler sans plantage et pendant les quatre prochaines années, tout matériel sera plus suffisant. En raison de sa fabrication robuste, il sera probablement encore très beau après cette période à l'exception de quelques bosses et petites éraflures.

HONOR improved the aesthetics, but halved the storage and number of speakers when moving from the HONOR MagicBook to the HONOR MagicBook 14. The screen is dimmer and the battery is smaller here than it was on the HONOR MagicBook too. They also increased the price by a rather significant RM200 to RM2499, which makes it much less than the original HONOR MagicBook. I do find it an absolutely unnecessary refresh especially as they kept the same chipset from the HONOR MagicBook, when the AMD Ryzen 4000 series processors are already widely available.

If you’re a creator on-the-go, I’d say up your budget and get something closer to the MateBook 13 which I’ve been using as a daily driver that has a better balance between performance and portability. Plus, the MateBook 13 has a much nicer 2K panel.

As far as I am aware, the HONOR MagicBook is probably one of the most affordable laptops offering the AMD Ryzen 5 3500U APU along with 8GB RAM and 512GB of storage, with a price tag of just RM2299. Even when looking beyond the hardware specifications, there is quite a lot to love from this diminutive 1.45 kg laptop. The display looks pretty great and sharp at this size and resolution, and I have no major complaints about the colors. Sound from the speakers is also better than I would have thought, it makes for a pretty good music listening experience.
