Not a CTO looking to outfit their workforce. Lots of ThinkPads sail past these difficulties regardless, but the Lenovo ThinkPad Z13 Gen 1 hits a few snags. By aiming to make a PC more obviously influenced by the lifestyle competition, it loses important parts of the series’s identity. And, the most significant issue of all, the haptic touchpad just isn’t very good. It’s likely to be significantly improved in the upcoming Gen 2 model, but think carefully about buying this first version unless you find the Lenovo ThinkPad Z13 Gen 1 selling well below its initial price. ThinkPad fans should look to the more authentic experience on the X1 Carbon. Price shenanigans aside, I really like Lenovo’s ThinkPad Z13. It meshes style and portability in a unique way, while also offering solid performance and decent battery life. Though not perfect, the Z13 gets enough right and is genuinely a joy to use. I’d recommend the Z13 to anyone looking for a stylish laptop to handle their work needs. The Z13 truly is a workhorse of a laptop and manages to get it done while looking good. Plus, I appreciate the compact size and weight for when I need to take it on the go. At the same time, things I like about the Z13 could be drawbacks for others. The small size means a small, 13.3-inch display, which could feel restrictive for some workflows. Similarly, only having two USB-C ports could be frustrating for some, though it wasn’t a major issue for me.

Overall, you get a very nice, compact, quiet, and moderately powered laptop that fits into a shoulder bag. It has a great screen, wonderful keyboard, and a great build. There are a few flaws and peccadilloes, but I don't consider anything to be a major deal breaker. The laptop starts at around $1,400 on Lenovo's website which means you can probably find it for less at a third-party retailer. The fingerprint reader gives me pause, just because this is the first laptop I've reviewed from Lenovo (and I've reviewed a lot of them) with this kind of fingerprint sensor. Other sensors in the past have given me no trouble — but considering this is the same kind of fingerprint sensor showcased on Lenovo's next upcoming foldable laptop, it seems this is the way forward for the company. I hope that the issue I had is worked out behind the scenes. Of course, if you're more of a facial recognition or PIN type of person, that won't bother you at all. Beyond that, there's really not a lot to dislike. Maybe you could ask for better airflow.

Lancé à plus de 2000 euros en 2022, l’appareil a l’avantage de se négocier à des tarifs nettement plus abordables en 2023, sans jamais donner le sentiment d’être dépassé… ce qui permet d’excuser plus facilement ses quelques lacunes. Fort d’un design réussi, d’un gabarit idéal en déplacement, d’un écran OLED ravissant et de bonnes performances dans l’ensemble, le Z13 déçoit un peu sur l’autonomie et se limite bêtement à deux ports USB-C alors qu’il aurait facilement pu adopter des connectiques plus nombreuses. Si vous le trouvez à un bon prix, il s’agit néanmoins d’un produit haut de gamme intéressant. Nous sommes de notre côté impatients de découvrir la prochaine version de l’appareil, en espérant qu'elle corrigera certains manquements de ce premier jet.

Lenovo ThinkPads are premium machines; as we mentioned, Asus' Zenbook 14X OLED costs $400 less with a discrete GPU (and $900 less for the Q420 model with comparable integrated graphics). That means we hold them to a higher standard. Like the recently reviewed Z16 Gen 2, the Z13 Gen 2 disappoints us with its lack of ports other than USB4—though that's more forgivable in an ultraportable than a desktop replacement—and changes to the classic keyboard and touchpad. It's a high-quality lightweight professional laptop, but it doesn't rise to the heights of the X1 Carbon or Dragonfly G4.

The Lenovo ThinkPad Z13 Gen 2 is an outlier among ThinkPads. Lenovo introduced the Z13 ultraportable two years ago, and it immediately stood out from the staid ThinkPad pack with its AMD-only offerings inside an incredibly compact chassis that featured a funky webcam module, haptic touchpad and the option for a synthetic leather lid. Gen 2 keeps the same recycled aluminum enclosure and updates the AMD silicon to Ryzen Pro 7000 processors while swapping the leather-like treatment for a woven flax fiber material as an optional lid covering. Our review unit didn't feature the flax fiber lid but did come equipped with the top display option, a spectacular 2.8K OLED touch panel. The ThinkPad Z13 Gen 2 is a marvel for its exceptional build quality and trim dimensions. It feels like a tiny tank of a laptop, and I have no doubts about its ability to withstand the bumps and bruises of business travel.

Where the ThinkPad stands out most is in its support for enhanced security and manageability, wixh will appeal to business buyers. I can strongly recommend the laptop for those users, while the typical consumer should look at the incoming slate of laptops for their next machine.

Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" de la légende anglaise, novo (latin) pour nouveau) a été fondée en 1984 en tant que société chinoise de commerce d'ordinateurs. En 2004, la société était le plus grand fabricant d'ordinateurs portables en Chine et, après l'acquisition de la division PC d'IBM en 2005, le quatrième au monde. En plus des ordinateurs de bureau et des ordinateurs portables, la société fabrique des moniteurs, des projecteurs, des serveurs, etc., et se spécialise dans le développement, la fabrication et la commercialisation d'électronique grand public, d'ordinateurs personnels, de logiciels, de solutions d'entreprise et de services connexes.

En 2016, l'entreprise s'est classée au premier rang mondial des ventes d'ordinateurs. Il le détenait encore en 2023 avec environ 23% de part de marché mondiale. Les gammes de produits importantes sont Thinkpad, Legion et Ideapad.

En 2011, elle a acquis une participation majoritaire dans Medion AG, un fabricant européen de matériel informatique. En 2014, Motorola Mobility a été racheté, ce qui a donné un coup de pouce à Lenovo sur le marché des smartphones.
