EN→FR Archive.org versionThe MSI GT73VR Titan Pro crams top-of-the-line tech and a gorgeous 120Hz display into one sleek design – but top-tier power demands an equally top-tier price tag.

EN→FR Archive.org versionAs you can see, the drop from twin GeForce GTX 1080s to one hasn’t had a huge impact on performance. It’s certainly not in the same 4K leagues as the Metabox Prime-X; but it’s also two grand cheaper, and with a 120Hz 1080p screen more than fast enough to play basically any game you can think of (Well, maybe not Star Citizen’s beta…). That’s not to say that this is a cheap laptop by any means – if you want the latest in Nvidia hardware, prepare for your bank account to get burned. There’s also the fact it’s a single GPU machine, so there will never be any SLI quirks. But overall, MSI has delivered a traditional desk-bender of a gaming machine, powered by the latest and greatest in every area.

EN→FR Archive.org versionOverall, the MSI GT73VR Titan is an extremely solid platform. It’s loaded with next-gen technology, runs quietly for the most part, and hovers at the top of all of our benchmark charts. My only complaint is with the 4.2GHz overclocking option, which turns out to not be an option at all. Otherwise, this is one extremely sweet gaming notebook that seems to have what it takes to dominate its class.

EN→FR Archive.org versionThe GT73VR left us with a mostly positive impression, though some complaints carried over from the last generation. Its switchable graphics are notable, as most notebooks with Nvidia G-Sync support can only run off the dedicated graphics card. Despite this feature, the GT73VR didn’t break the 3.5-hour mark in our battery-life test, which is on the low side even for a big gaming notebook. We’d furthermore like to see (or rather, hear) a better set of speakers, and some layout improvements to the otherwise fine SteelSeries keyboard. And while we appreciated the display panel’s high refresh rate and low response time, its vertical viewing angles left something to be desired.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Mobile:
