Sa construction en magnésium-aluminium lui confère solidité tout en maintenant son poids en dessous de trois livres. Bien que presque tous les ordinateurs portables de 14 pouces soient plus portables de par leur taille, l’attrait d’un grand écran sans poids ou épaisseur supplémentaire est indéniable. Le Swift Edge 16 se distingue également par son écran de meilleure qualité, un prix inférieur et même une housse de transport offerte, bien que l’autonomie de la batterie soit surpassée par celle du LG Gram SuperSlim. Pour l'accomplir, il fait un superbe travail d'équilibriste qui lui permet de frôler bien des points de tension sans jamais dépasser les limites de l'acceptable. Sa chauffe et son bruit sont un peu plus élevés que la moyenne, mais jamais trop élevé. Son autonomie est un peu plus basse que la moyenne, mais jamais trop basse. Sa luminosité n'est pas aussi haute que les autres, mais l'ordinateur n'est jamais illisible. En ressort un ultrabook impressionnant que l'on peut réellement recommander à quiconque les yeux fermés, sans avoir nécessairement à viser uniquement les personnes en quête de mobilité et d'autonomie.

Would that change? Yes, it would. In fact, we already have it: just look at smartphones. One fact worth pointing out amongst the 2023’s AI craze is that, AI-assisted features already existed in some ways when you take a photo or remove an element from an image – the compute component responsible for this is collectively called Neural Processing Units, or NPUs.

This laptop’s weak performance and uncomfortable user experience don’t deserve a $1,299 sticker price. If you can find the Acer Swift Edge 16 at a significant discount—say, during Black Friday—it might be worthwhile, but only if you think you won’t use it for any resource-intensive tasks. The Swift Edge 16’s large OLED display is certainly appealing, but there’s a similar 16-inch OLED in the Acer Swift Go 16, which retails for $100 less. The Go 16’s performance impressed us far more than the Edge 16, and while the Go 16 is nearly a pound heavier, we’d happily make that trade if it meant being able to use more complex applications. (Avoiding mid-work crashes is also worth the extra weight.) Apple’s 15-inch MacBook Air M2, which offers a lovely visual experience as well as a luxurious keyboard-trackpad combo, is also a great alternative if you’re looking to stay within $1,300.

The Swift Edge 16 has competition-beating performance scores, slapping the 15-inch M2 MacBook Air silly with its impressive processor, graphics, and video-transcoding benchmarks, but it couldn’t keep up on our file-transfer test. It has a great webcam, but its keyboard and speakers are mid. Finally, its 7-hour runtime is a bit of a bummer. If you want some better options among Acer's Swift portfolio, some of my favorites are Acer Swift X and Acer Swift 14. The former also has a 7-hour runtime, but this can be forgiven due to its power-hungry RTX 4050 GPU. The latter has integrated graphics like the Swift Edge 16, but lasts a beautiful 11 hours and 43 minutes. Hallelujah!

Acer place entre nos mains un ultraportable bien fini, léger et agréable à utiliser. Sa dalle Oled est très confortable et aurait juste gagné à être plus lumineuse et à mieux résister aux reflets. Pour le reste, le Swift Edge 16 impressionne par son niveau de performance et sa discrétion sonore. Nous aurions apprécié une meilleure autonomie, d'autant plus à l’heure où les puces ARM montent en puissance, mais le Swift Edge 16 s’affirme en tant que machine très séduisante.

En 1976, la société a été fondée à Taïwan sous le nom de Multitech et a été rebaptisée Acer ou Acer Group en 1987. R7 7840U: Processeur haut de gamme mobile à 8 noyaux avec 16 threads. Il atteint une fréquence maximale de 5,1 GHz sur chaque processeur et peut être utilisé dans des applications mono et multithreads. Il est doté de l'architecture Zen 4 et a un TDP configurable de 15 à 30 watts.
