EN→FRThe Alienware Aurora laptops target the mid-range with great all-around performance and a practical design, and the more powerful 16X makes some smart upgrades to justify its added cost. For the budget-conscious PC gamers that still want a quality device, the Alienware 16X Aurora is absolutely worth consideration — just don't expect perfection in every category, like the keyboard or speakers.

EN→FRThe larger Alienware 18 has much more going for it in terms of pure gaming chops, but that all comes with concessions some users may not like. The Alienware 16X Aurora is far easier to move around and can fit into some backpacks. It’s still not the thinnest and lightest laptop out there, but if you’re looking at Alienware specifically, this is fairly portable. The power supply is fairly large as well, so keep that in mind. The matte display on my unit was fantastic, especially because it does really well with glare. The design is distinctly Alienware; you either love it or don’t. I think it looks cool, though I am more of a minimal design lover. Gaming performance is more than respectable, and this configuration handled all the games I played without issue.

EN→FRMany times, when reviewing an Alienware gaming notebook, it's a big, heavy desktop replacement with tons of horsepower and a bunch of cooling fans to keep it under control, with a big price tag to match. But in this case, that's not what the Aurora series is about. Instead, this is a mid-sized notebook, weighing in at around six pounds, with a gorgeous, fast display, good performance for its size, and a more reasonable price tag. Alienware's metal enclosure still looks premium without the "otherworldliness" of some of the company's machines, and the minimal RGB lighting is a plus in my book. Performance-wise, the system sits in the same class as other Intel-based gaming notebooks with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 mobile chip inside.

EN→FRThere are other nice touches sprinkled throughout the 16X hardware/software offerings, including a sharp 1080p webcam, a nice selection of ports (two USB-Cs including one Thunderbolt 4, two USB-As, combo audio, HMDI 2.1 and Ethernet; sadly, a Micro-SD slot is absent) and a Stealth Mode setting that slashes hardware performance to eliminate virtually all fan noise. The entire package presents as a near-ideal mid-tier laptop. It's a delight to use, offers excellent performance and a reasonable display, and comes in with a fair price at two grand (down to $1,800 at time of writing). That's an excellent value for what's on offer given how well it's executed, especially because you can get less powerful configurations than the one I tested starting at $1,560 (down to $1,450 at time of writing), and if you want to step down even further you can get the Alienware Aurora 16 (without the X) starting for $1,500 (down to $1,300 at time of writing).

EN→FRThe Alienware 16X Aurora is an impressive machine. At $1,999 for an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX CPU, an RTX 5070, and a display of this caliber, it’s serious value compared to what you’d pay for competing laptops with similar hardware — at retail price, it undercuts many similar laptops by a few hundred bucks. It’s a great experience, but some people might want a faster GPU for better gaming performance, an OLED panel, or a higher-end all-metal build quality. You’ll pay extra for touches like that, though. This is a mid-range laptop that delivers value and doesn’t feel like a budget machine. That’s very impressive coming from a brand like Alienware that’s historically been more high-end, especially with prices climbing all around.
