EN→FRThe 2025 iPad Pro with M5 chip refines an already world-class tablet. You get faster AI performance, more memory, better wireless connectivity, and fast charging, while retaining the same beautiful display and design. If you’re serious about creative work, AI workflows, or want the most capable tablet available, this is the one to buy. For everyone else, the 2024 M4 iPad Pro still delivers incredible value. The 2025 iPad Pro with Apple’s M5 chip boosts AI power, memory, and connectivity while keeping the same stunning OLED display. The most capable tablet yet.

EN→FRThe question remains, however: What exactly is the point of the iPad Pro? Yes, it’s a wonderful tablet and, yes, it’s better than ever at that job. The screen is outstanding, it’s fast, powerful, the speakers are amazing and the battery life is great. However, when you can buy an M4 MacBook Air for £999 and not have to worry about paying extra for a keyboard – or the potential shortcomings of iPadOS as a desktop operating system – then the iPad Pro begins to look pretty poor value for money. Even the base M5 MacBook Pro is cheaper than the 13in iPad Pro M5 with keyboard and stylus. At the end of the day, people who love iPads will continue to buy them, regardless of these concerns, but I do think this is a device that, increasingly, falls into the category of “nice to have but not essential”.

EN→FRBoiling it down a little, what I’m saying is that if you need an iPad that’s capable of handling the toughest possible applications, games, or for artificial intelligence, then that’s what you’ll get with the M5 iPad Pro. If you don’t need that power yet, but might need it in the next 12 months, then it’s still worth upgrading today. Equally, if you are using an M2 iPad Pro or earlier or just want to upgrade from another older iPad model, then the M5 is a good upgrade. It’s built for the future and should see you devouring all available tasks for the next few years. The only tablet that comes anywhere near this one is, of course, last year’s iPad Pro. Which is the point, really, because with Apple Silicon, Apple is now only really competing with itself, and anyone investing their way into the company’s ecosystem is purchasing products with the power to handle the next wave of AI computing. It’s tomorrow’s tablet, and you can get it today.

EN→FRIt still feels like the M5 chip in the iPad Pro is lightyears ahead of what anyone can actually do with it. My music production project is a case in point: I could do what I’m doing in Logic just as easily on the iPad Air. The iPad Pro does have a lot going for it, though. It has a much better display (along with a nano-texture option, which I highly recommend), faster I/O, faster charging, and a chip which outclasses a lot of desktop variants, including the M4 Max. What I love about the iPad Pro, however, is how long it’ll last most people. If you’re going to put it to daily use, I’m struggling to think of another Apple product that delivers the same level of long-term value.

EN→FRThe iPad Pro M5 is the most powerful iPad you can buy. It’s also far more powerful than most laptops on the market, while being considerably smaller and lighter than most. Much like some of the MacBook Pro models, it probably has more power than you need from a tablet, but if you really want the best, this is it. As I said at the start of this review, it’s unfair to think of the iPad Pro as a MacBook alternative, as they have different skills. It’s completely conceivable that someone may want to own both an iPad Pro and a MacBook Pro but use them for slightly different purposes. There are certainly times now when I would travel with just an iPad Pro in place of my laptop, knowing that it’s more than powerful enough to handle anything I need.

EN→FRThe iPad Pro M5 is also one of those upgrades that may not be exciting for everyone who looks to the top tier of tablets. For the price tag, it may not offer a sweet enough pot to justify a purchase for some. Aside from its concrete score out of 10, I truly feel the worth in upgrading to this particular tablet is going to vary greatly depending on where you’re upgrading from. If you bought into the M4 model, you’re probably better off saving the money unless you feel you desperately need the uptick in specific Neural Engine applications; by the same token, if you have zero interest in AI features, you may want to wait for the next upgrade instead. But, if you don’t already have a tablet, or are looking to upgrade from a pre-Apple Silicon model, and you would benefit from the “Pro” features, you really can’t go wrong with the M5. While retaining its crown for creator-minded tablets, Apple's iPad Pro M5 is a small but potentially mighty upgrade, depending on your applications.

The M5 iPad Pro for 2025 Pro sticks with last year’s redesign, pricing and 11” and 13” sizes. The M5 processor with significantly fast 10 core GPU with Ray Tracing and 16 core neural engine are the big changes. The M5 iPad Pro also has faster charging, improved WiFi, more RAM and storage, and Apple’s new 5G cellular modem. As with last gen you get a 120Hz Tandem OLED display with optional Nano-texture glass.

EN→FRThe new iPad Pro M5 is the best tablet on the market. The display is significantly better than the other iPads, and Apple’s good keyboard case makes a MacBook superfluous for many users. It also offers more performance in AI applications and more RAM for the entry-level models. However, an upgrade from the M4 model is not necessary, and the much cheaper iPad Air M3 is a strong competitor.

EN→FRThe iPad Pro 13-inch (M5) is a great tablet. It has awe-inspiring performance, great battery life, a lovely screen, and iPadOS 26 has brought new life into the iPad range. However, it's also an excess for most people, easily. The super-performing M5 chip is great, but most of its computing power is wasted on a device that still arrives with a mostly limited operating system. A more affordable option like the iPad Air is also a good performer. The Tandem OLED display of the iPad Pro is excellent, but the screen of the iPad Air is good enough for most people. The internal hardware improvements are great, too, but how often would you use most of the functionalities that the iPad Pro offers? However, if you're a professional user who has outgrown their M1 iPad Pro from a few years ago, get this here M5 version.

It's also the best tablet that anyone makes — and frankly, it's the first time that performance improvements feel like they matter given the updates to iPadOS. If you have an M4 iPad Pro, you probably don't need those performance upgrades — but if you have an older model and use your iPad Pro for actual productivity or creativity tasks, rather than just content creation, the M5 iPad Pro is an excellent buy, even starting at $999.

EN→FRApple’s M5 iPad Pro is an exceptional tablet. It offers performance on par with a laptop, a stunning display, a super slim and lightweight design and solid battery life. The user interface has also seen huge multitasking improvements thanks to iPadOS 26, while the fast charging capabilities make a big difference in terms of usability. There’s still no support for multiple user profiles, accessories cost extra, and there is no getting away from the eye-watering price, no matter how much tablet you get for that money. But none of those are the iPad Pro’s biggest problem. Instead, it’s the rest of the iPad lineup that’s the issue, because almost all of them will be more than sufficient for most when it comes to performance, and they all have the same user experience.

EN→FRPerhaps what makes this decision more difficult is that the MacBook Air starts at S$1,499, while the new M5 MacBook Pro starts at S$2,199. There’s no need to get accessories to get the most out of these machines, and few would disagree that, even with iPadOS 26, MacBooks can do more than iPads. But then, no MacBook can match the iPad Pro’s versatility. If you can master iPadOS 26, the iPad Pro is a device with unparalleled flexibility and portability. You can use an iPad Pro on a desk with an external monitor, but you can also whip it out and start using it while waiting in line to board a plane. For many people, that is a very compelling proposition. One that only the iPad offers. And if you want an iPad, the iPad Pro is the best there is.

EN→FRThe M5 iPad Pro is nice in the sense that “getting a little more for your money today than you could get for the same money two weeks ago” is nice. But it changes essentially nothing for potential iPad buyers. I’m hard-pressed to think of anyone who would be well-served by the M5 iPad Pro who wouldn’t have been equally well-served by the M4 version. And if the M4 iPad Pro was already overkill for you, the M5 is just a little more so, particularly if you have an M1 or M2. People with an A12X or A12Z version of the iPad Pro from 2018 or 2020 will benefit more, particularly if you’re multitasking a lot or running into limitations or RAM complaints from the apps you’re using. But even with the iPadOS 26 update, it still seems like the capabilities of the iPad’s software lags behind the capabilities of the hardware by a few years.

EN→FRiPads are the best tablets, and most people will be best served by a cheaper iPad. Lots of what I like about the iPad Pro can be done at lower price levels too. Add a keyboard case to the iPad Air or even the entry level iPad, and you can do multitasking windows and work with Pencils too. The fast speed, extra-vivid display, and thinner size of the Pro makes the experience feel more premium. But are they worth the high price at the Pro end, and can they truly flex to become computers for everything else? The answer to that is increasingly yes, but not quite. The iPad is full of excellent creative apps, but still feels like it's missing some of the pro Mac tools for video editing and graphics that could easily be there now. Or, make Mac and iPadOS apps for pros be truly interchangeable now.

EN→FRIn the past, this was the part of the review where I praised the iPad Pro’s hardware and then pointed out that iPadOS holds it back in some ways. Happily, iPadOS 26 changes that. There’s certainly room for improvement, but it unquestionably enhances the iPad Pro’s utility and user experience, and makes it a more useful device. For longtime iPad users who can use all of the firepower that the M5 chip can deliver, the choice is clear. The iPad Pro is the one to have. Its excellent performance, display, and slender form factor will surely delight its owners. The only caveat is that all of this tablet excellence comes at a high price. Prices start at S$1,499 for the 11-inch model and S$1,999 for the 13-inch model. Once you start adding storage and accessories, the price starts to balloon quick.

EN→FRApple redesigned the iPad Pro last year, so I’m not surprised we didn’t get a major overhaul with the M5 model. While that means you don’t need to upgrade if you own the M4 iPad Pro, it’s certainly worthwhile if you own an iPad Pro M2 or older. Apple has once delivered a truly premium device that offers exceptional performance, battery life, and a stunning OLED panel. Your milleage may vary with Apple Intelligence. Features like Math Notes and Smart Scripts can be useful if you’re a math student or enjoy writing by hand (respectively), but if you’re not, these features could be superfluous. However, iPadOS 26’s more MacBook-like UI and window controls make the iPad Pro a more feasable MacBook replacement—if you’re willing to spend extra for the Magic Keyboard.

EN→FROverall, if you’re looking for the best Apple has to offer, it’s all on display here. The screen is amazing, the thin profile is astounding every time you pick it up, and the M5 chip will give you enough headroom to use this for years. If you’ve got an older M1 iPad Pro, this could be the year to upgrade. I don’t think Apple is going to drastically change the iPad Pro’s design any time soon, since the thinness is show-stopping enough, so this form factor should be the flagship style for a few years to come. Most students or first time iPad buyers should probably stick with the iPad or iPad Air for now, but if you’ve got the cash to burn, and have already been using iPads for years and are looking for an upgrade, the M5 iPad Pro lives up to the hype.

EN→FRThe iPad Pro M5 may ‘just’ be an upgraded version of last year’s redesigned version, but it takes the best tablet out there and reinforces its superiority. Last year I questioned a little why the iPad Pro had a later generation chip than any Mac at the time but it’s now clear that Apple wants to keep it a step ahead as an appealing option for people who would have otherwise bought a laptop. And – years late – it has finally listened to those of us who wanted better multitasking, though this won’t be a Pro exclusive feature of course. Interestingly, in its marketing, Apple is clearly targeting iPad Pro users with an M1 model with numerous comparisons to that 2021 version of the Pro (a mere four years old!). Clearly it feels that iPad Pro users can afford to upgrade from what is already a very capable model and as such clearly it sees those users have the cash to upgrade.
