Apple iPhone 17e

Apple iPhone 17e
ⓘ Apple

100% I switched from iPhone 16 Pro to iPhone 17e: Why this is the iPhone most people actually need
Source: The Indian Express Anglais EN→FR
The iPhone 17e works for those who do not care for advanced camera systems but feel more at ease with a device that is reliable at all times. The iPhone 17e is very intentional; it is not about cutting corners, but rather it is about focusing on what actually matters for most people. The iPhone 17e is compact, fast, reliable, and easy to use. The beauty of it is that it is not trying to be everything, and that perhaps is why it works. For the right user, the iPhone 17e might just be the perfect iPhone.

77% Apple iPhone 17e review: the gateway to that rich ecosystem
Source: 91mobiles Anglais EN→FR
Rs 64,900 is what you have to shell out to get your hands on the base variant of the iPhone 17e, which, notably, comes with 256 gigs of storage. In comparison, the iPhone 16e’s base model offered half of that. There’s no doubt that the 17e offers some noteworthy upgrades over its predecessor, but one needs to look at the bigger picture before considering it. For its asking price, you can get flagship-grade performance, cameras and battery life if you choose an Android phone instead. Phones like the OnePlus 15R (review) and the Vivo V70 Elite (review) are worthy options (that cost less too), while spending a bit more can get you options like the Vivo X300 (review). Realistically, though, anyone seriously considering the iPhone 17e would be interested in it because it’s an iPhone, and by that logic, its real rivals are its own siblings. The 128GB model of the iPhone 16 (review) is currently priced similarly and could appeal to someone looking for an iPhone with a more versatile camera setup, despite its older chipset.

80% Apple iPhone 17e review: An excellent entry-level iPhone, but it has one problem
Source: Hardware Zone Anglais EN→FR
There’s no question Apple has improved its entry-level iPhone. It gets MagSafe, and its base storage has been doubled at no additional cost. Performance and battery life have been improved with the A19 chip, while durability takes a big leap forward with Ceramic Shield 2. These are substantial improvements over last year’s iPhone 16e. However, it’s still lacking in some areas. Having just a 60Hz display is frustrating, and it’s missing features like an always-on display, the latest Photographic Styles, support for Wi-Fi 7, and the list goes on. If it’s any consolation, none of these is an outright dealbreaker. The 17e, for the most part, remains a very solid entry-level iPhone. But it’s also clear that Apple has trimmed just enough off to make users want to pony up more money for their higher-end phones. Therein lies the biggest problem with the iPhone 17e, the iPhone 17 exists, and it’s a phone that, I think, will give users more satisfaction. I’ll admit, it costs substantially more. Prices start at S$1,299, which is S$350 more or 36% more than the cheapest 17e, and that is no small amount. But consider all the extra features that are missing on the 17e and are present on the iPhone 17, and you’ll probably start to arrive at the conclusion that perhaps the iPhone 17 makes more sense, especially if you intend to keep the phone for a few years. It’s not often that I think readers should stretch their budgets, but in the case of the iPhone 17, if you can, you should.

Since sunlight cant reach inside the can - the water stays clean and pure indefinitely - just like in the underground cavern it came from. The iPhone 17e is Apples more budget friendly iPhone for 2026. And surprisingly a lot of its components are interchangeable with the iPhone 16e from last year.

I switched to iPhone 17e after months on iPhone 17: Here's what I learned
Source: Business Standard Anglais EN→FR
The iPhone 17e feels like the most complete version of Apple’s “essentials” iPhone so far. If you are upgrading from an older iPhone, especially something like an iPhone 11 or 12, this will feel like a significant step forward. It is faster, more reliable, and far easier to live with day to day. But the comparison that matters most is with the iPhone 17. Because once you look at the two side by side, the trade-offs become clearer. The iPhone 17 offers a better display, a more flexible camera system, and a more modern overall experience. And for many users, those differences will justify the extra price. The iPhone 17e, then, is for a very specific kind of user — someone who wants a simple, reliable iPhone that covers the basics well, feels premium enough, and lasts long without trying to do too much.

iPhone 17e vs iPhone 17: The $200 Mistake.
Source: Matthew Moniz Anglais
The $200 gap between these two phones sounds simple, but once you look at what Apple did under the hood, it's way more complicated than you'd think. Same A19 chip, but not the same GPU. Different modems — and the cheaper phone actually has Apple's own. Different cameras, different displays, different charging speeds. I break down every single difference so you know exactly which one is right for you.

iPhone 17e Review: Apple Just Perfected Its Entry-Level Phone
Source: Hot Hardware Anglais EN→FR
With the iPhone 17e, Apple has fixed two of the iPhone 16e’s biggest shortcomings: questionable value, and missing MagSafe support. The company achieved this by cleverly keeping the iPhone 17e’s price the same as the iPhone 16e’s ($599), but doubling the base storage (256GB vs. 128GB), upgrading the processor to Apple’s latest A19 chip, and adding built-in MagSafe support. Factor in Apple’s rich services and accessories ecosystem, and this update makes all the difference. While last year’s iPhone 16e left me scratching my head at times, the iPhone 17e makes a lot more sense. It offers the same clean design, quality display, nice cameras, excellent speakers, solid performance, and good battery life as its predecessor but delivers significantly better value. This makes the iPhone 17e much easier to recommend. And if you're wanting a little more, jonesing for an ultrawide shooter, a 120Hz screen, the Dynamic Island, Camera Control, and UWB, the iPhone 17’s got you covered. I think it's one of the best iPhones Apple’s ever made.

The iPhone 17e makes a compelling case as the best budget iPhone Apple has ever made. Starting at Rs 64,900, it packages the A19 chip, 256GB of storage, MagSafe, full Apple Intelligence support, and strong camera performance into a compact, well-crafted design. The 60Hz display and single rear camera are the obvious compromises, but they feel minor given everything else on offer. Whether you’re upgrading from an older iPhone, switching from Android, or buying your very first Apple device, the iPhone 17e delivers the full iPhone experience at a price that may end up attracting a lot of buyers.

80% iPhone 17e review: All the basics you need in a smaller, lighter form
Source: T3 Anglais EN→FR
The iPhone 17e is a great little phone that, for the most part, performs admirably. Everything it does, it does well; it just misses a couple of features that you might expect, even from an entry-level phone. The fact that this phone is £/$200 cheaper than the iPhone 17 justifies some of its feature trimming, though. Much like the MacBook Neo, costs have been saved by not including some features that the prospective buyer wouldn’t miss. If you just want a basic iPhone at the lowest price, you will be more than happy with this handset. The only slight issue is that other handsets at similar prices do offer more features – albeit not on Apple's iOS platform, should you be seeking one of the best Android phones instead (which probably isn't the case, if you're already in Apple's ecosystem). Spending extra for the full-fat iPhone 17 may seem more appealing to many, too. The benefits in the camera setup, screen and battery life could see people opt for the 17 once presented with both options. That’s perhaps no bad thing for Apple, or the buyer – if you want the better features, you pay the difference. That makes scoring the phone slightly more difficult, as yes, it’s a great phone and probably the one I’d recommend to buy for youngsters, older parents, or those just wanting a solid second phone. However, as the best mid-price option for most T3 readers, I would still suggest paying the extra for the iPhone 17.

iPhone 17e review: Apple’s affordable option still comes with trade-offs
Source: Calcalistech Anglais EN→FR
Looking for an iPhone but put off by the price? That is precisely the gap Apple is targeting with the iPhone 17e, launched last month as a lower-cost alternative to last year’s iPhone 16e. The new model introduces only modest upgrades, but aims to offer a slightly more compelling package. We tested the device, courtesy of the iDigital retail network, to assess what has changed, and what has not. It is arguably easier to list what the iPhone 17e lacks than what it includes. Several features have been removed or scaled back, likely to differentiate it as a more affordable device and because it is based on an older design. On the positive side, increased storage capacity is a meaningful improvement, and many core features remain comparable to those of higher-end models. The overall impression is of a solid mid-range device capable of competing with Android alternatives, though most competitors at this price point offer at least two cameras. Pricing strengthens its appeal. The device is available for around NIS 2,650 (approximately $848), about NIS 300 ($96) less than its predecessor and nearly NIS 1,000 ($320) cheaper than the base iPhone 17. While cheaper Android devices exist, they often compromise on quality or include unnecessary software, while similarly priced mid-range models approach the 17e’s price. Its most direct competitor may be Apple’s own previous-generation flagship, the iPhone 16, which costs slightly more but offers less storage. Overall, the 17e delivers reliable performance and represents a reasonable option for those seeking a more affordable iPhone.

This would make a solid choice for someone upgrading from an older handset, such as the iPhone 12 or 13, switching from Android, or buying their first smartphone.

80% Apple iPhone 17e review: No-frills basics
Source: Canbuyornot Anglais EN→FR
For those looking for an old school iPhone, the Apple iPhone 17e has all the features you want in a nice and compact package. Sure, there are some downsides. It's a single camera system, no Dynamic Island, and no Camera Control button. But everything else works great, from its brilliant 6.1-inch display to the powerful A19 chip. And you get MagSafe charging up to 15W, which was missing from the iPhone 16e. It certainly screams no-frills, and yet, that's exactly what makes the Apple iPhone 17e perfect for those who want an entry-level iPhone. Yes, it's not as good as the Apple iPhone 17, which feels like it got all the right upgrades this time, but it's a perfect introduction for those looking to get into the Apple ecosystem without breaking the bank.

iPhone 17e Review: Fixing Everything Wrong With Last Year's Model
Source: BGR Anglais EN→FR
The iPhone 17e is a meaningful upgrade for anyone coming from an iPhone SE, an iPhone 11, or an iPhone 12. The improvement in processing power, the addition of MagSafe, and the other upgrades over those older phones make for an excellent device overall. If you have an iPhone 16e, then it's probably not worth upgrading, but if you're due for an upgrade, and want the cheapest entry-point into Apple's ecosystem, you'll love what the iPhone 17e has to offer.

90% I love it when Apple makes a great budget device, and the iPhone 17e is an affordable powerhouse – the battery life is amazing
Source: It Pro Anglais EN→FR
The iPhone 17e seems like an internal challenge to Apple; how many of the most converted features can you fit into a budget handset? The answer this year is a lot. So you get an A19 chip and all its computational benefits. MagSafe. A pretty innovative camera system, with great video capabilities, and a rather long-lasting battery. One could argue that the camera isn't high-quality enough – Honor and Samsung are offering a lot more (lenses and software) for roughly the same price. But the overall experience of the iPhone 17e is superior, in our opinion. It comes down to what you want from your budget phone. If it's a top-of-the-range camera with video capabilities, you would surely look at the premium models anyway. For those who want a cheaper way into the Apple ecosystem, or businesses that want to find quality handsets that their employees will actually like, the iPhone 17e is undeniably a solid choice.

80% iPhone 17e review: The best value Apple phone – but it’s basic
Source: Expert Reviews Anglais EN→FR
All of this doesn’t matter a great deal, though, because Apple has taken care of the most important factor with the iPhone 17e: price. At £200 less than the iPhone 17, it almost doesn’t matter that the battery life isn’t brilliant, the display is limited to 60Hz and that there is only one camera. People are going to buy this phone anyway because it is an iPhone – and there is nothing egregiously wrong with it. However, what I would say is that, if you are willing to look outside the narrow confines of Apple’s ecosystem, there is much more value for money to be had in the Android space at around this price point. Nothing is doing stirling work in proving that smartphones in 2026 don’t have to be boring and in the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro is being generous in providing a telephoto camera for the money as well.

70% iPhone 17e Review: is it even a compromise?
Source: Phone Arena Anglais EN→FR
The iPhone 17e is not only an easy recommendation in the mid-range space, but probably the fastest phone with the most capable main camera in this price range. The iPhone 17e would be my top choice if you are looking for a compact phone, but its biggest weakness is simply the fact that it does not come in a bigger sized version. Most people I know would prefer a larger phone, and if you are among them, the newly released Nothing (4a) Pro offers that larger screen with innovative software, a cool design and excellent build quality (but a less capable main camera). If you want something from a more familiar brand, the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE remains an excellent choice that you can often find for a lower price. It gives you a triple camera system and a very capable chipset. And if your eyes are set on a small Android phone, you have the Pixel 10a as the best alternative (and one that can truly rival the iPhone main camera). At the end of the day, the iPhone 17e isn't perfect. The choppy 60Hz display and the lack of a secondary camera are certainly strange to see in 2026, but it gets the fundamentals right and for most people, that's exactly what makes it right.

iPhone 17e Might Be the Upgrade You’re Actually Looking For in 2026
Source: Exhibit.tech Anglais EN→FR
After heavy use for street photography, social media browsing, AI tools, and countless calls, the iPhone 17e offers an excellent balance of power, durability, and modern features, suitable for most users. If you don’t require additional cameras, a smoother display, or Dynamic Island, this model is arguably the best budget upgrade Apple has introduced. If you’re currently using an iPhone 13 and considering an upgrade, go for it. If you’re coming from an iPhone 16e, the improvements in MagSafe, chip performance, storage, and durability are worthwhile, but keep in mind that the 60Hz screen might feel like a downgrade if smoothness is a priority for you. Overall, I consider it a great option, especially if it were priced around ₹50,000.

80% iPhone 17e review: Apple upgrades its cheapest new smartphone
Source: The Guardian Anglais EN→FR
Apple is slowly adding more of the core iPhone features to its cheaper “e” line, which makes the iPhone 17e a better buy than last year’s iPhone 16e. That includes most of what you would expect: a fast chip, Face ID, MagSafe, long battery life and access to all the software. The screen is decent but slower and less smooth than the rest of the iPhone 17 line. The older design lacks the camera control button, an always-on screen and has a large notch at the top, but still feels good in the hand. One of the biggest downsides is the single camera on the back, which captures great photos but limits the type of shots you can get. If you are at all interested in photography, this is not the phone for you. As with its predecessor, the 17e only makes sense if you want the absolute cheapest new iPhone Apple sells and will not settle for anything else. For everyone else the iPhone 16 is available new from third-party retailers for about the same price or less refurbished.

Apple iPhone 17e Review
Source: IGN Anglais EN→FR
The iPhone 17e isn’t an impressive phone, but it has a fairly compelling formula. Its design is basic, its camera system is basic, and even its performance is fairly basic. But it’s got a solid screen, feels good in the hand, and does those basics very well. If you don’t do elaborate photography with your phone, don’t play the most demanding 3D games, and don’t need the absolute fastest device out there, the iPhone 17e may be perfect for you. It would have been more compelling at $100 cheaper, better avoiding competition from phones that bring a bit more to the table in terms of performance, design, and photography, but it’s good to see a healthy base storage capacity for the money. And until more Android makers start promising such 5-7 years of support on their midrange phones, that’s an area the iPhone 17e can have a leg up on its more exciting Android competitors.

It’s fairly hard to get excited about the iPhone 17e, but it’s not really designed as a phone to lust over – it’s just a straightforward, simple phone that does what it needs to do for anybody who wants a lower cost, brand-new iPhone. From a photography point of view, only having one lens feels rather old-hat in the current climate, but on the plus side it does at least perform very well in most situations.I’d love to see Apple including two lenses on its budget model, saving the cutbacks for other things such as the screen and so on, but there we go – perhaps next year for the iPhone 18e that’s what we’ll get.

Source: GSM Arena Anglais EN→FR
At first, the iPhone 17e seemed like an incremental refresh, but it turns out there's more to it. Apple has made meaningful upgrades over the previous generation – performance is up thanks to a faster chipset, battery life is noticeably better despite the still modest battery capacity, charging speed (both wired and wireless) sees some improvement, and MagSafe finally makes its way to the more affordable iPhone tier. Still, some of the compromises are hard to ignore in 2026. A 60Hz display that barely exceeds 1,000 nits feels outdated, charging speeds remain frustratingly slow, the single rear camera limits versatility, and the front design - with its large notch and thick bezels - looks well behind the curve.

The iPhone 17e is a very good phone, but there’s one big issue – and that’s the iPhone 17. Apple knows what it’s doing, and by giving the 17e just enough updates, but keeping stuff like a ProMotion display, additional cameras and more colours exclusive to the 17, it is forcing users to make a decision. If you simply want the cheapest new iPhone, the 17e is a good choice. And it does right many of the wrongs of the 16e. MagSafe is here – you don’t get those magnets on Google’s Pixel 10a rival – and the internals will keep this running well for a long time. It’s nice to see 256GB as the default storage option, too. But this isn’t a revolutionary device like the MacBook Neo. This is just a good iPhone, for a person who simply wants an iPhone and not much beyond that. For most, the best iPhone remains the iPhone 17.

iPhone 17e DESTROYED by Budget Android | Apple vs Nothing Phone 4a
Source: Tech Spurt Anglais
Reviewing the Apple iPhone 17e vs Nothing Phone 4a, a budget Android smartphone costing over £200 less, which still boasts better camera tech and a superior display. The iPhone 17e is poor value for money compared with cheaper rivals like the Nothing Phone 4a, as this smartphone comparison shows. That's not to say this Apple blower is second best at everything. The compact design is pleasingly hand-friendly, while the performance is better for gaming on the go. Sadly the 60Hz screen cripples the iPhone 17e, making it feel sludgy and proving less than ideal for gamers and movie fans.

90% The iPhone 17e, now a solid budget phone with minimal compromise [Review]
Source: Cult of Mac Anglais EN→FR
The iPhone 17e trims a lot of fat from the standard iPhone feature set, but feels like it includes the most important 90% of the features. It’s a great model to buy for your kid as a first phone. Or a good choice to force on somebody so cheap that, left to their own devices, would probably make do with a free BlackBerry from 2009 with a cracked screen picked out of the trash. The iPhone 17e is not an exciting phone, but it’s still a very good phone. The iPhone 17e combines Apple’s latest processor with an older design and budget feature set. It’s a phone designed to last for years at a low price point. Now with support for MagSafe, it’s compatible with a wide range of charging stands and accessories.

The iPhone 17E brings subtle yet welcome changes to Apple's budget line -- namely, MagSafe charging, a higher base storage level and a more advanced A19 chip. This year's phone shares a lot in common with the iPhone 16E, especially when it comes to the cameras and battery capacity, but it still shines in both areas. More notably, the iPhone 17E borrows a handful of features from the baseline iPhone 17, which costs $200 more. The phones have a similar feel, a 48-megapixel main camera and that A19 chip. You'll spot some notable design differences, including the iPhone 17E's prominent notch, wider bezels and the lack of a Camera Control button. If you're switching from an older iPhone like the iPhone 11 or 12, these are trade-offs you'll hardly notice, especially in light of all the relative upgrades.

iPhone 17 vs iPhone 17e: is it Worth the Extra $200?
Source: Tom's Guide Anglais
In this video, John V. breaks down the biggest differences between the Apple iPhone 17 and the more affordable Apple iPhone 17e after testing them side by side. The big surprise? Battery life. When I ran the Tom’s Guide Battery Test, the iPhone 17e lasted 12 hours and 35 minutes, which is basically the same as the iPhone 17’s 12 hours and 47 minutes. Considering the 17e costs $200 less, that result might make the cheaper phone a lot more tempting. But there are still some key differences you should know about before buying.

iPhone 17e: What's Changed, Worth The Money? | TSW269

Comparing Apple's iPhone 17e vs the 16e, including a review of the gaming performance, battery life, camera tests and more. This mid-range smartphone corrects some of those 16e mistakes, but is the iPhone 17e actually worth that £600 price? Well, no, obviously. Although Apple has sorted the storage issue and added Magsafe, the rest of the phone is mostly old junk tech that should've been left in the past. That 60Hz iPhone 17e display is worse than the screen slapped on most £200 Androids, while the camera setup is still woefully inadequate. You can get decent-enough up-close photos in decent daylight, but the tiny sensor and lack of actual zoom lens is a serious shame. Battery life is one of the highlights of the iPhone 17e, although nothing has changed here vs the 16e. You'll once again get all day play, now with Magsafe wireless charging. But don't get me started on 'Apple Intelligence', or iOS in general - while gaming is surprisingly not as hot as expected.

The iPhone 17e has a harder task on its hands than the iPhone 16e did, given how excellent the iPhone 17 is this year, but for anyone upgrading from an older iPhone or switching from Android, the 17e offers pretty much everything that matters most, without breaking the bank. It has excellent performance and a compact and well-built design, a capable single rear camera and impressive battery, all for under £600/$600. The iPhone 17e is one of the best smartphones you can get for less than $600, giving you nearly everything that makes the iPhone 17 great for a very enticing price. You simply won’t find a faster phone at this price range, and you’ll be hard-pressed to find many others that’ll get you through a full day of work and then some like the 17e does. The fact that it simply does all of the essential iPhone things for $599 will likely be enough for many; perks like the programmable Action button and MagSafe charging just make it an even better value, one that’s almost distinguishable from its pricier siblings at times.

In 2026, it feels like Apple has done the impossible. It’s managed to serve up multiple iPhones at various price points with enough meaningful differentiations to justify each tier. Meanwhile, each iPhone 17 in the full lineup is a capable and satisfying device for its price. Upgrading to the iPhone 17e from the iPhone 11, 12 or SE will certainly feel significant, although getting almost any current-gen phone will feel modern compared to those. After a lukewarm reception for the iPhone 16e last year, Apple has certainly made the appropriate course correction with the iPhone 17e. Although it still needs a few more upgrades before it’s perfect in my eyes, it is now a more compelling package that should definitely please anyone looking for a budget iPhone. Really, this is what the iPhone 16e should’ve been when it launched. By sticking to the same $599 price point as before, it’s even better knowing that the iPhone 17e gets double the starting storage and finally embraces MagSafe — all while receiving the usual annual upgrades, like the A19 chip's outstanding performance. Sure, it’s still annoyingly stuck with a single rear camera and a 60Hz display, but the new upgrades undoubtedly carry more weight this time around. So, who’s this phone for?

The Apple iPhone 17e isn’t a total reinvention of Apple’s budget iPhone — rather, it’s a refinement of the formula introduced by the Apple iPhone 16e. That phone did the heavy lifting by modernizing the design and retiring the Home button that defined the Apple iPhone SE (3rd generation); the 17e simply makes the package more compelling. Some of that freshness comes with a new Soft Pink color option alongside Black and White, but the bigger upgrades are under the hood. The iPhone 17e runs on Apple’s A19 chip and feels consistently fast in everyday use, and now starts with 256GB of storage — double the base capacity of its predecessor — while keeping the same $599 / £599 / AU$999 starting price.
