De notre point de vue, le smartphone Asus ROG Phone 5 est un excellent smartphone qui permet de jouer avec une fluidité maximale à tous les jeux. En outre, il s’avère également être un bon compagnon pour la vie de tous les jours même s’il n’est pas le plus performant en photo, mais il se rattrape par sa grande autonomie et ses capacités de charge rapides. Vraiment pensé pour le gaming, il faut jouer souvent pour en tirer tout le potentiel. Si vous jouez seulement de manière occasionnelle, regardez du côté du Zenfone 8 chez le même constructeur ou chez la concurrence comme Samsung ou Xiaomi.

Il y a des options chez OnePlus ou Samsung, tout aussi performantes avec des design plus classiques. C’est une question de goût. Enfin, si vous voulez un des meilleurs photophones, passez votre chemin.

Grâce à sa configuration technique dernier cri et son autonomie exceptionnelle, l'Asus ROG Phone 5 est un très bon smartphone pour le jeu mais aussi un très bon téléphone pour regarder des vidéos, écouter de la musique ou encore scroller sur les réseaux sociaux. Dommage qu’Asus n’ait pas exploité la puissance du processeur, de la RAM et du GPU au profit de la qualité d’image. Impossible pour le ROG Phone 5 de rivaliser avec des photophones vendus au même prix comme le Xiaomi Mi 11 ou le Samsung Galaxy S21. On regrette également que le téléphone ne soit pas certifié IP67/IP68 au vu de son tarif.

Une nouvelle fois, nous sommes très sceptiques quant à l’intérêt de posséder un « smartphone gaming ». L’Asus ROG Phone 5, malgré ses caractéristiques exemplaires, n’a pas réussi une seule fois à nous convaincre de sa réelle utilité. Face à un smartphone Android haut de gamme équipé du même processeur, le seul point positif que nous voyons est la possibilité d’utiliser des accessoires dédiés… mais peu de jeux sont compatibles. Au final, cet appareil nous semble surtout être un joli jouet (le design à base de LED devrait alors vous plaire, comme ses caractéristiques dignes d’un PC). Pour le reste, nous restons plutôt sur une tendance négative. Si vous aimez Asus, mieux vaut acquérir un Zenfone 7. Plus polyvalent et moins cher, ce smartphone vous permettra de jouer dans des conditions presque similaires. Des manettes Bluetooth façon Kunai feront tout aussi bien.

Sans oublier que le ticket d'entrée est moins élevé.
