Franchement, nous avons adoré ce laptop. Autant pour ses performances que pour tous les petits plus qu’ASUS apporte. Certains paraissent souvent inutiles, comme la synchronisation du fond d’écran avec le RGB du laptop, mais ça fonctionne. D’autres options sont plus intelligentes, comme l’ouverture de la machine sans outils. Non, vraiment, il y a de bonnes idées dans ce laptop, et des idées que seul ASUS ose tenter, ce qui en fait sa signature. Mais parlons aussi du reste, car il n’y a pas que l’accessoire. Les performances sont au rendez-vous, avec un refroidissement suffisamment efficace pour rivaliser avec un laptop équipé d’une 5090, ou du moins s’en approcher, et ce, au même tarif. Cependant, même si le refroidissement a été bien pensé pour la carte graphique, le processeur, lui, chauffe toujours, dans une machine certes pas parmi les plus bruyantes, mais tout de même audible.

The rest of the specs are exactly what you expect from a modern $3,400 gaming laptop. The mini-LED display is plenty bright and colorful. The display has a special layer that keeps reflections and glare to a minimum, even in direct sunlight. Even with Dolby Vision for HDR support, for the amount you’re paying, I still miss the inky depths of an OLED display. The display can support up to a 240Hz refresh rate, which means that your games playing at up to 240 fps will look their best, though it lacks variable refresh rate, or VRR, to ensure there won’t be screen tearing issues or other visual glitches in games running far below that. I’ll admit, the ROG Strix Scar 18’s overt lighting and huge, empty keyboard didn’t leave the best first impression.

The 2025 Asus ROG Strix Scar 18 gets a redesign along with the significantly improved Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX CPU and your choice of NVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti / 5080 /5090 dedicated graphics. This is Asus’ high end offering (there’s also a 16” size). It has a 2560 x 1600 mini LED Nebula HDR 240Hz G-Sync display with 2k dimming zones and backlight control, a tactile per key RGB keyboard, WiFi 7, Thunderbolt 5 and upgradable RAM and SSDs. The AniMe Vision LED animated strip on the lid is new for this model.

The ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 18 (2025) manages to strike a balance that will probably satisfy a good number of gamers of different aesthetic preferences. It cuts a rather captivating image of a powerful portable machine that can handle any task without breaking a sweat. Yes when you turn the RGB lights on and bring the AniMe Vision display to life, it immediately transforms into a dynamic battle station that will carry you to victory. The price tag is definitely a bitter pill to swallow, but you can rest assured that you’re getting you’re money’s worth, especially in the long term.

If you want a gaming machine that you can lug around with you and don’t might the girth and weight, the ROG Strix SCAR 18 will reward you even while it gives you a little exercise. To begin with, the large size is necessary to gain access to that awesome mini-LED display that’s as bright and colorful as any I’ve reviewed — and even better than most. And then the performance is also excellent, even if it’s not the fastest I’ve reviewed. It will keep up with everything you throw at it, from gaming to creative workflows, without breaking a sweat. It’s not inexpensive, but that’s not to be expected with such a well-designed gaming machine.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 Laptop: Carte graphique rapide de la famille Blackwell pour ordinateurs portables, basée sur la puce GB203 et utilisant 8 192 shaders et 16 Go de mémoire graphique GDDR7 (bus graphique 256 bits).

Ces cartes graphiques devraient être capables de faire tourner tout les jeux récents (avec quelques exceptions) en haute résolution avec un bon niveau de détail.

Ultra 9 275HX: Unité centrale mobile haut de gamme pour les ordinateurs portables de jeu, basée sur l'architecture Arrow Lake. Il offre 24 cœurs, dont 8 cœurs de performance rapide pouvant atteindre 5,4 GHz et 16 cœurs d'efficacité plus petits pouvant atteindre une vitesse d'horloge de 4,6 GHz. Le CPU peut accéder à 40 Mo de cache L2 et 36 Mo de cache L3 et est spécifié avec un TDP de 55 watts. Le SoC intègre un petit NPU dédié appelé AI Boost avec 13 TOPS (Int8) et supporte en option vPro Essentials.
