I personally didn’t lose much sleep over the XPS rebranding last year, the way many of my colleagues did, but I’m sure the XPS’s triumphant return from exile will make plenty of people happy. What I care far more about, though, is the redesign of these two laptops, particularly the Function keys and the trackpad. Those fixes alone make this the one laptop I’m most excited to test out in the next few weeks, and if Intel Panther Lake can live up to its hype, these two models just might be the laptops to buy in 2026.

It feels like only a year ago that Dell killed all branding on its laptops, telling journalists we were wrong when we almost universally told them they were crazy. That's because it was only a year ago, but the company has seen the error of its ways and it's bringing back XPS, starting with a new Dell XPS 14 and XPS 16. In a CES 2026 pre-briefing, Dell reps didn't mince words. It completely owned the blunder of discontinuing the most recognizable brand in Windows consumer laptops.

The Dell XPS 14 (2026) might be a modern-day “New Coke” situation, but I’m glad the company listened to user feedback and returned to what has always worked for this iconic laptop line. Not only is this a brilliant redemption story, it’s also a fantastic Windows laptop that offers stunning performance and strong battery life in an elegant, refined design. If you aren't tied to the Windows ecosystem and want a notebook that offers even stronger raw performance and longer battery life, the MacBook Pro 14-inch (M5) remains an excellent alternative. This is especially true considering the entry-level MacBook Pro costs $600 less than the XPS 14 configuration I reviewed here.

Dell:

Dell est un fabricant américain (basé au Texas) de matériel informatique fondé en 1984 et l'un des plus grands fabricants internationaux en termes de parts de marché et de modèles d'ordinateurs portables. Sa gamme de produits comprend des ordinateurs de bureau, des ordinateurs portables, des systèmes de stockage, des moniteurs, des serveurs, des imprimantes, des appareils électroniques grand public et des périphériques. Dell propose des ordinateurs portables adaptés à diverses applications, telles que les ordinateurs portables professionnels, les ordinateurs portables de jeu, les ultra-portables et les postes de travail. Les ordinateurs portables professionnels Dell des séries Latitude et Precision sont une option pour les utilisateurs professionnels et les entreprises.

Intel Intel Graphics 4 Xe3: L'Intel Graphics 4 Xe3 est une carte graphique intégrée dans les SoC Panther Lake avec 4 cœurs Xe3 (32 EUs / 512 ALUs), 4 cœurs de raytracing et une fréquence d'horloge allant jusqu'à 2450 MHz.

Intel Panther Lake:

Ultra 7 355: SoC mobile de milieu de gamme à 8 cœurs de la famille Panther Lake avec 4 cœurs de GPU Xe3. Le NPU 5 intégré offre 50 TOPS comme sur Lunar Lake et offre désormais le support de FP8.

Ultra X7 358H: SoC haut de gamme à 16 cœurs de la famille Panther Lake pour ordinateurs portables avec 12 cœurs de GPU Xe3. Le NPU 5 intégré offre 50 TOPS comme dans Lunar Lake et offre désormais le support de FP8.
