The HP EliteBook 8 G1a combines a premium metal build quality with AMD Ryzen AI 7 PRO 350 hardware. In many ways, the result is an excellent, well-balanced machine. AMD’s chips are highly underrated right now. They don’t match the CPU performance you’ll find in a high-end workstation or the battery life you’ll find in a thin-and-light laptop, but they offer an excellent mix of both. Plus, this delivers an NPU fast enough for Copilot+ PC features, so the AI features here aren’t just marketing. If apps ever start taking more advantage of NPUs, you’ll want a fast one like the 50 TOPS NPU here — not the 12 TOPS NPU Intel is still delivering in most PCs. But this isn’t the be-all, end-all business laptop. The display drags down the overall experience, and the graphics performance just isn’t up there with the CPU and NPU performance.

The HP EliteBook 8 Flip 13 (G1i) is an odd duck, but it's also the right duck for a lot of professionals who need a compact, long-lasting, and versatile laptop for work — with a lot of features and options packed in that you simply can't find elsewhere. Add every option, and you could end up paying over $5,000 for a laptop that's less premium in many respects than more traditional flagships, but those laptops can't do what this one does. Also, it's pretty regularly on sale (while I'm writing this review, it's exactly 50% off on all configurations at HP.com). It's a truly unique laptop, and I can't help but praise it — even if the display and performance aren't anything to write home about. If you have a feeling this is the perfect productivity partner you've been seeking, you can get the HP EliteBook 8 Flip 13 (G1i) from $2,324 at HP.com (but, again, watch out for frequent discounts).

But not all parts of this machine are quite so premium. I was expecting more from the webcam and microphone, and the display is the main part of the machine that doesn’t stand out. As far as performance, the story here is the story of Intel’s CPU troubles. After reviewing Lunar Lake laptops, I wince at seeing $2,000 Intel-powered productivity laptops with significantly lower graphics performance and power efficiency. And the Arrow Lake CPU here doesn’t deliver noticeably faster performance than Lunar Lake CPUs in our benchmarks.

HP:

Fondée en 1939, la société américaine est un important fabricant de serveurs et d'imprimantes et l'une des principales sociétés informatiques au monde. Jusqu'en 2015, la société s'appelait Hewlett-Packard Company. Après une scission, la division informatique a été renommée HP Inc.

En 2023, HP détenait une part de marché approximative de 22 % des ventes mondiales de PC, ce qui en faisait le numéro 2 après Lenovo.

Ces cartes devraient être capables de faire tourner tout les jeux d'aujourd'hui, mais la plupart d'entre eux uniquement en détails moyens ou faibles et avec des résolution basses. Les plus vieux jeux ou les jeux moins gourmands restent jouables avec de beaux graphismes.

AMD Radeon 860M: Un iGPU à architecture RDNA 3.5 assez puissant qui a fait ses débuts au début de 2025 et qui est le successeur direct de la Radeon 760M. Ses 8 CUs/WGP (512 shaders unifiés) tournent à une vitesse pouvant atteindre 3 GHz. DX12 Ultimate, le ray tracing, la génération d'images AI et d'autres fonctions modernes sont tous pris en charge ici, ainsi que de nombreux codecs vidéo populaires, y compris avant tout AVC, HEVC, VP9 et AV1. Ses performances de jeu sont suffisantes pour jouer à 2024 jeux avec des paramètres graphiques bas.

Intel Graphics 4-Core iGPU (Arrow Lake): Carte graphique intégrée basée sur l'architecture Xe LPG (similaire aux GPU Arc dédiés, mais avec un accent sur l'efficacité). Fournit 4 cœurs Xe (64 moteurs vectoriels Xe) et 4 unités de traçage de rayon.

AMD Strix / Gorgon Point:

Ryzen AI 7 PRO 350: Un processeur relativement puissant de la famille Krackan Point qui a été introduit au début de l'année 2025. L'APU intègre 8 cœurs de processeur (4 cœurs Zen 5 pouvant atteindre 5 GHz et 4 cœurs Zen 5c pouvant atteindre 3,5 GHz). Par rapport à la puce grand public presque identique, le processeur Ryzen AI 7 350la variante PRO prend en charge des fonctions de gestion et de sécurité supplémentaires.

Intel Arrow Lake:

Ultra 7 265U: Puce de milieu de gamme supérieure de la famille Meteor Lake qui a fait ses débuts en décembre 2023. Ce processeur Core Ultra de 1ère génération est venu remplacer les processeurs Core de 13ème génération ; il dispose de 12 cœurs (2 + 8 + 2) et de 14 threads. Ses cœurs Performance, au nombre de 2, tournent jusqu'à 4,9 GHz tandis que ses cœurs Efficient, au nombre de 10 (8 cœurs principaux plus 2 supplémentaires trouvés dans le Low Power Island) tournent jusqu'à 3,8 GHz. L'Intel Arc Graphics à 4 cœurs, tout juste sorti du four, sert d'adaptateur graphique intégré - il fonctionne jusqu'à 2,0 GHz - et une foule d'autres technologies flambant neuves sont également proposées, notamment le NPU AI Boost intégré avec deux moteurs Gen 3 pour l'accélération matérielle des charges de travail d'IA. vPro Enterprise et des fonctions centrées sur l'entreprise, telles que Remote Platform Erase, sont également embarquées. La consommation de base de ce processeur pour ordinateur portable est de 15 W, la consommation maximale recommandée par Intel pour le Turbo étant de 57 W.
