With an RTX 5090 and Intel Ultra 9 275HX, we put this up to some of the best gaming laptops with AMD and Intel CPUs alongside the RTX 4090. Well it turns out that the Legion 9i is amazing in a lot of ways but it falls short in others.

The Lenovo Legion 9i is a design statement that looks great and proves enjoyable to use day-to-day. It also delivers strong game performance and an incredible array of leading-edge ports. These benefits are countered by a mediocre display with a 1200p/440Hz (or, alternatively, glasses-free 3D) mode that’s of questionable use. CPU performance also fell short of expectations. Still, the Legion 9i is a reasonable choice if you care mostly about GPU performance and will often connect the laptop to an external display.

As for the battery life, while the 99.9Wh battery isn’t going to get you through a 12-hour session of gaming, it is in line with what I’ve seen from similar rigs. The note on battery life worth mentioning, though, is Lenovo’s Super Rapid Charge feature, which sees the battery go from 0-100% in 80 minutes, with a 30-minute charge getting you all the way to 70%. It’s the first time I’ve seen a rapid charge system at play in a premium gaming laptop, and I am impressed. While not the most powerful of this generation’s 18-inch gaming laptops, the Legion offers some of the best dollar of hardware value I’ve seen. Cheaper than all of the other models I’ve mentioned, the Legion 9i offers a similar top-tier gaming experience at a fraction of the price of the competition. While subjective, it’s also the best looking while doing it with the RGB lighting and textured cover plate being standout features.

Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" de la légende anglaise, novo (latin) pour nouveau) a été fondée en 1984 en tant que société chinoise de commerce d'ordinateurs. En 2004, la société était le plus grand fabricant d'ordinateurs portables en Chine et, après l'acquisition de la division PC d'IBM en 2005, le quatrième au monde. Ultra 9 275HX: Unité centrale mobile haut de gamme pour les ordinateurs portables de jeu, basée sur l'architecture Arrow Lake. Il offre 24 cœurs, dont 8 cœurs de performance rapide pouvant atteindre 5,4 GHz et 16 cœurs d'efficacité plus petits pouvant atteindre une vitesse d'horloge de 4,6 GHz. Le CPU peut accéder à 40 Mo de cache L2 et 36 Mo de cache L3 et est spécifié avec un TDP de 55 watts.
