The fastest gaming laptop we've ever tested is here and its the Legion 9i which has a brand new design for 2025. With an RTX 5090 and Intel Ultra 9 275HX, we put this up to some of the best gaming laptops with AMD and Intel CPUs alongside the RTX 4090. Well it turns out that the Legion 9i is amazing in a lot of ways but it falls short in others.

Just like its smaller sibling, the Lenovo Legion 9i doesn't care if anyone is watching. It's not quite the heaviest gaming laptop, but it's not far off, and the 18-inch display cuts an imposing figure on anyone's desk. It's not that portable, but it is a true desktop replacement in every sense of the phrase, and doesn't fall into the trap of bad thermal performance when chasing thin-but-powerful gaming options. If you don't want a desktop PC and a lightweight laptop, this is the dual-use device for you. You won't want to be far away from a power socket, but you'll be able to do anything you would normally do on a powerful desktop PC while still retaining some degree of freedom.

The note on battery life worth mentioning, though, is Lenovo’s Super Rapid Charge feature, which sees the battery go from 0-100% in 80 minutes, with a 30-minute charge getting you all the way to 70%. It’s the first time I’ve seen a rapid charge system at play in a premium gaming laptop, and I am impressed. While not the most powerful of this generation’s 18-inch gaming laptops, the Legion offers some of the best dollar of hardware value I’ve seen. Cheaper than all of the other models I’ve mentioned, the Legion 9i offers a similar top-tier gaming experience at a fraction of the price of the competition. While subjective, it’s also the best looking while doing it with the RGB lighting and textured cover plate being standout features.

Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" de la légende anglaise, novo (latin) pour nouveau) a été fondée en 1984 en tant que société chinoise de commerce d'ordinateurs. En 2004, la société était le plus grand fabricant d'ordinateurs portables en Chine et, après l'acquisition de la division PC d'IBM en 2005, le quatrième au monde. En plus des ordinateurs de bureau et des ordinateurs portables, la société fabrique des moniteurs, des projecteurs, des serveurs, etc., et se spécialise dans le développement, la fabrication et la commercialisation d'électronique grand public, d'ordinateurs personnels, de logiciels, de solutions d'entreprise et de services connexes.

En 2016, l'entreprise s'est classée au premier rang mondial des ventes d'ordinateurs. Il le détenait encore en 2023 avec environ 23% de part de marché mondiale. Les gammes de produits importantes sont Thinkpad, Legion et Ideapad.

En 2011, elle a acquis une participation majoritaire dans Medion AG, un fabricant européen de matériel informatique. En 2014, Motorola Mobility a été racheté, ce qui a donné un coup de pouce à Lenovo sur le marché des smartphones.

Ces cartes graphiques devraient être capables de faire tourner tout les jeux récents (avec quelques exceptions) en haute résolution avec un bon niveau de détail.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop: La GeForce RTX 5090 Mobile utilise la puce GB203 et utilise 10 496 shaders / cœurs CUDA sur les 10 752 que compte la puce. La RTX 5090 Laptop est donc plus proche de la RTX 5080 (même puce) que la RTX 5090 Mobile RTX 5090 de bureau avec 20 760 cœurs et des fréquences d'horloge plus élevées.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 Laptop: Carte graphique rapide de la famille Blackwell pour ordinateurs portables, basée sur la puce GB203 et utilisant 8 192 shaders et 16 Go de mémoire graphique GDDR7 (bus graphique 256 bits).

Intel Arrow Lake:

Ultra 9 275HX: Unité centrale mobile haut de gamme pour les ordinateurs portables de jeu, basée sur l'architecture Arrow Lake. Il offre 24 cœurs, dont 8 cœurs de performance rapide pouvant atteindre 5,4 GHz et 16 cœurs d'efficacité plus petits pouvant atteindre une vitesse d'horloge de 4,6 GHz. Le CPU peut accéder à 40 Mo de cache L2 et 36 Mo de cache L3 et est spécifié avec un TDP de 55 watts. Le SoC intègre un petit NPU dédié appelé AI Boost avec 13 TOPS (Int8) et supporte en option vPro Essentials.
