Geared toward content creators whose work has them on the go, the Lenovo Slim Pro 7 offers an uncommon combination of power and portability. It's built around a 14.5-inch, 90Hz display and powered by an AMD Ryzen 7 and entry-level Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 discrete graphics. Content creation laptops usually pair a dedicated GPU with a larger 16- or 17-inch display that provides a larger canvas on which to work at the expense of travel ease. With a 14.5-inch display and thin, compact chassis, the Lenovo Slim Pro 7 weighs only 3.5 pounds and makes a better travel companion than a full-size mobile content creation station. And while the display may be smaller than the usual, it's fine and fast with a 2.5K resolution that's finer than the usual full-HD resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate that's faster than the typical 60Hz panel.

If you’re looking for a laptop for general web browsing and productivity, there are plenty of lower-priced options like the Acer Aspire 5 that may meet your needs. That said, if you edit photos, videos, or even audio and think you need a little extra power, the Lenovo Slim Pro 7 14 is a better choice than models with lower-spec CPUs or integrated graphics. Speaking of graphics, while the RTX 3050 isn’t a powerhouse, it’s got more than enough juice for casual gaming. If you’re heading out on a road trip to shoot and edit some video but want to get in on a little Fortnite or even more heavy-duty games, the GPU will handle it. You may need to lower some settings, but the Slim Pro 7 14 will run most games you throw at it.

We would have given the Slim Pro 7 even higher marks, but our verdict changed halfway through our testing, because the Slim Pro 7's initial $999.99 price at Best Buy turned out to be a sale with the true tag $200 higher—i.e., a near match for the HP Pavilion Plus 14, which is lighter and has a more dazzling, higher-resolution OLED display. At the lower price, the Lenovo is a winning combination of above-average CPU and GPU performance for users of more demanding content creation apps rather than just Microsoft 365, so it's well worth hoping for another sale.

If you’re looking for a thin and light laptop for demanding productivity work, with some light creative tasks tossed into the mix, and you don’t want to spend a lot of money, then the Lenovo Slim Pro 7 is a great choice. It provides excellent performance and the ability to play some games as long as you use the right settings, and it’s well-built and comfortable to use. You can spend more money on a 14-inch laptop, but there’s no reason to do so unless you’re looking for an OLED or mini-LED display. The Slim Pro 7 might not be the most exciting laptop in the world, but it should meet the needs of most people.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 6GB Laptop GPU:

Carte graphique de milieu de gamme pour ordinateur portable de jeu, basée sur la puce Ampere GA107. Elle offre 2560 shaders et est proposée en différentes variantes TGP (consommation d'énergie) de 35 à 80 watts avec différentes vitesses d'horloge et donc différentes performances. Rafraîchissement de la RTX 3050 avec 6 Go, un nombre de shaders plus élevé mais une bande passante mémoire réduite à 96 bits.

Ces cartes graphiques de milieu de gamme peuvent faire tourner tout les jeux récents de façon fluide. Les jeux gourmands ne peuvent être joués qu'avec les détails réglés sur moyen.
