EN→FRThe Redmagic Astra is now available on the Redmagic website with a starting price of $550 for the 12 GB + 256 GB option. The 16 GB + 512 GB model we tested costs approximately $700, while the even more powerful 24 GB + 1 TB model will set you back around $900. This is actually a steal as the comparable iPad mini starts at $500 for their 128 GB model. If you want more storage in an iPad mini, you'll have to pay $600 for 256 GB or $800 for 512 GB as of late 2025. As of publish time for this review you can purchase this tablet on the Redmagic website (and may be able to find it on Amazon if you're lucky). You can pick between two color options — the silver Starfrost or the black Eclipse. You can also get it with accessories, like the Redmagic Astra case, to help improve your grip, or one of a variety of gaming controllers for Android if you want to retain the console experience.

EN→FRAs of right now, I've not tested any other small tablet that's better for gaming than the RedMagic Astra. The Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 3 has last year's specs, an outdated design and only one configuration. If you can find it on sale, it's worth it, but at $549, the Astra is hands-down the better option. The iPad Mini has huge bezels and nowhere near the power of the Astra, plus it's more expensive. And you're stuck in Apple's ecosystem, which has its own set of problems.

EN→FRThe RedMagic Astra is a powerful gaming tablet. Its embedded cooling system and bypass charging let you play longer while maintaining battery health. And its OLED screen exhibits punchy colors and true blacks while producing smooth animations and instant feedback when touched. If you are looking for a capable, compact Android gaming tablet, the Astra easily meets the challenge. However, for a less-expensive and more well-rounded tablet experience, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE remains our Editors' Choice due to its larger screen, useful Galaxy AI capabilities, watertight build, and longer support commitment.

EN→FRThe Redmagic Astra is a very nice device to use. Lightweight, easy to hold, but with plenty of power under the hood. Battery life is good, and with the right charger, you can get back up and running pretty quickly. If you want a compact, portable gaming platform, plus the full power of Android at your fingertips, then you’ll have to go a long way to beat the Redmagic Astra.

The higher configurations of the Astra, including the one I tested, are expensive, and you still have to pay extra for any accessories if you want them. But if you're all in on mobile gaming, there is no better device for it right now than the Astra.

EN→FRThe RedMagic Astra costs €499, which makes it pretty much a no-brainer. You just cannot get a more powerful tablet at that price, with a compact yet premium OLED at that. The RedMagic Astra aced the screen and performance tests (especially the GPU stress test), it offers sophisticated gaming software, there is a built-in cooling fan, and it supports various first-party accessories such as a dedicated gaming pad. It can last over 8h when gaming on a single charge. And it supports charging bypass, too. Sure, the Astra's speakers are so-so, and the battery life for browsing is not as long as we would have liked it to be. But as we see it, the Astra is the ideal compact tablet - perfect for gaming and multimedia, for power users, and even for the regular day-to-day tasks. The RedMagic Astra fits almost everywhere, and we think it will find a lot of fans out there for being small and powerful.

EN→FRHonestly, yes. If you’re into mobile gaming and you’re looking for a device that performs exceptionally well when playing games, this is a device that does that and then some. It’s got a beautiful display, a high-powered chipset, lots of RAM and storage, and it’s thin and light. Not to mention it has what I feel is the perfect size display for not only mobile gaming, but a tablet in general. The Astra isn’t perfect, but it comes close, and that’s certainly in no small part due to the affordable price tag. With a starting price of $599, the Astra is definitely an attainable gaming device for plenty of consumers. I highly recommend it if you have the money to spare. Would I use this over the Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 3 personally? No. But that’s because I have a mobile controller with a USB-C direct connection that I love using, and I want the tablet centered between the two sides of the controller.

EN→FRRedMagic is taking the fight to Apple when it comes to small tablets. The Astra gaming tablet offers a one-two punch of the latest Snapdragon processor alongside an OLED screen with a 2.4k resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. The design is cool without being garish, and while the price may seem high, what you get in return is undeniable. Battery life isn't going to outperform larger form factors, but if you want a small, powerful Android device, then this is what you should get.

EN→FRThe REDMAGIC Astra Gaming Tablet successfully navigates the tricky balance between gaming functionality and mainstream appeal. Its thoughtful design choices, from the restrained aesthetics to the practical port placement, show a genuine understanding of what users actually want from a gaming tablet. While it’s not perfect, particularly regarding sustainability concerns and premium pricing, the device delivers on its core gaming promises with surprising style and sophistication. For design-conscious users seeking serious mobile gaming performance, the REDMAGIC Astra represents a compelling option that doesn’t compromise aesthetic sensibilities. Its combination of premium materials, thoughtful ergonomics, and powerful hardware creates a device that feels equally at home in professional environments and gaming setups. The REDMAGIC Astra proves that gaming devices can be both functional and beautiful, setting a new standard for what portable gaming should actually look like.

EN→FRThat's an excellent question right there! The RedMagic Astra gaming tablet caters to a very specific audience. On the one hand, people who enjoy some heavy and competitive mobile gaming but, for some reason, find most smartphones too small in terms of display size. On the other hand, though, the Astra lacks dedicated hardware controls such as shoulder buttons or capacitive zones to give you that extra precision and flexibility during gaming, so it's a pros-and-cons situation. There are some very strong sides to this slate – the display is simply amazing, and the 165 Hz refresh rate is super smooth. There's power on tap you can use in non-gaming scenarios as well, and the compact nature of the Astra makes it a perfect travel buddy. But you have to outweigh this against the kind of short battery life, the lack of wireless charging and the mediocre camera if you want to use it as a non-gaming regular tablet.

Of course it's the performance where this skinny slab is the winner. I did notice some overheating when gaming on the most stressful Android titles like Wuthering Waves, which resulted in some slight throttling after a couple of hours. However, the RedMagic Astra gaming tablet did handle it on the top detail settings rather well. Battery life is good enough so you can keep gaming for over four hours, or double that with lighter, optimised options like Call of Duty Mobile.

EN→FRI found the display to be quite excellent. I'm a real fan of the OLED screen in this tablet, and the 1,100 to 1,600 nits of peak brightness really complements HDR content too. I did not have too much trouble viewing the screen under indirect sunlight, although it was not quite as bright as my Galaxy S23 Ultra, but that makes sense considering the S23's display is rated for 1200 nits (HBM), 1750 nits (peak) which is slightly more than the Astra Gaming Tablet's 1,100 (hbm) 1,600 (peak) screen. It also ticks the boxes on media consumption support and for being just over a third of a kilo at 370 grams. What's not to like? Well, it does not support cellular for things like a data SIM, and there's no charger in the box in any region, but you do get a whole lot of tablet for that. You may be wondering why I did not include anything about the cameras.
