It’s hard to fault the Helios 16. It has the speed and the features to run today’s most demanding games, and it’s not going to struggle with tomorrow’s. It has a beautiful screen that will make the most of any new-fangled graphics tech. If I had £3,000 to spend on a gaming laptop, I’d have this one high up on my shortlist. It gives you everything that was great about the awesome ROG Strix Scar 16, but at a lower price.

L'Acer Predator Helios 16 est une véritable bête de course, porté par un processeur aux performances impressionnantes et une très bonne carte graphique. La RTX 4070 est un bon équilibre entre prix et performances, aidé par les technologies NVIDIA comme le DLSS 3 et le ray-tracing. S'il ne tutoie pas l'ultra-performance (4K), le Predator Helios 16 est redoutable d'efficacité. Il se montre toutefois très bruyant en mode turbo, mais on peut assez facilement contourner ce problème. Surtout, il compense en proposant un système de refroidissement à la hauteur des composants proposés : impressionnant.

La RTX 4070 représente le juste équilibre entre prix et performances. L’Intel i9 de 13e génération, nourri par 32 Go de RAM DDR5, nage partout, comme un poisson dans l’eau. L’Helios 16 constitue un PC portable ultra-performant pour jouer confortablement aux derniers jeux en haute définition, mais aussi parfait pour les créatifs numériques qui ont besoin de CPU, de GPU, mais aussi de RAM. Son autonomie est par ailleurs excellente pour un PC gamer. Sans le moindre doute, on préfère un PC bruyant (à quelques moments) et très bien refroidi qu’un PC bridé et asthmatique.

This laptop is going to be popular for many reasons: beyond the large, 16-inch Mini-LED (2560 x 1600 resolution) display with a fantastic 16:10 aspect ratio, the Helios 16 delivers a powerful Hexadeca-core (16 Core) Intel processor and an Nvidia RTX 4069 GPU that’s optimized for gaming and productivity. More importantly, our complaints here are standard traits of affordable gaming laptops and they don’t affect gaming performance at all. The Helios PH16-71-74UU is large and hefty, and its battery life in gaming is middling, but its performance in these areas is no worse than its competition. And despite its value, the Helios 16 is a sturdy laptop with a beautiful design that’s like to win accolades.

Usual concerns about the battery life of gaming laptops aside, this is a machine that you could feasibly use for both work and play. It's fast, not too heavy and a comfortable typing experience, while also doubling as a portable gaming powerhouse.

L'Acer Predator Helios 16 est à la fois un ordinateur portable de jeu solide et silencieux avec de nombreux aspects haut de gamme. Grâce à la RTX 4060 économique et à son système de refroidissement sophistiqué, les sessions de jeu ne se traduiront pas par une surdité soudaine malgré le puissant processeur à 16 cœurs. Nous avons également été positivement surpris par l'écran QHD rapide et bien que nous n'ayons pas eu affaire à la variante d'écran mini-LED, son déploiement peut être trouvé dans l'éclairage principal.

Once again, the Acer Predator Helios is ready to inspire many people. It is clearly a medium-high-end gaming notebook, which has a ton of capabilities. The inclusion of a super well-populated port selection is great. Two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a MicroSD card slot, three USB Type-As, and more will be enough for pretty much everybody. Its internals are easy to access (although you need the slightly less common Torx screwdriver). You can upgrade your memory, and your storage, as there are two slots for either of them. Acer Predator Helios 16 (PH16-71)’s IPS panel has a WQXGA resolution with a 16:10 aspect ratio, comfortable viewing angles, a good contrast ratio, and a high maximum brightness. The standard attributes of gaming laptops, in the form of RGB lighting and even removable panels on the case, are also here. You can complain about the weak sound of the speakers (which is a common problem for most competitors), and the not very convenient location of the USB-A pair on the right side (where they can interfere during games). Ce qui fait vraiment sortir du lot le Predator Helios Neo 16 de 2023, c'est son écran très lumineux. Un point sur lequel ses concurrents qui cherchent eux aussi le rapport qualité/prix choisissent trop souvent de faire un sacrifice. Si vos précédentes configs étaient difficilement lisibles en été, le Predator Helios Neo 16 sera votre plus grand allié. Autrement, il faut avouer que le PC portable gamer ne sort pas particulièrement du lot. Que ce soit dans son design, très classique et fait de plastique, ou dans ses performances. Et que dire de ces ventilateurs très bruyants : un point commun à de nombreux appareils, mais toujours difficile à excuser sur le segment. Reste que pour ce qu'il offre, il s'agit d'un bon PC gamer au bon prix.
