Le GPU pour ordinateur portable NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 (nom de code GN21-X9) est un GPU pour ordinateur portable haut de gamme. Il est basé sur la même puce AD104 que la RTX 4070 Ti et utilise l'architecture Ada Lovelace. La puce AD104 offre un maximum de 7 680 shaders (par exemple, la RTX 4070 Ti Desktop) dont la RTX 4080 Laptop utilise 7 424 et un bus mémoire de 192 bits. La RTX 4080 mobile utilise 12 Go de mémoire graphique dédiée GDDR6 avec une vitesse d'horloge de 16 ou 20 Gbps (effective). La puissance graphique totale (TGP) peut être configurée entre 60 et 150 watts (+ 25 watts de boost dynamique du CPU), ce qui permet d'obtenir différents niveaux de performance (la RTX 4070 Ti de bureau utilise 285 watts à titre de comparaison). La vitesse d'horloge du boost va de 1350 MHz (à 60 Watt TGP) jusqu'à 2280 MHz (150W). Par conséquent, les performances dépendent aussi beaucoup de la puissance utilisée pour la RTX 4080 mobile dans l'ordinateur portable.
Les performances synthétiques de la RTX 4080 sont clairement supérieures à celles de la RTX 3080 Ti mobile dans nos tests et ne sont dépassées que par celles de la RTX 4090 mobile. Dans les jeux réels, nous avons vu que même les jeux exigeants avec Raytracing activé (comme F1 23) pouvaient être joués en QHD et avec les paramètres maximum. Des jeux moins exigeants comme Baldur's Gate 3 peuvent être joués en 4k (voir les résultats ci-dessous).
La RTX 4080 offre 232 cœurs de tenseur (4e génération) qui permettent la génération d'images DLSS 3 pour les jeux pris en charge. En outre, 58 cœurs de raytracing (4e génération) peuvent être utilisés pour les effets de raytracing dans les jeux pris en charge.
La puce AD103 est fabriquée en 5 nm par TSMC (processus 4N).
