En 2024, sur un modèle vendu près de 1 000 euros… Faute d’être irréprochable, l’iPhone 15 frôle tout de même l’excellence. 100% Test Labo de l’Apple iPhone 15 : l’un des iPhone les plus séduisants jamais conçus

Adoptant un design révisé, avec notamment cette nouvelle encoche Dynamic Island bien pratique, l’iPhone 15 comble l’écart qui le séparait encore des modèles Pro. Grâce à la puce A16 Bionic et au nouvel appareil photo 48 mégapixels, ce modèle est presque plus recommandable que l’iPhone 14 Pro de l’an dernier ! D’autant qu’il jouit, d’après les tests du Labo, d’une excellente autonomie. Une rareté pour un petit smartphone (6,1”). La réception réseau de l’iPhone 15 est sans accroc, son écran est bien défini et reproduit fidèlement les couleurs, et il se montre plus polyvalent que jamais en photo et vidéo grâce à un nouveau zoom numérique 2x qui manquait cruellement à ses prédécesseurs. Un must !

L'iPhone 15 est globalement un très bon smartphone, et par extension un très bon iPhone. En soi, il est un très bon choix pour qui renouvelle son iPhone 12 ou une génération précédente et surtout un bien meilleur choix que l'iPhone 14 encore au catalogue pour 100 euros de moins. Maintenant, il reste quelques points noirs au tableau, comme la présence d'un écran 60 Hz seulement sur cette gamme de prix, limitant au passage ses fonctionnalités (Always On). Sa charge filaire est également un peu faiblarde et sa tendance à chauffer quand on le branche ou lorsqu'on le sollicite un peu trop n'est pas rassurante. Enfin, on notera que l'absence de bouton d'action fait très mesquin de la part d'Apple. Difficile dans ces conditions de conseiller un iPhone 15 plutôt qu'un iPhone 14 Pro, si ce n'est pour l'USB-C et les tranches arrondies. Certes, il n'est plus au catalogue d'Apple, mais encore disponible chez certains revendeurs, et il a encore une belle vie en reconditionné.

90% Test de l’iPhone 15 : en 2023, notre iPhone préféré, c’est le moins cher

Sans être le meilleur iPhone de l’année, ce titre étant réservé à l’iPhone 15 Pro Max, la version classique du millésime 2023 est aussi notre préférée. Pourquoi ? Tout simplement parce que pour 500 euros de moins que la version haut de gamme, la proposition de l’iPhone 15 nous semble être la plus pertinente depuis des années chez Apple. Il n’est pas en titane, il ne dispose pas d’un objectif tétraprismique, d’un écran 120 Hz, ni même du bouton d’action… certes, pour 500 euros de moins, il fait déjà très bien avec un nouveau design inédit, un capteur de 48 Mpx et l’arrivée de l’ilot dynamique au sommet de son écran. En d’autres termes, jamais l’écart entre la version classique et le premium n’a semblé aussi réduit, le tout à prix réduit !

C'est sans grande surprise que l'iPhone 15 apporte satisfaction. Apple produit un smartphone à l'écran parfaitement calibré (mais toujours à 60 Hz), intégré dans un boîtier gagnant en élégance et profitant d'un connecteur USB-C pratique, à défaut d'offrir des débits de transfert ou de la charge rapides. L'appareil n'est certes pas aussi polyvalent qu'un iPhone Pro, mais propose une belle prestation photo. Son autonomie est satisfaisante et son format compact, en l'absence de modèle Mini, en fait une option intéressante pour ceux que les dimensions imposantes des modèles Pro rebutent. Un smartphone aussi convenu que réussi, en somme, qui conviendra surtout à ceux qui souhaitent rester dans l'écosystème de la Pomme et n'ont pas renouvelé leur appareil depuis plusieurs années.

L'iPhone 15 fait mieux que son prédécesseur, et à tous les niveaux ! Doté d'un superbe écran très lumineux (mais toujours 60 Hz), enfin débarrassé de son encoche, il s'impose déjà comme un merveilleux compagnon de route pour les années à venir. Plus polyvalent que jamais en photo, grâce à son nouveau capteur offrant un zoom numérique 2x qui manquait cruellement aux précédents modèles, il fait clairement de l'ombre à l'iPhone 15 Pro. Gardez toutefois en tête que l'autonomie est un vrai caillou dans la godasse de ce modèle, qui nous fait lui préférer l'iPhone 15 Plus cette année. Malgré tout, on apprécie le passage à l'USB-C, même si la norme USB 2.0 est bien trop datée. Reste qu'Apple fait tous les bons choix cette année pour remettre sa gamme « standard » à niveau, là où les modèles Pro avaient tendance à prendre une trop grande avance en termes de design tout comme en termes de performances.

À première vue, la gamme iPhone 15 semble constituer une avancée dans de nombreux domaines. L'A16 Bionic reste l'un des meilleurs processeurs disponibles dans les smartphones phares. L'appareil photo de 48 mégapixels est une amélioration notable par rapport aux modèles précédents. Et surtout, Apple est à la pointe de l'industrie en incorporant davantage de matériaux recyclés dans ses nouveaux produits - bravo à eux ! Cependant, l'appareil semble présenter quelques inconvénients. Bien qu'il ait été conçu pour répondre aux exigences de l'Union européenne en matière de port USB-C standard pour le transfert de données et la recharge, l'iPhone 15 fonctionne toujours à la vitesse de l'USB 2.0. Cela ne représente pas une amélioration fonctionnelle pour l'utilisateur, si ce n'est qu'il n'est désormais plus nécessaire d'utiliser un câble Lightning supplémentaire pour recharger l'appareil.

Speaking of downsides, the default refresh rate support is one that can be counted. Anyways, you get some additional perks on the device such as the Emergency SOS via satellite service for SOS SMS. Both Apple iPhone 15 and 15 Plus have support for super-fast 5G connectivity with gigabit speeds. However, if you prioritize a faster 120Hz refresh rate then the regular iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus won’t cut it out for you. You will need to go for the Pro models. If you are looking for an alternative option you can check the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra which comes with better specs and 4 years of software updates.

For those with older phones from five or so years ago, the iPhone 15 marks a giant leap forward with a fast chip, long battery life, a crisp and bright display and the more useful USB-C port. The trickle-down effect from the iPhone Pro models also adds a bit of interest. The dynamic island from the 14 Pro certainly improves on the older notch design. The 48MP main camera captures more detail and the automatic portrait mode is a bit of a gamechanger. But the same regular iPhone caveats apply from previous years. No extended zoom is disappointing, no always-on display or high refresh rate for the screen is a miss and the body colour options are a bit too washed out and pale. None of these things are deal killers, but are features found on competitors of this price. The iPhone 15 is a good phone. It’s just not as exciting as it should be for the price. For that in an iPhone you need the 15 Pro, or switch and look at Android competitors.

Even though Apple has officially discontinued last year's Pro models, it's still ridiculously priced in India.

To conclude, I think it's important to look at the bigger picture of why this phone exists. This is not Apple's flagship, but the company doesn't really make mid-rangers either. There's never been an iPhone made of cheap materials, lack luster displays or mediocre cameras to meet a certain price point. That's why it's hard to sit here and argue with the $799 price tag, cause anyone price minded can pick from any of the older iPhones or even the SE. I could sit here and draw all the comparisons you want against Android in spec for price, but the reality is a lot of people, especially the younger demographic, doesn't care. It's a free market where anyone can pick what they want, and yet what I see on the streets most is iPhones, regardless of how much better the internals are on a OnePlus 11 for $100 less. Not really sure what it is that Apple does to drive that level of loyalty, but if anything I'd say that's what Android OEMs should copy.

Yes, if you don’t care for the iPhone 15 Pro’s features and don't mind the 60Hz refresh rate. With the gap between the two iPhone lines shrinking, the regular iPhone 15 is now my default recommendation for most people. While the 60Hz display is difficult to look past for me, many people won’t mind it and are possibly upgrading from an iPhone that already has only a 60Hz refresh rate. The iPhone 15 is a good smartphone, making the standard iPhone worth paying attention to again. In summary, Apple suggests that for a better display and the Always-on feature, you'll need to pay $200 more for the Pro version.

This is the first time Apple has used a Quad-Bayer image sensor in non-Pro iPhone models and, like on last year’s iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models, on the iPhone 15 it helped enhance image quality and allowed for seamless 2x tele zooming. This resulted in a significant increase of the zoom score. The camera still lagged behind the Pro models in terms of zoom performance, though, due to the lack of a dedicated tele module and a smaller maximum aperture on the ultra-wide module.

Colors are more vivid than with previous models, but a visible orange cast impacts color rendering for both still photos and HDR10 videos. Frame drops are rare, and motion blur is well managed. Although corners can be hard to touch, and some smoothness is lacking, the device is reactive and accurate when zooming in the gallery and when playing video games. Compared to its predecessor, the iPhone 14, the iPhone 15’s display can reach more than 2000 nits in outdoor conditions, compared to around 1000 nits for the older model. I don’t expect there to be many console-level games on iPhone for at least two to three more years, and even that’s being generous. Therefore, I think early adopting the A17 Pro chip isn’t worth it right now. At the end of the day, there’s a lot to love about the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus. As far as I’m concerned, it’s last year’s iPhone 14 Pro with a nicer body. Even as a photographer, I barely use ProRaw, so living without it hasn’t been an enormous change. On the contrary, Automatic Portrait mode excites me more than ProRAW ever. For years, I’ve leaned towards the Pro iPhones, and this year’s video features are tempting, but now more than ever, I think most people who end up with an iPhone 15 will live the Pro iPhone experience without even knowing it.

At first glance, the iPhone 15 lineup appears to be a step forward in many areas. The A16 Bionic remains one of the top-tier processors available in flagship smartphones. The 48-megapixel camera is a notable upgrade from the previous models. Most commendably, Apple is leading the industry in incorporating more recycled materials into new products—kudos to them! However, the device seems to have some drawbacks. While it was designed to comply with the European Union’s demands for a standard USB-C port for data transfer and charging, the iPhone 15 still operates at USB 2.0 speeds. This doesn’t represent a functional improvement for the user, except that now an extra Lightning cable is not needed to charge the device.

I’ve always felt that the “regular” iPhones have more attractive finishes and it’s true for this year too. The iPhone 15 will come in five finishes and they are: Blue, Pink, Yellow, Green, and Black. My picks would be Blue and Pink because they look the most punchy and vivid. Like the Pro iPhones, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus have contoured edges that make the phone easier and more comfortable to hold. They feel less squared off and less sharp at the edges. In terms of size, they feel about the same. Screen sizes are unchanged so the iPhone 15 still has a 6.1-inch display while the iPhone 15 Plus has a larger 6.7-inch display.

The majority of the design remains the same for these standard models (which isn't a bad thing), but the additional of new colours, a new matte finish which is absolutely delightful and Dynamic Island make for fresh devices and ones that will deliver a different experience too. That's just surface level too. Add to that the upgrade in processor and upgrade in main camera sensor and things get even more interesting. The iPhone 14 wasn't all that exciting when it launched in 2022, but there's already more to be said for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, and that's before we've used them properly in the real world. First impressions suggest that if you don't opt for the iPhone 15 Pro Max this year, the standard iPhone models could definitely be the ones to buy.

If you cannot find a nice deal on the iPhone 14 Pro, however, then the iPhone 15 would still be a good upgrade. This statement is more valid if you own an iPhone 12 or older, but there are also meaningful improvements like the much better main camera and the Dynamic Island (if that is something you care about) that the iPhone 15 has to offer.

Ces cartes devraient être capables de faire tourner tout les jeux d'aujourd'hui, mais la plupart d'entre eux uniquement en détails moyens ou faibles et avec des résolution basses. Les plus vieux jeux ou les jeux moins gourmands restent jouables avec de beaux graphismes.
