Courte critique du PC portable Asus VivoBook S15 S510UQ (i5-7200U, 940MX)

Imparfait. Le nouveau-venu d’Asus pour le multimédia et le bureau séduit, avec son design élégant et son châssis spécialement léger et compact, mais il n’est pas à la hauteur dans le jeu, avec sa GeForce 940MX. Malgré de bons arguments nombreux, nous ne pouvons le recommander, et pas seulement à cause de son autonomie moyenne.

Désolé Asus, mais votre élégant VivoBook S15 S510UQ est dans une certaine mesure un échec. Notre modèle testé ici est vendu presque 1 000 €, et cela ne colle ni avec la solidité relative du châssis, ni avec le clavier tout juste passable. Et que faire du cryptage TPM, d’un capteur d’empreintes digitales, et d’un poids et d’une taille réduits, si la batterie ne tient que 4h ? Comment le traitement d’image peut-il profiter des bons contrastes et des couleurs fidèles, si même l’espace colorimétrique sRGB n’est que très mal couvert ? Pourquoi Asus utilise-t-il une carte graphique qui n’améliore pas grand-chose, au lieu d’une GeForce MX150 bien plus efficace ? Où le Taïwanais a-t-il trouvé ce SSD à la vitesse d’un autre âge ? Les deux ports USB 2.0, le lecteur de carte ultra lent, et la webcam vraiment mauvaise sont-ils à la hauteur du prix ?

A notre avis, Asus est devenu la victime de sa propre stratégie. D’autres modèles de la série débutent à des prix auxquels nous pourrions accepter de telles limitations. Mais nous attendons tout simplement plus à près de 1 000 €. Quiconque cherchant un PC portable compact multimédia de 15 pouces pour les déplacements sera bien mieux servi par exemple par l’Acer Swift 3 SF315, dans l’une des configurations que nous avons récemment testée.
