EN→FRAs with most of my gaming laptop reviews, I tried to swap the Gigabyte G5 into my daily life and place myself into the vibe of a potential user. I used it for both work and play and really got to know the product. I did regular tasks like writing emails, basic web surfing, and some long-form writing. In the evening I played the Sims 4 on it and a little bit of Cyberpunk 2077 too. Most of the general-use testing I did was with the laptop running on battery power, leaving it to charge to full power before using it till it died to get a better sense of what it would be like relying on the battery when carrying it around. Naturally, our benchmarking tests were conducted with the laptop plugged in for maximum performance.

EN→FRThe Gigabyte G5 is a bit of an oddball – a gaming laptop with a now fairly ancient 10th-Generation Intel CPU that, somehow, I feel able to recommend to plenty of folks. Why? Three key factors are big hits: gaming performance, display quality and pricing. Having a slightly older CPU doesn’t matter that much when, at least for gaming, the GPU is going to provide the performance ceiling. The screen is far more punchy than you might expect, offering excellent colour for a laptop of this grade and above-average brightness. Sure, the speakers are rubbish, battery life is poor and the design may be a bit bland for RGB nuts. But the only big problem here is that this juncture you can often find older, categorically superior gaming laptops on sale at just as compelling prices. It’s a function of the Nvidia RTX 3060 having been around for quite a while at this point.

The CPU and RTX 3060 (with 6GB VRAM) are certainly better than most laptops at this price with the 4GB VRAM RTX 3050. It also packs 16GB of RAM out of the box rather than 8GB, and 512GB SSD rather than 256GB storage. The smooth 144Hz IPS display, RGB backlit keyboard, and plenty of connectors onboard are additional features that many gamers will appreciate. Given the RTX 3060 GPU and the current shipment difficulties of hardware, GIGABYTE G5 KC-5US1130SH is an incredible value for its price. The GIGABYTE G5 KC-5US1130SH has what you need in a 15.6" gaming laptop if you want to have the RTX 3060 and 16GB RAM. We also appreciate its additional features like the 144Hz screen and RGB backlit keyboard.
