The 2022 HP Spectre x360 16” follows the 14” model’s redesign with a bigger 16:10 aspect ratio display, a less angular interpretation of HP’s old Gem Cut look and powerful internals for a 16” 2-in-1 convertible Windows laptop. As much as I love our review model's OLED screen, the better x360 16 deal is the LED-equipped $1,700 model with the same CPU, RAM and RTX 3050 GPU. It has a smaller 512GB SSD, but you can always upgrade that down the line. If you're less concerned about gaming performance, the entry-level $1,500 model drops the RTX 3050 for Intel's Xe graphics. As the only big-screen convertible game in town, HP could have easily phoned it in with the Spectre x360 16. Instead, it’s given us a powerful premium notebook that can do some gaming amid a flurry of Zoom calls, and look good while doing it.

HP’s take on a 16-inch laptop continues to shine with a premium form factor and dazzling OLED touch screen that your eyes will ogle at no matter what you’re viewing. Its exemplary webcam, crisp audio, and comfortable keyboard and touchpad are icing on the cake, and its battery life is ample enough to keep you going (nearly) throughout the work day. While being a 2-in-1 laptop is just an added bonus, it doesn’t suit the 16-inch form factor it comes in purely due to its weight. Still, having the capability to use the laptop however you want is welcome, especially since it makes the most out of the stunning display. Clearly, it’s a shame this isn’t the 12th Gen Intel model; it would extend the laptop’s longevity and offer more promising processing power. The good news is there’s a 12th Gen Intel model coming soon, offering the same stunner of a display and specs as the one we reviewed. If 16-inch laptops are your jam, but you’re looking for that extra bit of butter before spending that bread, HP’s Spectre x360 16 (with an inevitably better 12th Gen Intel chip) will satisfy.

If it was the 3D performance that was the selling point, you can get much more for the price. And no one would consider gaming on a 60 Hz screen. The only thing that stands out positively about the Spectre x360 is the large and very nice 4K touch screen, which together with the pen can make the machine a workhorse for graphic artists. But even there, the price/performance ratio is somewhat strained.

As expected, the Core i7-12700H can’t reach peak performance. Despite the use of the “Performance” profile within HP’s command center app, we see scores that are closer to last year’s Core i7-11800H. Nevertheless, this doesn’t make the laptop slow by any means. Instead, it is still exceptionally powerful. The dedicated Intel Arc A370M will surely bring even more graphics performance to the table, but you should be wary of its unrefined drivers. An RTX 3050 would have been a better suit for this device. This machine excels with its fantastic quad-speaker setup tuned by Bang & Olufsen. The keyboard is great too, while the fingerprint reader and the IR face recognition scanner give you double privacy protection. You see, there aren’t many convertibles that offer you such good hardware in a chassis that looks this good. Generally, you won’t go wrong in buying the Spectre x360 16 (16-f1000), but the high price might be offputting for many people.

The question is: does the HP Spectre x360 16 fare any better with its 12th Gen Intel CPU update? Of course it does. While I wish the jump to the next-gen processor would offer even greater performance improvements, it still exceeds what it takes to be a premium 16-inch, 2-in-1 laptop that’s worth considering (especially with a $500 discount). HP’s take on a 16-inch convertible laptop already impressed me with its premium form factor and dazzling OLED touch screen, and now it's taken it a step further by bringing decent performance, too. EN→FRYes, its size is a bit awkward as a handheld tablet and the RTX 4050 upgrade may not bring you the graphics performance you desire, but the HP Spectre x360 16 remains a versatile and well-designed two-in-one. Its audio-visual output is excellent and makes the system a great pick for general home use when you aren't using the giant OLED display for creative endeavors.

Fondée en 1939, la société américaine est un important fabricant de serveurs et d'imprimantes et l'une des principales sociétés informatiques au monde. Jusqu'en 2015, la société s'appelait Hewlett-Packard Company. Après une scission, la division informatique a été renommée HP Inc.
En 2023, HP détenait une part de marché approximative de 22 % des ventes mondiales de PC, ce qui en faisait le numéro 2 après Lenovo.
Ces cartes graphiques de milieu de gamme peuvent faire tourner tout les jeux récents de façon fluide. Les jeux gourmands ne peuvent être joués qu'avec les détails réglés sur moyen.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 4GB Laptop GPU:
Carte graphique pour ordinateur portable de jeu de milieu de gamme basée sur la puce Ampere GA107. Elle offre 2048 shaders et est proposée dans différentes variantes TGP (consommation d'énergie) de 35 à 80 Watt avec des vitesses d'horloge et donc des performances différentes.

Intel Arc 8-Cores: Carte graphique intégrée basée sur l'architecture Xe LPG (similaire aux GPU Arc dédiés, mais axée sur l'efficacité). Fournit les 8 cœurs Xe (128 moteurs vectoriels Xe) et 8 unités de ray tracing.
NVIDIA NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop GPU:
Carte graphique de milieu de gamme pour ordinateurs portables basée sur l'architecture Ada Lovelace. Offre 6 GB GDDR6 (96 Bit) et est configurable avec un TGP de 35 - 115W (+ Dynamic Boost).
Ces cartes devraient être capables de faire tourner tout les jeux d'aujourd'hui, mais la plupart d'entre eux uniquement en détails moyens ou faibles et avec des résolution basses. Les plus vieux jeux ou les jeux moins gourmands restent jouables avec de beaux graphismes.
Intel Iris Xe G7 96EUs:
Carte graphique intégrée dans les SoCs Intel Tiger Lake G4 basés sur la nouvelle architecture Gen. 12 avec 96 EUs (Execution Units / Shader Cluster). La fréquence d'horloge dépend du modèle de processeur. Les puces Tiger Lake sont produites dans le processus moderne 10nm+ chez Intel.

Le SoC quadricœur haut de gamme basé sur Tiger Lake (série H35) est destiné aux ordinateurs portables et aux stations de travail légers et fins. Les quatre cœurs du processeur tournent à une fréquence de base de 2,9 à 3,4 GHz (TDP de 28 à 35 W) et à une fréquence d'accélération pouvant atteindre 5 GHz. Le GPU G7 intégré offre 96 cœurs à 400 - 1400 MHz.
Intel Alder Lake-S:
i7-12700H:
Un processeur mobile basé sur Alder-Lake avec 6 cœurs de performance et 8 cœurs efficaces. Les cœurs de performance offrent un hyper threading, ce qui permet de traiter 20 threads. Le processeur fonctionne à des fréquences allant de 1,7 à 4,7 GHz et prend en charge vPro.
Intel Alder Lake-P:

Un processeur de la famille Alder Lake de milieu de gamme supérieur comprenant 4 cœurs de performance et 8 cœurs efficaces. Intel Intel Meteor Lake-H:
Ultra 7 155H: Une puce Meteor Lake haut de gamme qui a fait ses débuts en décembre 2023. Ce processeur Core Ultra de 1ère génération est venu remplacer les puces Core de 13ème génération ; il dispose de 16 cœurs (6 + 8 + 2) et de 22 threads. Ses cœurs Performance, au nombre de 6, tournent jusqu'à 4,8 GHz tandis que ses cœurs Efficient, au nombre de 10 (8 cœurs principaux plus 2 supplémentaires trouvés dans l'îlot basse consommation) tournent jusqu'à 3,8 GHz. Le NPU AI Boost intégré offre deux moteurs Gen 3 pour l'accélération matérielle des charges de travail d'IA. La consommation d'énergie "minimale assurée" de ce processeur pour ordinateur portable est de 28 W, tandis que sa consommation d'énergie Turbo est censée rester inférieure à 115 W.
