Le Xiaomi 14 offre une excellente prestation dans tous les domaines. Il profite d’un très beau design bien que laissant les empreintes de doigts, d’une connectivité sans faille avec des possibilités de passer d’éléments vers d’autres appareils à proximité et il est étanche, comme son rang l’exige. Ses performances sont vraiment à la hauteur, ce qui en fait l’un des smartphones les plus véloces du moment proposant une expérience sans faille. L’autonomie du téléphone est tout aussi satisfaisante, selon nos tests avec, pour ne rien gâcher une charge qui peut être très rapide ou optimisée, selon les besoins. L’écran est également une réussite, réactif, mais pas trop non plus, avec une très forte luminosité, une belle définition et une excellente fluidité, agréable au quotidien. Si les photos sont de très bonne qualité avec, dans l’application des options intéressantes et créatives, il est dommage que le téléphone ne propose pas mieux que la concurrence.

Le Xiaomi 14 offre une excellente prestation dans tous les domaines. Il profite d’un très beau design bien que laissant les empreintes de doigts, d’une connectivité sans faille avec des possibilités de passer d’éléments vers d’autres appareils à proximité et il est étanche, comme son rang l’exige. Ses performances sont vraiment à la hauteur, ce qui en fait l’un des smartphones les plus véloces du moment proposant une expérience sans faille. L’autonomie du téléphone est tout aussi satisfaisante, selon nos tests avec, pour ne rien gâcher une charge qui peut être très rapide ou optimisée, selon les besoins. L’écran est également une réussite, réactif, mais pas trop non plus, avec une très forte luminosité, une belle définition et une excellente fluidité, agréable au quotidien. Si les photos sont de très bonne qualité avec, dans l’application des options intéressantes et créatives, il est dommage que le téléphone ne propose pas mieux que la concurrence.

Le Xiaomi 14 vaut-il le coup ? Ce smartphone Android haut de gamme ne présente aucun défaut majeur. Il est bien conçu, élégant et sobre, il offre d'excellentes performances (supérieures à celles du Galaxy S24), un écran très lumineux et agréable à utiliser, une interface Android complète et un grand plaisir d'utilisation de sa caméra principale et de son téléobjectif, un peu moins de l'ultra grand-angle. Son autonomie est excellente, tout comme sa charge rapide, parmi les plus puissantes du marché actuellement. Le seul point qui me dérange est la présence de bloatwares, ces applications préinstallées, qui heureusement peuvent être désinstallées, mais je trouve cela inacceptable pour un smartphone vendu à 1000 euros. La politique de mises à jour est moins ambitieuse que celle de Google et Samsung, mais reste très correcte. Le Xiaomi 14 est donc un smartphone que l'on peut recommander sans hésitation.

Impressionnant de performances, ce petit smartphone nous a même soufflés pour sa grande autonomie. Mais il ne faut pas oublier qu'il s'agit là d'un smartphone vendu 1 000 €, et que la concurrence est particulièrement rude cette année. Ne proposant pas encore de fonctionnalités IA et n'offrant « que » 4 mises à jour Android là où ses concurrents directs (les Galaxy S24 ou l'iPhone 15 notamment) vont jusqu'à 7 ans, Xiaomi ne se facilite pas la tâche. Il reste bien sûr ses promesses en photo mais qui, soyons honnêtes, ne nous ont pas tout à fait convaincus à cause de capteurs qui manquent de cohérence. Pour autant, et en se détachant de son prix une seconde, le Xiaomi 14 est un smartphone qu'on a pris énormément de plaisir à tester. En espérant que la marque ne finisse pas par jeter son petit format au rebut comme tant d'autres avant lui !

Je pense que désormais, Xiaomi n'a plus du tout à rougir face à Samsung ni à nourrir un quelconque complexe d'infériorité. Sur le design et l'écran, Xiaomi coche littéralement toutes les cases. Matériaux premium, IP68, Gorilla Glass Victus, technologie LTPO 2.0, bords d'écran extrêmement fins, ... Tout est là. La puissance du Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 permet aussi au Xiaomi 14 de se distinguer de ses concurrents Samsung, cantonnés aux puces Exynos.

The pocketability, one-handedness, and all-day battery life make the Xiaomi 14 a compelling premium Android smartphone out there on the market. Would I advise you to buy the Xiaomi 14 for €999.90? Yes, but there is a caveat. The only "but" I have is how the Samsung Galaxy S24+ can be purchased at a cheaper price on Amazon. Bear in mind that the Galaxy S24+ is the Xiaomi 14's main competitor. What's undeniable is, the Xiaomi 14 is a top-of-the-range smartphone worthy of the flagship status. I don't think Xiaomi has anything to be ashamed of now when it comes to comparisons with Samsung. The inferiority complex is well behind it by now. In terms of the design and display, Xiaomi literally ticks all the right boxes. Premium materials, IP68, Gorilla Glass Victus, LTPO 2.0 technology, extremely thin bezels... they are all there. The power of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC also sets the Xiaomi 14 apart from its Samsung rivals, which are confined to Exynos chips. Fast charging also makes it far ahead of the game. The only shortcoming of the Xiaomi 14 is it doesn't benefit from the same brand image as an iPhone 15 or a Samsung Galaxy S24, or even a Google PIxel 8.

Camera image quality and battery life are my two biggest unknowns right now. I haven’t spent a ton of time with the Xiaomi 14, but I really like the device at this point. That’s largely due to the impressive cameras capable of taking excellent shots, and the great size. It’s not all perfect, though, as Hyper OS takes a bit of getting used to. Xiaomi is also offering four major OS updates and five years of security patches, which is good but not on par with Samsung and Google in 2024. Meanwhile, the £849 (~$1,076) price tag is slightly more expensive than the Galaxy S24, although you are getting more impressive hardware. ​Nevertheless, you should definitely consider the Xiaomi 14 if you want a great camera experience in a more pocket-friendly form factor.

So! Overall, I truly feel like Xiaomi flagships have matured a lot over the years and have become nigh-perfect! I like how Xiaomi has also taken care of small details on the new Hyper OS! It just feels more evolved! But, it’s the cameras that stand out for me! And if you are a proper camera enthusiast, you can even get yourself the Photography kit worth an extra USD 200 — which opens a lot of doors for more creativity! Xiaomi has also done quite a good job with the pricing too! I got this unit from China at just CNY 6,499, which comes at around USD 900. And even in India, it’s priced at INR 1 lakh, which is much more affordable than the two heavy hitters! So, a good job from Xiaomi in that aspect as well! Factoring all that into consideration, I think the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is a top-tier flagship and deserves to be in the conversation with the likes of Samsung and Apple!

A superb combination of top-shelf camera hardware, nuanced image processing, and a photographer-friendly accessory kit puts the Xiaomi 14 Ultra in a class of one. Samsung, Apple and Google still eke out wins in some shooting scenarios, but none are as focused or versatile as this. If you’re serious about snapping with your smartphone, you’ll love what it has to offer. Of course this is a fantastic phone everywhere else: the display is a treat for the eyes, the chipset is uncompromisingly speedy, and battery life is very respectable. But then you’d expect as much from a device costing four figures. Anyone who rarely uses their phone for photography will find all of that elsewhere, and for a lot less cash. If you think in focal lengths and ISO values, though? This should absolutely be your next phone.

If you take the camera away from the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, it’s a perfectly acceptable modern smartphone that matches the overall performance of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, the Google Pixel 8 Pro, the Asus Zenfone 11, and other big, expensive Android phones. We can make the same statement about the processor and software, as it plays games and videos without any issues, and I’ve not had any concerns over smoothness or efficiency. It’s the archetypal flagship smartphone we have all come to expect in 2024. But herein lies the Xiaomi 14 Ultra’s problem. The camera is everything, and without it, the phone is unremarkable. It was almost pointless going through the experience of using the phone itself in detail here because it predictably works very well, just as you’d expect for the level and price of the device.

This is always a tricky question with phone reviews: should you actually buy it? For the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, that would be a resounding yes if it was available worldwide. But as you might have expected, it’s not coming to the US. However, it is available across Asia and Europe. So it’s not one of those China-only type releases, thankfully. Here in the US, it does work on AT&T and T-Mobile, but not entirely. I’ve been using it on Google Fi for the past few weeks, and it’s working pretty well. Not perfectly, but pretty close. So if that’s good enough for you in the US, then yes, you should buy it. For those in Europe, however, pricing might make this less of an absolute must-buy. This is a €1500 smartphone. That translates to about $1,628 USD, which is only about $100 less than a folding phone, which the Xiaomi 14 Ultra doesn’t do.

For example, price was always going to be a deterrent, and Xiaomi's approach to selfies hasn't aligned with our tastes for a while. We could even predict the subpar endurance, going off of the 13 Ultra's results. We could have also anticipated its strong points with a fair degree of certainty. A favorite cameraphone in the office, the 13 Ultra didn't leave a lot to ask for, yet Xiaomi did find a few areas to touch up for the 14. Close-focusing telephotos have become the latest trend, and the two ones here are possibly the finest at that, but also excel at a distance. The variable aperture on the main camera is also welcome if you'd like that much control over DoF, though we don't see that as quite the transformational development.

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra also includes a photography kit that adds a camera handle and dedicated shutter button the setup.

Just like other smartphones that utilizes Sony’s 1-inch type sensor, there is a significant compromise chassis design, weight and dimensions on the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. If you want an impressive camera system like that of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, that will come with a price – not just in pesos but also in grams and millimeters. If you can get past that inconvenience, then you are in for a big treat as the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is all that it promises to be — a very powerful device, impressive display and a camera powerhouse with that unique Leica treatment. Unfortunately, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra will not be officially released here in the Philippines (only the Xiaomi 14 45 has been launched so far). Maybe it’s just too expensive for Xiaomi PH to carry in our market? We can only guess. Nevertheless, it’s one heck of smartphone worthy of the flagship title.

Unfortunately, Xiaomi hasn’t given the press much time with its new flagship phone, so all of the talk about performance is theoretical for now. But the Xiaomi 14 Ultra does look like a proper monster that goes “ultra” in all the right places — and in some less obvious ones. Xiaomi:

Ces cartes devraient être capables de faire tourner tout les jeux d'aujourd'hui, mais la plupart d'entre eux uniquement en détails moyens ou faibles et avec des résolution basses. Les plus vieux jeux ou les jeux moins gourmands restent jouables avec de beaux graphismes.

Qualcomm Adreno 750:

Puce graphique pour smartphones et tablettes intégrée au SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Qualcomm affirme qu'il est 25 % plus rapide que l'Adreno 7340 dans le Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 et les premiers benchmarks montrent que le GPU peut battre l'iGPU Apple A17 Pro.

Qualcomm Snapdragon:

SD 8 Gen 3: SoC haut de gamme pour smartphones présenté fin 2022 avec un noyau principal rapide basé sur une architecture ARM Cortex-X3 cadencée à 3,2 GHz. Deux autres cœurs de performance sont basés sur l'A715 et ne prennent en charge que les applications 64 bits. Les deux autres cœurs A710 prennent également en charge les applications 32 bits, tout comme les cœurs Cortex-A510 à économie d'énergie. En plus des cœurs de processeur, le SoC intègre un modem WiFi 7, un DSP Hexagon (pour l'accélération de l'IA) et un ISP Spectra. Le contrôleur de mémoire intégré prend en charge la mémoire rapide LPDDR5x jusqu'à 4 200 MHz. la 5G est incluse dans la puce avec le modem Snapdragon X70.
