Le Xiaomi 14 offre une excellente prestation dans tous les domaines. Il profite d’un très beau design bien que laissant les empreintes de doigts, d’une connectivité sans faille avec des possibilités de passer d’éléments vers d’autres appareils à proximité et il est étanche, comme son rang l’exige. Ses performances sont vraiment à la hauteur, ce qui en fait l’un des smartphones les plus véloces du moment proposant une expérience sans faille. L’autonomie du téléphone est tout aussi satisfaisante, selon nos tests avec, pour ne rien gâcher une charge qui peut être très rapide ou optimisée, selon les besoins. L’écran est également une réussite, réactif, mais pas trop non plus, avec une très forte luminosité, une belle définition et une excellente fluidité, agréable au quotidien. Si les photos sont de très bonne qualité avec, dans l’application des options intéressantes et créatives, il est dommage que le téléphone ne propose pas mieux que la concurrence.

Le Xiaomi 14 vaut-il le coup ? Ce smartphone Android haut de gamme ne présente aucun défaut majeur. Il est bien conçu, élégant et sobre, il offre d'excellentes performances (supérieures à celles du Galaxy S24), un écran très lumineux et agréable à utiliser, une interface Android complète et un grand plaisir d'utilisation de sa caméra principale et de son téléobjectif, un peu moins de l'ultra grand-angle. Son autonomie est excellente, tout comme sa charge rapide, parmi les plus puissantes du marché actuellement. Le seul point qui me dérange est la présence de bloatwares, ces applications préinstallées, qui heureusement peuvent être désinstallées, mais je trouve cela inacceptable pour un smartphone vendu à 1000 euros. La politique de mises à jour est moins ambitieuse que celle de Google et Samsung, mais reste très correcte. Le Xiaomi 14 est donc un smartphone que l'on peut recommander sans hésitation.

On est ravis de constater que Xiaomi continue de produire des smartphones « compacts ». Surtout quand, comme avec ce Xiaomi 14, le résultat est à la hauteur des attentes ! Impressionnant de performances, ce petit smartphone nous a même soufflés pour sa grande autonomie. Mais il ne faut pas oublier qu'il s'agit là d'un smartphone vendu 1 000 €, et que la concurrence est particulièrement rude cette année. Ne proposant pas encore de fonctionnalités IA et n'offrant « que » 4 mises à jour Android là où ses concurrents directs (les Galaxy S24 ou l'iPhone 15 notamment) vont jusqu'à 7 ans, Xiaomi ne se facilite pas la tâche. Il reste bien sûr ses promesses en photo mais qui, soyons honnêtes, ne nous ont pas tout à fait convaincus à cause de capteurs qui manquent de cohérence. Pour autant, et en se détachant de son prix une seconde, le Xiaomi 14 est un smartphone qu'on a pris énormément de plaisir à tester. En espérant que la marque ne finisse pas par jeter son petit format au rebut comme tant d'autres avant lui !

Pour un prix d’environ 1000 €, le Xiaomi 14 se positionne comme un excellent flagship compact, réussissant dans plusieurs domaines clés. Son écran offre une excellente qualité d’image, ses performances sont remarquables, et l’autonomie de la batterie, associée à une vitesse de charge impressionnante, est un réel avantage. J’ai été particulièrement impressionné par la qualité des deux caméras principales et du téléobjectif, qui capturent des photos exceptionnelles de jour comme de nuit. Bien que la caméra grand angle soit honorable, elle est légèrement en retrait par rapport à celles des autres flagships.

Le Xiaomi 14 est une belle alternative au Galaxy S24. Il partage non seulement un prix similaire, mais aussi un téléobjectif, un format compact. Il dépasse son rival sur les performances grâce à une puce plus performante et sur la charge rapide 90 W qui lui permet, selon nos tests, d'être rechargé en une quarantaine de minutes. Son écran est aussi mieux calibré que celui du Samsung. Pour la photo, le partenariat avec Leica permet au Xiaomi 14 de se targuer d'un petit cachet en photographie qui mise sur une colorimétrie assez chaude et une belle finesse de l'image. À part des modes portraits assez dispensables, il n'y a pas grand-chose à lui reproche en photo. Le Xiaomi 14 lâche un peu du terrain sur le Galaxy S24 sur deux points en particulier.

Xiaomi a-t-il eu raison de ne pas commercialiser son 14 Pro en France et de se contenter d'y vendre son modèle 14 ? Nous répondrons par l'affirmative, le smartphone offrant une expérience très équilibrée. Malgré un format restreint, il jouit d'une bonne autonomie complétée par une charge véloce. Il tient son rang d'appareil haut de gamme grâce à sa puissance, son écran très lumineux et son bloc photo, certes un peu moins bluffant que ne l'était celui du 13 Pro, mais polyvalent. On apprécie enfin son design soigné et la promesse de durabilité apportée par sa certification IP68.

Le Xiaomi 14 est sans aucun doute le smartphone de la maturité pour le constructeur chinois. Il intègre en effet tout ce que l’on attend d’un smartphone premium : un design léché, un magnifique écran, une puissance phénoménale, un système de recharge rapide et, surtout, un excellent appareil photo. Seules son autonomie un peu légère et sa tendance à chauffer viennent ternir ce très bon bilan. Malgré cela, difficile de ne pas recommander le Xiaomi 14. Très équilibré, il n’a rien à envier aux iPhone 15, Galaxy S24 et autre Pixel 8. Un excellent smartphone premium proposé à un prix un poil élevé, surtout pour une marque dont l’image s’est construite sur des tarifs attractifs.

Est-ce que je vous conseille d'acheter le Xiaomi 14 à 999,90 euros? Oui, mais. Le seul "mais" que j'émets, c'est que le Samsung Galaxy S24+ est actuellement trouvable à 980 euros sur Amazon. Et c'est le principal concurrent du Xiaomi 14 selon moi. Ce qui est indéniable, c'est que le Xiaomi 14 est un smartphone haut de gamme digne de ce nom. Je pense que désormais, Xiaomi n'a plus du tout à rougir face à Samsung ni à nourrir un quelconque complexe d'infériorité. Sur le design et l'écran, Xiaomi coche littéralement toutes les cases. Matériaux premium, IP68, Gorilla Glass Victus, technologie LTPO 2.0, bords d'écran extrêmement fins, ... Tout est là. La puissance du Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 permet aussi au Xiaomi 14 de se distinguer de ses concurrents Samsung, cantonnés aux puces Exynos.

Xiaomi a écouté ses utilisateurs et cette version 14 est bien plus complète que la version 13 pour le plus grand bonheur des utilisateurs. Si le design et la philosophie n'a que très peu évolué, le Xiaomi 14 est un smartphone très complet et comblera ceux qui sont à la recherche d'un smartphone à la fois compact et à la fois bon en photo. Ce n'est pas le meilleur photophone mais il sera excellent pour un grand nombre au quotidien. Côté technique, il a tout d'un grand, il est performant même s'il chauffe par moment, il est endurant et propose un superbe écran, le tout dans un écran relativement compact. On reprochera toujours des choix incompréhensibles pour un tel prix comme l'USB-C 2.0 mais ne boudons pas, le plaisir d'utilisation est là et c'est peut-être ça l'essentiel.

Quelles sont nos premières impressions sur le Xiaomi 14 ? La prise en main suscite déjà un certain enthousiaste, même si on réserve une analyse plus approfondie pour un test détaillé. D’emblée, Xiaomi semble avoir mis la barre très haut. En termes de performance, aucun doute, elle est au rendez-vous. Quant à l’autonomie et les capacités de charge, les attentes sont positives. L’écran ? Très prometteur. Et pour ce qui est de la photographie, un test plus poussé s’impose. Premier test du Xiaomi 14: Un flagship toujours aussi complet et prometteur

Pour l'instant, le Xiaomi 14 n'est disponible que chez les importateurs comme TradingShenzhen. Le seul inconvénient par rapport au modèle global attendu au MWC est l'absence de bande 4G. Le premier smartphone Android équipé d'un Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 et d'HyperOS est sinon convaincant sur toute la ligne. Qu'il s'agisse de l'autonomie, des performances ou de la qualité photo, le Xiaomi 14 est prometteur. Il ne reste plus que le prix, TradingShenzhen le facture 677 euros. Je vais me risquer à dire que Xiaomi va opérer une grosse augmentation de prix en Europe. Mais seul le test final, qui remplacera cette première prise en main au MWC 2024 ou peu après, fin février, pourra répondre à cette question.

Both are powerful compact handsets that offer exceptional battery life and strong cameras, with the only differences coming down to personal preference. Would you rather pay less or get more storage? Do you prefer better scratch protection or faster charging? Both need to do better with their software design, so that’s a tie, as well. For me, the Samsung just about tips it, with the Galaxy AI features and an additional three years of OS updates making the Galaxy S24 better value for money overall. If you’d rather the faster charging or the cavernous storage, however, the Xiaomi 14 will not disappoint. It may not have clung onto the best compact flagship crown, but it’s a hell of a runner-up.

I personally love this compact and high performance handset. In lots of ways, it outpaces rivals from the big names. The design is gorgeous in almost every way, I just wish this Jade Green colourway wasn’t a fingerprint magnet. There’s very little to complain about when it comes to hardware here. The display is stunning (and more compact than most), performance is blazingly fast, charging is rapid and the cameras are astounding. The key question here is whether you want to pay more than the likes of the Pixel 8 and Galaxy S24 when HyperOS is a step down and software support, though decent, isn’t as long. I’m seriously tempted (with some user interface tweaking) to use it as my main device, which is about as high as praise gets from a technology journalist.

Having used this phone a lot since it was launched a few weeks ago at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, it’s really growing on us. It’s nice and compact, well designed, offers a colourful, sharp screen and good battery life. Camera performance is really very good too. The problem Xiaomi is facing is that even ‘really very good’ might not be enough to stand out in such a crowded market, with so many competitors really piling on the extras and lots of price cutting going on. Then there is the issue of Xiaomi’s brand recognition in the UK – it’s not a well-known brand at all. Reviewed as a standalone camera phone, however, the Xiaomi 14 is a winner. The only real downsides are the somewhat premium price and occasionally iffy AF tracking. When it comes to the price, we suspect further discounting will take place, either from Xiaomi or network providers. If your budget stretches, and you want a top-notch Android phone that your mate is unlikely to even know about, then go for it.

Overall, I have loved using the Xiaomi 14. It is a very balanced offering from the company that ticks almost all boxes starting with the compact, well-built design, a nice display, good haptics, flagship performance with a stable software experience, and reliable enough cameras. And, if you look at the global launch price, it definitely is a pure value-for-money compact phone. If it launches here at 1 lakh periphery in Nepal, the Xiaomi 14 will get no competition. If you are willing to spend more though, there is the Samsung Galaxy S24 with a slightly better camera optimization. But, I believe Xiaomi is on the right path with this phone! I had a very different opinion on the Xiaomi 14 when I got the unit, and this is usually how the process of product reviews typically goes. The pocketability, one-handedness, and all-day battery life make the Xiaomi 14 a compelling premium Android smartphone out there on the market. I would argue that for anyone who is looking for a high-end smartphone (especially one with a kick-ass camera), there are far more interesting options out there — those with bigger displays, longer battery life, and better cameras. However, that doesn’t change my perception of the Xiaomi 14. I find the device functional and conservative. I should mention that Xiaomi also offers (which surprised me during the launch) a super high-end Xiaomi 14 Ultra (starting at Rs 99,999), which I think is the biggest competitor to the base-line Xiaomi 14 (Rs 69,999).

So when I shot the video version of this review, it was right after it debuted at MWC 2024 but before it arrived on our shores. As such, I couldn’t really put it against its rivals such as the Samsung Galaxy S24—at least, in a Malaysian context. That’s why if you watch our video review of the Xiaomi 14, I ended it by stating that it’s a really good smartphone that will need to be priced below the RM4,099 price tag of the Galaxy S24 if it wants to be competitive against Samsung’s offering. Now in my defence, I had a reason to be wary: the Xiaomi 14 actually costs more than the Galaxy S24 does in Europe. But we don’t live in Europe now do we? In fact, for many Malaysians, the Xiaomi 14 presents itself as an extremely compelling option for anyone seeking a flagship Android smartphone for this year.

Xiaomi’s mainstream flagships have long delivered plentiful performance and clean cameras. That hasn’t changed for 2024. The Xiaomi 14 is a great-looking handset that feels wonderfully snappy in use; the screen is very easy on the eye, and its size continues to set it apart from Apple and Samsung’s equivalent models – without treading on the toes of the top-tier Xiaomi 14 Ultra. It takes wonderfully detailed photos that comfortably keep pace with the best Apple, Google and Samsung have to offer, even if I’m not always a fan of Xiaomi’s colour treatment. Battery life is comfortably better than the Big Three’s most recent models, too. I still have to give the OnePlus 12 top billing as my favourite non-Google/Apple/Samsung smartphone – but if you’re all about smaller handsets that doesn’t compromise quite as much as the competition, consider this a five star score.

The Xiaomi 14 had a mixed display performance in our tests, although it offered a very smooth screen experience in all use cases, with a steady performance in the readability and color attributes. The device’s overall performance, however, did not quite reach that of the predecessor Xiaomi 13, weighed down by the display’s performance in the motion attribute and instability when watching HDR videos. The Xiaomi 14’s screen also lacked uniformity in brightness and color. Although Xiaomi says that the device can reach a peak brightness of 3000 nits, our tests showed the device reaching 2740 nits — but only for HDR video content. Our experts measured 923 nits under 20K lux and only 1490 nits under 100K lux on a classic (20% window) white image pattern. Therefore, the Xiaomi 14 might fall a bit short on readability for intense lighting conditions.

With a score of 135, the Xiaomi 14 delivered fairly average results in the DXOMARK Audio tests. Our testers liked the playback performance through the built-in speakers, thanks to good timbre and dynamics. However, they also noted a lack of low-end, as well as some distortion and clipping when playing back sound at maximum volume. Playback results were overall best when playing games, but almost on the same level for listening to music and watching movies. The Xiaomi did less well in the recording category, with recorded audio clips showing some issues with timbre, as well as dynamics that left some room for improvement. On the plus side, the results for audio zoom and wind noise were good, making the Xiaomi 14 a decent option for isolating specific sound elements from the background and recording in windy conditions. In recording the Xiaomi 14 did best for voice memos. Recordings with the main and selfie cameras were not quite on the same level.

The device received high marks for its texture-noise tradeoff, with images that had a high level of details and low noise in most tested conditions.The texture-noise tradeoff is one of the best we have seen for this price range, outshining its direct competitors. The Xiaomi’s neutral white balance in most situations means that the device is particularly well suited for taking photos of landscapes. However, when taking photos of people outdoors, the images often showed mixed results, with low contrast on faces, and sometimes overexposure of the target.

The 512GB model, meanwhile, is £899, and that’s already made its way to Amazon. I haven’t spent a ton of time with the Xiaomi 14, but I really like the device at this point. That’s largely due to the impressive cameras capable of taking excellent shots, and the great size. It’s not all perfect, though, as Hyper OS takes a bit of getting used to. Xiaomi is also offering four major OS updates and five years of security patches, which is good but not on par with Samsung and Google in 2024. Meanwhile, the £849 (~$1,076) price tag is slightly more expensive than the Galaxy S24, although you are getting more impressive hardware. ​Nevertheless, you should definitely consider the Xiaomi 14 if you want a great camera experience in a more pocket-friendly form factor.

Would I advise you to buy the Xiaomi 14 for €999.90? Yes, but there is a caveat. The only "but" I have is how the Samsung Galaxy S24+ can be purchased at a cheaper price on Amazon. Bear in mind that the Galaxy S24+ is the Xiaomi 14's main competitor. What's undeniable is, the Xiaomi 14 is a top-of-the-range smartphone worthy of the flagship status. I don't think Xiaomi has anything to be ashamed of now when it comes to comparisons with Samsung. The inferiority complex is well behind it by now. In terms of the design and display, Xiaomi literally ticks all the right boxes. Premium materials, IP68, Gorilla Glass Victus, LTPO 2.0 technology, extremely thin bezels... they are all there. The power of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC also sets the Xiaomi 14 apart from its Samsung rivals, which are confined to Exynos chips. Fast charging also makes it far ahead of the game. The only shortcoming of the Xiaomi 14 is it doesn't benefit from the same brand image as an iPhone 15 or a Samsung Galaxy S24, or even a Google PIxel 8.

Here's a squint at the camera tech and other specs ahead of my unboxing and review, expect the Xiaomi 14 Pro to top a lot of best phones lists! You've also got a Titanium option, if you have even more cash. That SD 8 Gen 3 is a beast, boasting some impressive AI smarts including auto video editing tools and slick gaming chops. So you can expect the Xiaomi 14 series phones to serve up some great camera features and blaze through Genshin and other games. Battery life will also hopefully be great, with 120W charging on that Xiaomi 14 Pro. You've got upgraded camera tech, Leica-branded as usual. That main shooter is a 50MP Light Fusion 900 with Summilux lens, with OIS naturally. If you upgrade to the Xiaomi 14 Pro, you’ll even get a variable aperture lens.

Qualcomm Adreno 750:

Puce graphique pour smartphones et tablettes intégrée au SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Qualcomm affirme qu'il est 25 % plus rapide que l'Adreno 7340 dans le Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 et les premiers benchmarks montrent que le GPU peut battre l'iGPU Apple A17 Pro.

Ces cartes devraient être capables de faire tourner tout les jeux d'aujourd'hui, mais la plupart d'entre eux uniquement en détails moyens ou faibles et avec des résolution basses. Les plus vieux jeux ou les jeux moins gourmands restent jouables avec de beaux graphismes.

SD 8 Gen 3: SoC haut de gamme pour smartphones présenté fin 2022 avec un noyau principal rapide basé sur une architecture ARM Cortex-X3 cadencée à 3,2 GHz. Deux autres cœurs de performance sont basés sur l'A715 et ne prennent en charge que les applications 64 bits. Les deux autres cœurs A710 prennent également en charge les applications 32 bits, tout comme les cœurs Cortex-A510 à économie d'énergie. En plus des cœurs de processeur, le SoC intègre un modem WiFi 7, un DSP Hexagon (pour l'accélération de l'IA) et un ISP Spectra. Le contrôleur de mémoire intégré prend en charge la mémoire rapide LPDDR5x jusqu'à 4 200 MHz. la 5G est incluse dans la puce avec le modem Snapdragon X70.
