Par rapport à son prédécesseur, Asus a non seulement augmenté les performances (et les dimensions), mais le Taïwanais a flanqué son dernier-né d'un écran 4K et du G-Sync. Grâce au système de refroidissement externe par eau, le GX800 est probablement l'un des concepts les plus intéressants de ces deux dernières années. Le GX700 était déjà un produit unique qui a avec le GX800 un digne successeur.

Les performances et les caractéristiques ont été au centre de tous les intérêts lors de la conception de la machine. Non seulement le nombre et la capacité des SSD ont été augmentés, mais aussi le nombre de carte graphique embarqué. Suivant le concept du "deux valent mieux qu'un", le GX800 est maintenant équipé de deux cartes graphiques haut de gamme Nvidia. Grâce à l'overclocking, le système obtient un nombre de trames par seconde impressionnant en jeu, encore inédit jusqu'alors. La machine est de plus prête pour la 4K.

Le système SLI a néanmoins une conséquence sur le poids et la consommation d'énergie, qui sont tous deux assez élevés. La dalle UHD comprend la technologie G-Sync et la richesse de la connectique est flatteuse : USB 3.1 de type C, Thunderbolt 3, HDMI 2.0, etc...

Le GX800 aura à faire avec le MSI GT80S (ou plutôt son successeur), qui a son lot de plus et de moins mais qui utilise un concept classique sans refroidissement par eau.

Il va sans dire que le GX800 fera l'objet d'un test approfondi dès que nous aurons le produit final entre les mains.
