Considering it’s substantially slower and lower in resolution than the Air, I was hoping for an Acer-like price tag (in the realm of $900), but that’s not to be. At $1,650, the Series 9 costs $350 more than the similarly equipped Air. I expect Samsung will start slashing prices to something more appropriate as more sub-$1,000 ultrabook competition arrives on the market, but for now this machine’s performance just can’t back up its hefty outlay.

The 13.3-inch Samsung Series 9 is by far one of the thinnest and sexiest Windows notebooks we have seen in a long time, and equipped with the new Sandy Bridge processors, it could very well be one of the most useful ultra-portables we have seen too. Samsung réussit un joli tour de force pour une marque qui est - somme toute - une nouvelle venue sur le secteur du PC. Les progrès sont fulgurants et le Série 9 en est la parfaite illustration. Léger, fin, bien fini, dommage que le duralumin n’ait pas subi un traitement anti-traces de doigts et que le bord du clavier chiclet soit composé de plastique noir brillant, car le reste de la machine est irréprochable. Même le chargeur est correctement travaillé, peu encombrant et discret. Quatre étoiles.

She is an absolute beauty with the brushed metal and super slim profile. On paper, the specs sounded really good too, including Core i5, 8GB of DDR3, and a 256GB SSD.

On the face of it this beautifully designed, slim and feather-light laptop is a business laptop extraordinaire, for Windows devotees. Its design, keyboard and Intel i5-powered performance is awesome, though we’re not sure it’s suited to anyone than the short-hop business traveller. The battery life is simply too short, and at this price, the Micro HDMI to VGA converter cable ought to be bundled. As a piece of technology for the home it’s awesome – the ultrabook era starts here.

So far the omens are looking positive: Better display; slim profile and less weight (particularly when the PSU is included); longer battery time and a feeling of durability. Adequate storage is the current bottleneck. I've already done one upgrade and can't wait for 512GB mSATA SSDs to arrive. And the final good news is that although the NP900X4C is wider than the T420s, its slender profile means that it will slip into the same bags.

The outstanding 13" Series 9 isn't the only ultrabook in Samsung's new range. Despite overall good performance (video games notwithstanding) and high-end finishing, the atrocious quality of the display sets the Series 9 back all the way from five stars on the 13" to three stars on this 15". If you have to choose, we definitely recommend the 13" version with the PLS display.

You've gotta hand it to Samsung, the vendor's taking the Apple chase seriously. All in all, though we'd have preferred more storage and perhaps a higher-resolution screen, this is an excellent offering from Samsung and one of the better put together and more distinctive thin and light notebooks around. Pretty compelling.

Much has changed since the Series 9 emerged a year ago. The competition is much stiffer, and the 1,600 x 900 display now looks average compared to the Full HD display of the Dell XPS 13. But, for only £834, the Series 9 900X3D gets the essentials spot on. With gorgeous looks, great build and superb ergonomics, it’s more than worthy of a Recommended award.

The Samsung Series 9 sits somewhere in the middle — and the model I purchased offers pretty strong performance for the price. It doesn’t provide a no-compromise experience. The battery isn’t replaceable. The RAM and storage aren’t upgradeable. You need dongles to connect an external monitor or Ethernet cable.

Samsung: Le Groupe Samsung est composé de nombreuses entreprises internationales, tous unis sous la marque Samsung en Corée du Sud. Le sens du mot coréen Samsung est "tristar" ou "trois étoiles". La marque Samsung est l'une des plus grandes marques de la Corée du Sud. Samsung est un fabricant de portables, de taille moyenne selon les parts de marché et les revues.
La plupart des jeux pas trop demandants actuels peuvent tourner de façon fluide. soyez prêts à endurer un rendu graphique assez moche à cause de la basse résolution et des détails au minimum. Par ailleurs ces cartes sont suffisantes pour un travail de bureau et le visionnage de vidéos (pas évident pour la vidéo HD).
Intel HD Graphics 3000:
3 GPUs à venir (1er Trimestre 2011) intégrés aux CPU Intel Sandy Bridge (Core ix-2xxx). Les 3000 / 200 correspondent à la puce GT2 avec 12 Execution Units (EUs).
Seuls les vieux jeux peuvent tourner de façon fluide sur ces ordinateurs (S'ils ne sont pas trop gourmands en ressources). Les coeurs à mémoire partagée de cette catégorie ont l'avantage d'être moins chaud et moins gourmand en énergie. Pour le bureau, internet, l'édition de photos, et le montage vidéo ces cartes graphiques n'ont aucune restrictions.
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) HD Graphics:
Ces cartes devraient être capables de faire tourner tout les jeux d'aujourd'hui, mais la plupart d'entre eux uniquement en détails moyens ou faibles et avec des résolution basses. Les plus vieux jeux ou les jeux moins gourmands restent jouables avec de beaux graphismes.
Intel HD Graphics 4000:
Carte graphique intégrée aux processeurs de la génération Ivy Bridge. Possède des fréquences différentes selon les processeurs (du ULV au quad core de bureau) et donc des performances différentes.

2467M: Processeur économique en énergie ULV cadencé entre 1.6 et 2.3 GHz avec Turbo Boost. Possède le GPU intégré HD 3000 cadencé à 350 / 1200 MHz avec un contrôleur mémoire DDR3-1333.
3317U:
Processeur Ivy Bridge Dual Core ULV du second trimestre. Il possède une fréquence de 1.7 - 2.6 GHz et un GPU HD 4000 intégré (350 - 1050 MHz). Le TDP est noté à 17 W.
Intel Core i3:
380UM:
Le Core i3-380UM est un CPU ultra low voltage (basse consommation) sans Turbo Boost ni fonctions AES (comparé aux i5 et i7 UM). Grâce à Hyperthreading, 4 processeur sont virtuellement pris en charge. Ave cle GPU intégré (Intel HD Graphics cadencé à 166-500 MHz) et le contrôleur mémoire DDR3-800 dans le package.
2357M: Processeur économique ULV cadencé à 1.3 GHz sans Turbo Boost. Avec une HD 3000 intégrée cadencée à 350 / 950 MHz avec de la mémoire DDR3-1333.
Intel Core i7:
2637M: Processeur économique en énergie ULV cadencé entre 1.7 et 2.8 GHz avec Turbo Boost. Possède le GPU intégré HD 3000 cadencé à 350 / 1200 MHz avec un contrôleur mémoire DDR3-1333.
3517U:
Puissant processeur basé sur Ivy bridge de type ULV du second trimestre 2012. Il possède une fréquence de 1.9 - 3.0 GHz avec un processeur graphique HD 4000 intégré (350 - 1150 MHz). Le TDP fait 17 W.
13.3: Ce format d'affichage peut s'appeler le mini grand format pour petits portables.
L'avantage est que le subnotebook peut être de petite dimension et peut être porté facilement. de plus Un petit écran a un avantage, il a besoin de peu de courant, ce qui améliore le temps d'exécution de batterie et en conséquence la mobilité. L'inconvénient est que la lecture des textes est épuisante pour les yeux. Les hautes résolutions sont a proscrire.
