La proposition de ce MacBook M3 de 15 pouces n’est pas radicalement nouvelle par rapport à celle de l’an dernier. Le châssis est identique, le clavier et l’écran aussi. Seule la puce s’améliore et même si celle-ci constitue un bon en avant, elle ne ridiculise pas la M2 pour autant. Pour les propriétaires de n’importe quel PC sous Windows, de MacBook M1 et surtout Intel, c’est une invitation évidente au changement, mais celle-ci à un coût et cache quelques pièges (les 8 Go de RAM par défaut notamment) qu’il conviendra d’esquiver. L’arrivée de la puce M3 avait pour avantage de faciliter le débat Macbook Pro ou MacBook Air. Aussi salutaire soit-elle, l’intégration du dernier SoC sur l’ultraportable le plus accessible d’Apple renouvelle et équilibre le fameux duel et ne fait pas l’affaire des plus indécis. Ce MacBook Air en M3 reste selon nous la machine de référence du marché. Que ce soit en 13 ou en 15 pouces, son combo puissance, polyvalence, autonomie est tout simplement au-dessus du lot.

Sans tellement le montrer, le MacBook Air 15 progresse. L’installation à son bord de la nouvelle puce M3 permet à la fois un gain de performances substantiel, mais aussi et surtout un échauffement réduit par rapport au modèle de l’an passé. Apple a également amélioré les vitesses de transfert de son SSD sur la configuration de base, tout en nous permettant désormais de prendre en charge deux écrans externes au lieu d’un seul autrefois. Des petits pas, certes, mais qui vont dans le bon sens et que l’on aurait tort de ne pas apprécier, même si l’on aurait aimé les trouver, l’an passé, directement sur le modèle initial. Globalement, le MacBook Air 15 reste l’un des meilleurs ordinateurs portables de 15 pouces à date. Il combine une excellente qualité d’affichage, de solides performances, une autonomie toujours aussi impressionnante… et le tout dans le plus total des silences.

On connaît la chanson… En 2023, Apple prenait d’assaut le segment qu’il avait négligé jusque-là, celui des ultraportables grand format. En un peu moins d’un an, le MacBook Air 15 pouces semble s'être installé au sommet des ventes de cette tranche du marché avec des arguments solides : un design soigné, une dalle vaste, confortable et bien calibrée, un clavier exceptionnel, plus de puissance qu’il n’en faut pour ce genre de machine et, surtout, une autonomie sans équivalent. Avec ce MacBook Air 15 pouces M3, Apple ne révolutionne rien et ne fait que remettre une pièce dans le juke-box pour que la musique continue. Ceci étant, hormis une connectique légère et la quantité de mémoire vive par défaut un peu basse, difficile de trouver à redire à cette partition.

After having spent the last two weeks with the MacBook Air 15 M3, it's safe to say that this is another excellent laptop from Apple. While I can see a clear performance difference between the M3 Air 15 and my M2-powered daily driver, I would still caution that most M2 owners can likely hold out for an M4 upgrade in the future. If money is no object, then by all means, go ahead, but realistically a couple of seconds shaved off opening an app isn't worth the cost. However, I think this is an easy upgrade recommendation for anyone on an M1 or Intel-based MacBook Air. You are looking at not only a massive performance boost but also stepping into the more modern Air design, which crucially includes MagSafe 3, allowing you to use both Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports while charging.

Both MacBook Airs are made of recycled aluminum and an anodized midnight black finish that does a decent if imperfect job of repelling fingerprints (space black on the MacBook Pro hides the prints a little better).

Apple’s second slash at its larger MacBook Air finds itself in a different environment than the first did during its 2023 launch. The Windows-loyal competition gets increasingly faster at catching up every year, and this year it appears to be nipping at Apple’s heels, thanks largely to Intel Core Ultra. The new 15-inch MacBook Air is still an excellent deal that scales well in price for more multitasking capability or storage space, but key rivals have proved to be competitive on performance and price, namely systems like the MSI Prestige 16 AI Evo. Of course, Apple’s go-to defenses against such comparisons are build quality and reliability, and those hold up here. However, this was a missed opportunity to shore up those defenses with some design tweaks, like an SD card reader or more USB ports, at the very least.

Ces cartes devraient être capables de faire tourner tout les jeux d'aujourd'hui, mais la plupart d'entre eux uniquement en détails moyens ou faibles et avec des résolution basses. Les plus vieux jeux ou les jeux moins gourmands restent jouables avec de beaux graphismes.
