L'Asus ROG Phone 6 Pro est trop cher à mon goût. Je pense qu'une très grande partie du public mainstream va être totalement refroidie par ce prix de 1299 euros. Pour autant, ce n'est pas franchement plus cher que les flagships de Samsung ni d'Apple, voire même de Xiaomi. Et Asus n'a pas non plus augmenté ses prix par rapport à l'an dernier puisque le ROG Phone 5S Pro coûtait déjà autant. Mais ces smartphones haut de gamme "mainstream' sont nettement meilleurs en photo, et c'est un atout de taille. Reste que pour quelqu'un comme moi, qui utilise son smartphone essentiellement pour jouer, le ROG Phone 6 Pro est le Graal. Et je suis persuadé que cette niche d'utilisateurs n'est pas si niche que ça. Je veux pouvoir jouer à tous les jeux du Play Store sans subir le moindre ralentissement et sans devoir jouer avec des graphismes qui piquent les yeux. Et surtout, je veux pouvoir jouer une, deux voire trois heures d'affilée sans que mon smartphone ne se transforme en patate chaude qui me brûle les doigts. Le ROG Phone 6 Pro me permet tout ça.

Et dans ce cas précis, le futur acheteur ne pourra qu’être aux anges avec son design sobre mais toujours orienté gamer. Asus s’est même offert le luxe de proposer un bloc photo digne de ce nom, ce qui permet au ROG Phone 6 Pro d’être encore plus complet. Ajouter +1 à la note si vous êtes gamers et que la photo n'est pas un critère si important.

C’est simple, le ROG Phone 6 Pro excelle dans de nombreux domaines liés au jeu vidéo. Et on prend un vrai plaisir à jouer dessus sur son imposant écran de 6,78 pouces. Nous reviendrons dessus en détail dans le test, mais vous avez d’innombrables options logicielles, une partie audio soignée et un écran qui a obtenu de très bons résultats dans nos tests. De plus, il se mue en manette de jeu et offre des performances sans équivalence aujourd’hui. Bref, en plus d’être prometteur sur le papier, le ROG Phone 6 Pro est précisément puissant. C’est incroyable de voir ce qu’un fabricant peut faire lorsqu’il ne se soucie pas de créer le design le plus fin avec les meilleurs appareils photo, ou s’il est obligé de respecter un prix ultra-compétitif. Asus n’avait pas peur de devenir bizarre ici et cette bizarrerie se manifeste de plusieurs manières, ce qui pourrait en faire un bon choix pour les joueurs à la recherche du téléphone le plus puissant qui existe actuellement. Bref, le test complet ne devrait plus trop tarder.

Le ROG Phone 6 Pro est aujourd'hui le meilleur smartphone gaming, sans l'ombre d'un doute. Ce n'est pas qu'une question de puissance ou d'attribut technique. C'est avant tout une question de cohérence par rapport à l'expérience. Asus promet une expérience digne d'une console. Et elle est là, grâce à la plate-forme technique, certes, mais aussi grâce à tous les accessoires qui sont proposés. Bien sûr, le ROG Phone 6 (et 6 Pro) pâtit de quelques défauts, mais certains sont inhérents à son positionnement. Et l'arrivée de l'IMX766 améliore même la partie photo. Mais le plus gros frein est le prix. Le ROG Phone devient très cher pour un smartphone qui n'est pas excellent partout. Et, même si vous achetez la meilleure configuration, vous n'accéder plus à la meilleure expérience, des accessoires auparavant offerts ayant été retirés.

The phone also has the joint-highest refresh rate of any phone at 165Hz, improving a display that was already excellent. Thanks to the 6000mAh battery, battery life remains a real highlight. Elsewhere, you now get a better main camera on the back than on older models, plus IPX4 water resistance for the first time and some impressive charging features. However, it’s not all good news. The other rear cameras are underwhelming, while a heavy, bulky design won’t please all mobile gamers. Asus still hasn’t included a built-in fan either, so the phone can run hot unless you connect an external version that’s sold separately. None of these should be dealbreakers on a gaming phone, but they become more significant when you’re paying a lot.

There is no better gaming phone available today. And that leads us to price. Starting at €999 for a base ROG Phone 6 and €1299 for the ROG Phone 6 Pro, we are looking at a device that rubs shoulders with the best of them. Luckily, beyond its gaming prowess, the ROG Phone 6 Pro is also a very well-rounded device with one of the best displays and audio setups around and a truly amazing battery life. In that sense, maybe it can even compete with the Galaxy S22's and iPhone 13's of the world. Whether or not that's a fair competition in your view is an entirely personal stance. As it currently stands, the ROG Phone 6 Pro gets two thumbs up from us, and we'll leave it at that.

I think if you’re looking for a gaming phone, then I would highly recommend considering the ROG Phone 6 series. Plus, the phone finally comes with at least some official water resistance. ASUS knocked it out of the park again, and I’m not surprised.

Puce graphique pour smartphones et tablettes intégrée au SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Qualcomm affirme qu'elle est 30 % plus rapide que l'Adreno 660 du SoC Snapdragon 888. Pour Android, elle devrait être l'une des cartes graphiques les plus rapides fin 2021.

Ces cartes devraient être capables de faire tourner tout les jeux d'aujourd'hui, mais la plupart d'entre eux uniquement en détails moyens ou faibles et avec des résolution basses. Les plus vieux jeux ou les jeux moins gourmands restent jouables avec de beaux graphismes.

SD 8+ Gen 1:

SoC haut de gamme pour smartphones, introduit fin 2021 et fabriqué en 4 nm chez TSMC. Il intègre un "Prime Core" basé sur une architecture ARM Cortex-X2 cadencée jusqu'à 3,2 GHz. Trois autres cœurs de performance sont basés sur l'A710 mais cadencés jusqu'à 2,5 GHz. En outre, quatre cœurs d'économie d'énergie sont intégrés, basés sur l'architecture ARM Cortex-A510 et cadencés jusqu'à 1,8 GHz. En plus des cœurs de processeur, le SoC intègre un modem WiFi 6e, un DSP Hexagon (pour l'accélération de l'IA) et un ISP Spectra.
