Scintillement / MLI (Modulation de largeur d'impulsion)

Afin d'abaisser la luminosité de l'écran, certains ordinateurs portables font varier très rapidement le rétroéclairage entre éteint et allumé. La fréquence à laquelle le rétroéclairage s'éteint et se rallume est normalement fixée à une valeur qui permet de rendre la variation indétectable à l'œil nu? Si la fréquence est trop basse, certaines personnes peuvent être sujettes à une fatigue oculaire, des maux de tête ou même percevoir les variations.
Scintillement / MLI (Modulation de largeur d'impulsion) décelé 250 Hz ≤ 99 Niveau de luminosité

Le rétroéclairage de l'écran scintille à la fréquence de 250 Hz (certainement du fait de l'utilisation d'une MDI - Modulation de largeur d'impulsion) à un niveau de luminosité inférieur ou égal à 99 % . Aucun scintillement ne devrait être perceptible au-dessus de cette valeur.

La fréquence de rafraîchissement de 250 Hz est relativement faible, les personnes les plus sensibles devraient percevoir un scintillement et être sujettes à une fatigue oculaire accrue (avec le niveau de luminosité indiqué)

En comparaison, 51 % des appareils testés n'emploient pas MDI pour assombrir leur écran. Nous avons relevé une moyenne à 9654 (minimum : 43 - maximum : 142900) Hz dans le cas où une MDI était active.

Temps de réponse de l'écran

Le temps de réponse d'un écran mesure la rapidité à laquelle l'écran est capable de changer une couleur pour une autre. Un temps de réponse élevé se traduit par une image floutée pour les objets en mouvement. Les joueurs bénéficieront de faibles latences d'affichage en jeu.

Le LG V40 s’améliore par rapport au V30, et intègre certaines des bonnes fonctionnalités du G7 ThinQ, tout en proposant un meilleur appareil photo et de meilleures performances.

Cependant les capteurs photo, malgré leur taille, ne parviennent pas à atteindre le niveau des meilleures propositions du marché. La batterie est trop juste pour les besoins de l’écran haute résolution, du DAC et du SoC. Les trois haut-parleurs ne sont également pas aussi bons qu’il faudrait, ce qui est décevant.

Le LG V40 ThinQ va sans doute être rapidement oublié, avec l’arrivée des fleurons 2019, ce qui est vraiment dommage parce qu’il s’agit d’un excellent smartphone, pas loin de la perfection dans de nombreux domaines.

Mais ce sont là les seuls vrais défauts du V40. Il possède la caméra vidéo la plus polyvalente du marché, et son design est sous-évalué mais premium. Le DAC Quad Hi-Fi et les codecs Bluetooth haute résolution font leur retour et devraient permettre au V40 de délivrer d’excellentes performances audio, que ce soit avec ou sans fil.

Un gros défaut du V40 est son positionnement tarifaire. Le LG G8 ThinQ va être lancé dans les jours à venir, et il surpassera le V40 dans de nombreux domaines, si bien que le lancement et l’arrivée de celui-ci paraît étrange. Nous nous attendons qu’il baisse de prix dans quelques mois, comme le V30 l’avait fait, ce qui pourrait faire de lui une bombe à retardement pour 2019.
