At Rs 1,24,999, the Google Pixel 10 Pro XL isn’t built for gaming or raw performance needs. Instead, it aims to deliver a well-rounded experience and is more than capable of handling just about everything else. While the battery life and charging time may occasionally feel a bit underwhelming, every other aspect of the phone—its design, software, speakers, haptics, display, and cameras—lives up to flagship standards.

For the cheapest variant of the biggest member of the Pixel 10 line, the Pixel 10 Pro XL with 256GB will set you back for RM5,999 – which is honestly not a good deal when phones like the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, with the same storage configuration, can be had for nearly a thousand ringgit less (and you get an S Pen on top of that). If you already own the Pixel 9 from last year, this isn’t that big of an improvement to warrant the device upgrade, so keep what you have for another generation at least.

OK, so what are the big upgrades here? A notably more powerful processor, and a truly impressive 100x zoom. A couple of exclusive AI features, too. At the end of the day, the Pixel 10 Pro XL is not that much different than the Pixel 9 Pro XL. And, if the latter gets the most features of Android 16 — you may be able to get away with purchasing (or keeping) the older model! That said, the Jade Pixel 10 Pro XL looks lovely... The Pixel 10 Pro XL is definitely a solid phone. And while the Tensor G5 still hasn't caught up with the likes of Apple's A-series chips, or Qualcomm's excellent Snapdragons, there's definitely a noticeable improvement here. If you simply want the best and most advanced from Google — that'll be the Pixel 10 Pro XL for you.

The question then becomes – should you buy the Google Pixel 10 Pro XL? I think it depnds on you. Again, anyone looking to get this phone is not a heavy mobile gamer – and it’s going to be the perfect phone for you. The way Google made this phone is to make it so simple to the point that even a toddler can shoot some beautiful pics with it since it’s just a point and click camera. The battery life is actually on par with the others in the market right now, and it also has Google’s best features built-in. At the price of RM5,999 though – it’s still an amazing phone despite the high price tag.

Some might call it boring, owed to its limited upgrades this generation. But I think that's to look at this brilliant phone too negatively. It's got star power, representing the best of what Android can offer right now. There's ample power, decent battery life, the now-established design continues to impress, as does the quality and completeness of the cameras offering. As checklists go, Google's got big ticks in all the important ones. I'd take it over an iPhone any day of the week. Overall, the Pixel 10 Pro XL is a stunner, showing Google's continuing rise up the ranks. I don't foresee this handset willingly leaving my pocket for some time to come, as it's just that good – and will only get better with Google's 7 years of security, software and feature drops in the future.

The Google Pixel 10 Pro XL (and the rest of the Pixel 10 series) represents the company's most intense focus on artificial intelligence features in any device yet. But if you're not excited about AI, don't worry, Google Pixel 10 (and the Pro models) are worth a look even if you deactivate and disable every bit of AI, top to bottom. While Google's promotion of these devices will inevitably focus on AI — that's hype, at the moment — really, the whole Pixel 10 series has excellent-enough hardware and software to match the devices' prices. In the photos in this review, you'll see that the Google Pixel 10 Pro XL and its two smaller relatives look a lot like one another. Set in a row, you'll see a difference in luster between the Pro and non-Pro, and you'll see a significant difference in the size of the display in the XL device. But they're all Google Pixel 10 devices — and they all offer the same sort of guarantee when it comes to longevity in both software* and hardware.

This year’s Pro XL Pixel doesn’t stray far from the formula set out by the last one – but still manages to improve on it in all the right places. Android 16 feels modern without alienating fans of the old look, Qi2 magnetic charging is a welcome (if overdue) addition that’ll tempt iPhone owners thinking of making the switch, and the Gemini upgrades are genuinely useful. Even AI skeptics will have to admit Camera Coach is an excellent showcase of the tech, and really puts the phone’s rear lens trio to good use. I do think Google’s algorithm-led photography lacks some of the emotive charm rival phones are able to capture in-camera now, but not everyone likes the analogue film look.

The Google Pixel 10 Pro XL provides advanced AI tools wrapped up in appealing hardware. The phone's AI-assisted photography remains a huge selling point, but Voice Translate and Pixel Studio demonstrate the power of the Pixel 10's Tensor G5-powered AI tools. Although we wish it weren't so heavy and the battery lasted a bit longer, the Pixel 10 Pro XL is a finely crafted, high-quality phone that delivers Google's latest AI smarts in a compelling package. Ultimately, the smaller and cheaper Pixel 10 Pro is our Editors' Choice phone for most people, thanks to its stronger value, and the Galaxy S25 Ultra remains our pick for full-size flagship phones.

With the Pixel 10 series, Google has, in some ways, brought the standard model closer to the level of the Pros than we’ve ever seen before. But in other ways, there are still quite a lot of differences between the Google Pixel 10 and its Pro-level siblings, and even between the Pixel 10 Pro and the Pixel 10 Pro XL. Below, you’ll find a rundown of the key ways in which these phones differ from one another.

Google is taking aim at Apple with the new Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL, with the new Pixelsnap feature that mimics MagSafe perfectly, and the promise of AI features that Apple has so far failed to deliver. It’s a big bet on software, but Google’s Pixel design was already a step ahead, and the Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL improve on last year’s great look. Our full review is coming, but my hands-on first impression will give you a good idea of how the Pixel has evolved.

I’m eager to put these phones through more testing to see how well they perform, but what I’ve been able to check out first hand convinces me that Google’s pulling ahead of the pack. The company has already established itself for having the best AI phones around, and the Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL keeps on widening that gap. Samsung has done well to keep up with its Galaxy AI features, but I think it puts Apple Intelligence on notice because of the amount of new AI features present here with these Pixel 10 Pro devices. They add on to the existing set that Google has delivered, like Call Screen, Pixel Studio, Magic Editor, and much more. Hopefully other aspects of these phones are improved, namely the performance of the Tensor G5 and their battery life. One thing's certain: they make other phones look dumb.

In predictable Google style, it sticks with the same design philosophy as last year’s hardware shift, opting to focus more on the software side. Some appear very well-intentioned, like Camera Coach, whereas others, like Super Res Zoom, need proper testing to gauge output. The Pixel 10 starts at $799, while the Pixel 10 Pro is $999, and the Pixel 10 Pro XL is $1,199. All of these models will be available on August 27. The Pixel 10 Fold Pro will start at $1,799 and be available on October 8.
