Lisa Gade reviews the Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5, an affordable 14” Windows 2-in-1 convertible laptop with 360 degree hinges, a full HD IPS touch screen and Wacom AES active pen support. The Lenovo has an Intel 10th gen Core i5 CPU with UHD graphics, 16GB DDR4 RAM and a 512GB M.2 NVMe SSD for $650. It has good build quality, a fingerprint scanner, webcam with privacy shutter, MS Precision trackpad and a backlit keyboard. Not bad for the price!

Lenovo Ideapad Flex 5 (14) review – the optional GeForce MX330 has its perks and drawbacks

So, the Intel version of this laptop is having a lot of struggles. The most prominent one comes from the cooling solution – especially when you have the GeForce MX330 onboard. During gaming (and with the “Extreme performance” profile applied) we saw the temperatures to not only creep up but maintain at 93C on the GPU and 97C on the processor. And if you choose the more forgiving “Intelligent cooling” profile, you end up losing performance. By the way, introducing a cooling pad drastically improves the thermals of the notebooks, as it appears that the design of the device is not optimized for airflow. So, at the end of the day, it might just be a better choice to pick the Intel Core i7-1065G7 only with its integrated graphics. Or just go for the AMD options, as they will provide a lot more headroom for productivity.

NVIDIA GeForce MX330:
Successeur du MX230 et très probablement d'un GeForce MX250/MX150 renommé basé sur la puce Pascal GP108 avec 384 shaders et un bus mémoire 64 bits pour la GDDR5.
Ces cartes devraient être capables de faire tourner tout les jeux d'aujourd'hui, mais la plupart d'entre eux uniquement en détails moyens ou faibles et avec des résolution basses. Les plus vieux jeux ou les jeux moins gourmands restent jouables avec de beaux graphismes.
