Box, in which ASUS N10J came, had another surprise for us: external optical device. It is simply designed as squarish black colored DVD external writer. This is first device, in this class, that is shipped with optical device as standard accessory and with it ASUS N10J can be characterized as very versatile and unique product.

As you can see, there’s not a lot to separate the N10J from the Wind. As far as we can tell, there are only four advantages that the N10J has; a bigger hard drive, faster wireless, NVIDIA graphics and Vista. And we’re not really convinced that having Vista is actually an advantage, given the humble hardware it’s running on. As far as we’re concerned, the only noteworthy difference is the inclusion of the NVIDIA hardware, which is barely able to run anything released in the last decade. We’re sure you’ll agree that this $30 NVIDIA chip doesn’t warrant a $400 higher price tag.

It may look like your standard Netbook, but the Asus N10J is unique because underneath it features discrete, switchable graphics. You'll pay a bit more for the privilege, but the end result works for gaming on the go, as long as you don't mind dialing down your game settings.

The ASUS N10 is being billed by ASUS as the first "corporate netbook". Overall, the N10 seems to fit the description well. If your company was looking for a netbook for corporate use, it would likely choose the N10 above the rest simply due to the comprehensive warranty and security features alone. While biometric fingerprint readers aren't exactly the defining feature they once were since they have become standard equipment on business notebooks, they are still a unique feature for a netbook, as is the N10's excellent warranty. The ASUS N10 also has two more defining features that help to distinguish it from the rest of the clone-like netbook market. The N10 is the first and only netbook to sport discrete graphics, in the form of NVIDIA's GeForce 9300M.

If all you need is e-mail and Web access on the go, one of the less-expensive netbooks on the market should suffice. But if you want all the portability and some of the graphics power of an ultraportable notebook without the $2,000 price tag, Asus’s N10Jc is the way to go.

The ASUS N10, while performing quite well in our testing in overall performance, didn’t see much gain in day-to-day use from the dedicated graphics. While the addition nets you an HDMI port, it doesn’t help with decoding HD movies or help with many games since the Intel Atom processor doesn’t have enough power to handle those activities. While you do get a classier looking design with a much nicer paint scheme and slightly slimmer look, you pay a price premium over the Eee PC 1000. With a price tag nearly 50 percent greater than other netbook models, even more when compared to new HP and Dell offerings, it seems ASUS might have priced themselves out of the consumer market with the N10.

ASUS pioneered the mini-notebook category with its Eee PC, and the N10Jc may just do the same for a new class of netbooks aimed at business users who demand more performance and security features—and who don’t have the budget for traditional ultraportables that start at $1,100. Those looking for a slimmer and sexier netbook will opt for the $699 Eee PC S101 or even the $549 HP Mini 1000, and the $499 Samsung NC10 offers much longer battery life. But the $649 N10Jc wraps solid performance, graphics, and endurance in an attractive package.

So, has Asus managed to steal the thunder away from its own Eee PC brand? There is no denying the Asus N10J is an interesting machine, it's powerful and comes with a decent battery life. However, for the price it just doesn't live up to expectations and it's hard to see who its target audience will be. For style and portability, business users will gravitate to the Eee PC S101, while power users will prefer Sony's ultraslim notebooks.

NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS: Comparé à la 9300M G, la GS n’as que 8 unified shaders mais elle est plus rapide. Donc les perfroamnces devraient être similaires selon Nvidia. Elle supporte le Hybrid-SLI (GeForceBoost et HybridPower) avec la Nvidia 9100M G et la PureVideo HD (VP3).
Ces cartes devraient être capables de faire tourner tout les jeux d'aujourd'hui, mais la plupart d'entre eux uniquement en détails moyens ou faibles et avec des résolution basses. Les plus vieux jeux ou les jeux moins gourmands restent jouables avec de beaux graphismes.

Asus: Asus est un fabricant international de taille moyenne. Dans les pays allemands et d'expression anglaise de nos jours beaucoup de portables d'Asustec sont passés en revue. Néanmoins plutôt peu de modèles d'ordinateur portable réalisent des bonnes positions selon le rang et le rapport qualité/prix totale.
