In terms of direct competition, there is only one laptop that butts heads with the HP EliteBook 2560p, and that’s Lenovo’s ThinkPad X220. The EliteBook wins on price only if you take a gander at the manufacturer websites alone. On Amazon and at other online retailers, it appears that the base X220 with a Core i5 processor can be had for around $100 less than the base 2560p.

HP once again delivers an impressive business notebook that would be a great addition to any road warrior's arsenal. The $1,199 HP EliteBook 2560p combines attractive looks and durability along with strong performance and extended battery life. The suite of security tools is helpful and easy to use. If an optical drive isn't essential, we recommend the Lenovo ThinkPad X220, which, for $971, gets you the same specs as the Elitebook, as well as a nine-cell battery that lasts longer on a charge. Overall, though, the 2560p is a great choice.

There's a lot to be said about an ultraportable that crams in the gamut of essential business features, while performing at a very high level. The HP Elitebook 2560p is the only 12-inch ultraportable left that comes with a built-in optical drive and loads a powerful Core i5 processor. Its battery scores and typing experience didn't quite measure up to the Lenovo ThinkPad X220, but it's a solid business ultraportable nonetheless and worth its weight (or what little there is) on the road.

All up, this is a good effort by HP that should appeal to users who want something small with good performance. It does feel a little too heavy for its size, but it's solidly built and fairly comfortable to use and it has lots of features. That said, we think it should come with an SSD and integrated 3G as standard, and it could also use USB 3.0.

The nice thing about top-of-line notebooks is that they usually leave you wanting for little—or nothing. HP's new ultraportable EliteBook 2560p, which replaces last year's 2540p, is no exception. HP offers up strong performance with all the productivity and security features business users need, but the lack of USB 3.0 support and the short battery life should give you pause.

Intel HD Graphics 3000:

3 GPUs à venir (1er Trimestre 2011) intégrés aux CPU Intel Sandy Bridge (Core ix-2xxx). Les 3000 / 200 correspondent à la puce GT2 avec 12 Execution Units (EUs).

La plupart des jeux pas trop demandants actuels peuvent tourner de façon fluide. soyez prêts à endurer un rendu graphique assez moche à cause de la basse résolution et des détails au minimum. Par ailleurs ces cartes sont suffisantes pour un travail de bureau et le visionnage de vidéos (pas évident pour la vidéo HD).
