It’s too bad I only got to spend a week with this laptop, but it was still enough to get a good understanding of what Dell has to offer in their newest model. In short, it’s not half bad really. The important thing to ask yourself is whether you want anything more than just a gaming laptop. What I’m getting at is while it’s an excellent laptop for gaming, the battery life and overall heft make it a hard sell for using it for something other than gaming, such as work or causal multimedia use. The webcam and speakers don’t help the situation either. And let’s not forget how warm it gets from just watching Netflix. I’ll give Dell some credit, though – this is a very well-built laptop with some powerful hardware inside. It certainly lives up to the Alienware name and I’m happy they didn’t skip on the power delivery that they put into the CPU and GPU to make it perform at its peak potential. The trouble I have in recommending this machine stems from what the competition is offering. The Asus ROG Scar 16 that Andrei just reviewed is both smaller and lighter and actually seems to perform better in the benchmarks he ran. And then let’s compare the Alienware to the Razer Blade 16 I just recently reviewed, which is also much smaller and lighter. These two laptops performed almost identically too, so it makes little sense why you would gravitate to this over those options. But the cost is a major factor and $2600 is very reasonable for these specs, so perhaps this laptop will find a home with those willing to save a few hundred dollars over the other options. Personally, I would spend the money and choose something that is more than just a gaming laptop, though. But that’s just me. Anyways, as always, I hope you found this article informative. Alienware livre un bon PC de jeu avec le M16. Disposant d’un design fort, d’une puissance confortable et d’un écran bien calibré, il est parfait pour ceux qui cherchent un ordi efficace pour jouer à tous les gros blockbusters du moment. On lui reprochera cependant quelques erreurs grossières d’ergonomie qui pourraient s’avérer rédhibitoires pour certains. Un PC gamer très correct, donc, mais qui manque de maîtrise.

Yet it’s hard to shake the feeling that Dell has delivered a respectable product that is massively helped by Nvidia’s AI learning techniques that ultimately make this a compelling laptop for its price point. Pour un peu plus de 2 500 € en prix officiel, l’Alienware m16 s’avère être un digne successeur de l’ancien modèle m15. Il parvient même à être plus ambitieux et à offrir une expérience globale convaincante en corrigeant plusieurs défauts de son prédécesseur. Si Alienware pèche sur l’affichage en nous limitant à une dalle IPS pas assez lumineuse (offrant par ailleurs un contraste honnête sans plus), et que l’appareil souffre d’une autonomie proprement médiocre, nous ne pouvons pas nous plaindre sur grand-chose d’autre. Ce modèle m16 dispose en effet d’une belle qualité de construction, de solides performances, d’un clavier convaincant et d’un système de dissipation efficace. Il remplit donc, d’après nous, l’essentiel de son contrat.

That’s why it often makes sense to spend more money on a decent gaming laptop such as the Alienware M16, which will keep up with games for a few years at least. It feels odd to call a laptop as pricey as this good value for money. Still, it is. The combination of an AMD Ryzen 9 7845HX (but not the more expensive 7945HX) and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 GPU (not the more expensive 4090), provides excellent performance without the cutting-edge price. So, if you can afford it, the Alienware M16 is a great pick for a gaming laptop that can play as hard as you do and should keep doing so for the next few years. Just don’t forget to take the power supply with you because the battery life is not the one.

L’Alienware M16 R1 se positionne comme l’un des meilleurs laptops de gaming actuellement disponibles sur le marché. Cette machine exceptionnelle, dotée d’une puissance impressionnante, est capable de gérer sans difficulté presque tous les titres modernes. Cependant, un point faible notable réside dans son système de refroidissement, dont l’efficacité laisse à désirer. Le système de refroidissement actuel, bien qu’ambitieux, se révèle être excessivement bruyant. Dès le lancement d’un jeu, le bruit généré peut donner l’impression que l’ordinateur est sur le point de décoller. Comparativement, le système de refroidissement par chambre à vapeur de l’Alienware M16 R1 n’est pas aussi efficace que la solution de refroidissement à eau que l’on trouve dans des modèles concurrents, comme le Legion 9i. Il peine souvent à maintenir les températures de fonctionnement dans des limites acceptables.

L’Alienware M16 livre des performances dignes des composants qu’il embarque, tandis que son système de refroidissement fait des merveilles, se montrant efficace et discret lorsqu’on lui demande. Hélas, cela se fera au détriment des mains, car l’air chaud est extrait sur les côtés. Bien que réactif, l’écran est peu lumineux et contrasté. Le principal point noir reste une autonomie famélique, digne des PC portables d’il y a 10 ans.

The m16 is a bit of a mixed bag. It’s a stylish, well-made laptop and, as reviewed, you can’t argue with the value for money. It also has excellent performance characteristics and you get a fantastic range of options at the point of purchase. The display is good, as is the speaker system, and there’s a great selection of I/O ports – I especially like to see a dedicated DisplayPort video-out on my gaming laptops. However, in the negative column, the chiclet keyboard is pretty basic for a gaming laptop, with none of the stylistic refinements you see on cheaper Asus TUF or Acer Predator laptops, and the arrangement of the ports seems almost perverse. It’s also heavy and the battery life is poor. If your gaming laptop will spend most of its time sitting on your desk, plugged in and hooked up to a separate keyboard and mouse, then the Alienware m16’s drawbacks become much less of an issue. But if you want something for use out and about, there are better options.

There are certain qualities gaming laptops possess that take them above just a ‘gaming device’, and the Alienware M16 holds all the qualities of a premium entertainment laptop. It boasts a unique design that holds up to the ‘intergalactic’ aesthetic a lot of Alienware products strive for, with hexangle speakers on the chassis, a satisfying keyboard and a quirky alien LED power button. It’s an incredibly elegant machine that handles intense gaming without stress, though its major failing is its monstrous weight and thick, chunky build.

The key question here is, is the Alienware M16 R1 a better buy than the Medion Erazer Major X20? The Medion is a few hundred cheaper when you add its standard mechanical keyboard to the Alienware options list, it has a numeric keypad, and it’s lighter. The Alienware machine has a slight edge in performance, though, and it looks much more stylish, so that’s a tough question to answer. If it were my money, I’d probably go for the Alienware because I’m a bit of a badge snob, and my gaming laptop seldom leaves my desk, so the M16’s 3.25Kg weight isn’t something that worries me. Of course, what really separates the Alienware M16 from broadly comparable laptops like the Asus ROG Strix Scar 16 is the unrivalled list of options you can choose from. Short of building your own PC, you just don’t see that kind of choice in other places. And if there’s another gaming laptop out there that can take 4 SSDs, I’ve yet to hear about it. Alienware:

Alienware a été fondée aux États-Unis en 1996. Le siège européen est situé en Irlande. Alienware fait partie du groupe Dell depuis 2006. La gamme de produits se concentre principalement sur les ordinateurs portables et les ordinateurs de bureau de jeu, qui sont développés et fabriqués par Dell. La marque est un design légèrement futuriste avec un Alien comme logo. De plus, des postes de travail pour les clients privés et professionnels sont vendus.

Comme pour toutes les marques, il y a aussi quelques points de critique avec Alienware. Certains clients se sont plaints des prix élevés des produits, tandis que d'autres ont critiqué la qualité des services à la clientèle. Des problèmes de fiabilité et de durabilité de certains produits Alienware ont également été signalés. Cependant, de nombreux clients ont également eu des expériences positives avec la marque et apprécient les puissants ordinateurs de jeu.

Ces cartes graphiques devraient être capables de faire tourner tout les jeux récents (avec quelques exceptions) en haute résolution avec un bon niveau de détail.

Intel Raptor Lake-HX:

i9-13900HX: Sur la base de l'architecture Raptor-Lake, un processeur hybride mobile haut de gamme à 24 grains et 32 threads. Basé sur la puce Raptor-Lake-S 13900K.

i7-13700HX: CPU mobile basé sur la série Raptor Lake qui offre 16 cœurs (8 cœurs de performance, 8 cœurs d'efficacité). Similaire au Core i7-13700K de bureau, mais avec des vitesses d'horloge réduites.

AMD Dragon Range (Zen 4, Ryzen 7045):

R9 7845HX: Processeur mobile haut de gamme à 12 cœurs basé sur l'architecture Zen 4. Les cœurs du processeur cadencent jusqu'à 5,2 GHz et exécutent 24 threads simultanément. Le TDP est configurable entre 45 et 75 Watt.
