Un portable de jeu efficace ! Acer a prouvé plusieurs fois avec sa série Nitro 5 que les portables de jeu n’ont pas toujours à être extrêmement chers. La firme propose un nouveau modèle de 17,3 pouces qu’il équipe avec un Intel Core i7-9750H et une Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, qui devraient se combiner pour proposer une base solide. Scintillement / MLI (Modulation de largeur d'impulsion)

Afin d'abaisser la luminosité de l'écran, certains ordinateurs portables font varier très rapidement le rétroéclairage entre éteint et allumé. L’Acer Aspire Nitro 5 AN517 est un portable de jeu efficace . Théoriquement, le Core i7-9750H et la GeForce GTX 1660 Ti devraient fournir un système puissant, avec en outre 16 Go de RAM DDR4 double canal, et 1,5 To de stockage combinés, permettant à la machine d’être fluide. Malheureusement l’écran 1080p n’est pas à la hauteur d’un portable de jeu, avec ses temps de réponse lents et ses déviations DeltaE élevées.

Comme nous nous y attendions, le Nitro 5 s’avère suffisamment puissant pour faire tourner tous les jeux triple A récents. Mais cela n’est vrai que lorsque l’appareil est branché, le CPU et le GPU étant tous deux bridés sur batterie. Le Nitro 5 devient alors un portable pour la bureautique – mais cela est vrai pour beaucoup de portables de jeu modernes.

Le design largement en plastique, bien qu’étant robuste et bien construit, divisera, le Nitro 5 paraissant moins cher que ses concurrents en métal. Mais une conception en plastique peut être un bon compromis pour avoir de bonnes performances de jeu.

Dans tous les cas, le Nitro 5 se démarque des concurrents par sa consommation étonnamment faible, consommant plus comme un ultrabook que comme un portable de jeu. Notre machine tire donc bien profit de sa batterie de 57 Wh, peu de machines comparables se rapprochant de son autonomie dans nos tests.

Malheureusement, le thermal throttling s’est avéré être un problème lors de nos tests, le Nitro 5 bridant son processeur quand nous le sollicitons avec la carte graphique. De même, Acer a équipé le Nitro avec le minimum de ports, ce qui est décevant. Le DisplayPort et un lecteur de carte SD auraient été les bienvenus, surtout vu le niveau d’espace libre entre les ports. Pire, le port USB C ne prend pas non plus en charge le DisplayPort, réduisant les possibilités de connecter le Nitro 5 à un moniteur externe via ce format vidéo.

L’Acer Aspire Nitro 5 AN517 est un bon portable de jeu à prix contenu qui fait bien les choses, en particulier avec son autonomie et sa consommation. Ses ventilateurs trop présents et aigus, ses temps de réponse et sa conception en plastique pourront cependant en rebuter certains.

Dans l’ensemble, Acer propose un portable de jeu de 17,3 pouces efficace et abordable avec des composants au goût du jour. Alors qu’il n’est pas possible de faire évoluer le CPU ou le GPU, le Core i7-9750H et la GTX 1660 Ti sont assez puissants pour au moins un an de jeu triple A.
