Lenovo laisse de côté l’originalité de sa série Yoga, en proposant le Yoga S730-IWL non convertible, au moins en Europe et en Asie - l’appareil étant appelé IdeaPad 730s-13IWL au Canada est aux États-Unis. Avec les IdeaPad 710s-13ISK et 720s-13IKB, Lenovo essayait déjà de concurrencer le Dell XPS 13, mais le concept s’affaiblit avec le S730-13IWL.

Lenovo fait trop de compromis avec le Yoga S730-13IWL, ce qui le rend moins bon que les meilleurs ultrabooks compacts que Lenovo essaye de proposer.

Certains changements sont cependant les bienvenus, comme le châssis premium en aluminium, confortable à tenir en main en étant plus fin que sur les précédents modèles. De plus, nous félicitons Lenovo d’intégrer trois ports USB C, dont deux Thunderbolt 3. Situés de chaque côté de l’appareil, cela permet de le charger d’un côté ou de l’autre, ce qui apporte pas mal de souplesse d’utilisation.

L’écran est également bien meilleur, avec une couverture de l’espace colorimétrique élevée et pas de MLI. Le clavier possède également un bon retour, même s’il n’est pas du niveau de ceux des ThinkPad. De même, nous apprécions le trackpad en verre, tandis que l’intégration d’un SSD Samsung PM981 est louable, s’agissant du meilleur des SSD NVMe actuels. Enfin, la charnière qui s’ouvre à 180° est pratique, d’autant que l’on est plus habitués à en avoir dans les séries pros plutôt que dans les séries grand public.

Malheureusement, l’appareil possède des défauts, la plupart liés à son châssis fin. La batterie est petite, ce qui débouche sur une autonomie décevante. De même, l’absence d’USB A pourra en gêner certains, tout comme l’absence de version avec carte graphique dédiée. De plus, Lenovo a équipé l’appareil d’un unique ventilateur, ce qui entraîne un thermal throttling conséquent. Nous aurions également apprécié une version avec écran 4K et une autre avec écran mat, la finition brillante attirant les traces de doigts et les reflets. De plus, la carte Wifi est à la traîne pour un appareil à ce prix, tandis que le coil whine peut devenir gênant sur le long terme.

Le Lenovo Yoga S730-13IWL est un appareil dans l’ensemble honnête, mais qui ne peut être recommandé sur ses concurrents. Il est efficace dans de nombreux domaines, mais des appareils comme le Dell XPS 13 9370 sont plus complets et polyvalents, tandis que d’autres concurrents comme le HP Envy 13 ont des versions 4K ou avec GPU dédiés. En bref, nous conseillons de jeter un œil aux meilleurs appareils de notre comparatif avant d’acheter le Lenovo Yoga S730-13IWL.
