Intel Comet tue les stations de travail ultraportables. Nouveau nom, nouveau design. HP veut rendre sa série ZBook Firefly de stations de travail ultraportables plus séduisante avec cette nouvelle itération. Mais le constructeur américain est ralenti par le processeur et la carte graphique choisis, parce qu'ils sont tous les deux datés. Dommage, le ZBook Firefly 15 G7 étant une bonne station de travail pour les tâches de CAO légères.

Verdict - Le HP ZBook Firefly est bon sans en faire assez

Un nouveau nom seul ne suffit pas pour une révolution - c'est pourquoi HP a aussi changé le design de sa station de travail ultraportable ZBook Firefly 15 G7, qui possède des qualités et des défauts.

Sa force : son nouveau châssis, bien plus compact qu'avant. Mais l'on perd le port de docking dédié et la connexion ethernet RJ45. Pour compenser, il y a un port Thunderbolt 3 supplémentaire, mais toujours pas de lecteur de carte (micro) SD. Pas de changement notable en ce qui concerne les périphériques d'entrée, le châssis en métal et l'acran 4K - le ZBook Firefly est d'un excellent niveau dans ces domaines, même si la dalle LCD 4K ne couvre pas totalement d'espace colorimétrique.

Concernant les composants, les deux emplacements de RAM sont intéressants, puisqu'on peut monter jusqu'à 64 Go. Le processeur et la carte graphique sont moins séduisants : s'ils ne déméritent pas face à la concurrence directe, ils sont tout simplement bien trop âgés. Pour le CPU, nous aimerions avoir une version avec la série Ryzen 4000 d'AMD, tandis que la Quadro P520 doit être remplacée en urgence par une nouvelle version basée sur la GeForce MX450. Au moins nous pouvons mettre en avant le faible niveau sonore et la bonne autonomie. Mais la chauffe est trop élevée à notre goût.

Bon, mais cher et un peu daté, et sans option AMD : voilà le HP ZBook Firefly 15 G7.

Au final, le HP ZBook Firefly 15 G7 est une bonne station de travail pour les tâches de CAO simples. Les firmes abonnées à HP qui auraient besoin d'un PC portable pour ce genre de tâches ne feront pas d'erreur en choisissant ce portable HP. Mais dans les autres cas il vaut mieux se tourner vers une version AMD Ryzen 4000, ou attendre une version avec Intel Tiger Lake et un nouveau GPU Quadro.
