The cast is led by an Intel Core 2 Duo T5800 running at 2.0GHz with an 800MHz front-side bus. This is fast enough to easily handle any software you'd want to use on a notebook like this. As to memory, 3GB of DDR2 RAM is as much as the installed 32-bit version of Windows Vista Premium can handle. In a nutshell: if you're looking for a cheap and simple family laptop with reasonable speakers, the Dell Inspiron 1545 is worth considering. However, appalling battery life really hampers an otherwise solid but unspectacular effort that is inferior to the model it replaces.

This model has a lush widescreen and isn't too big, and the glossy shell looks nearly as good as the Apple aesthetic it apes. At about $934 (as of March 9, 2010) when it isn't on sale, the 1564 is a reasonably priced all-purpose laptop with a substantially more than adequate chunk of silicon at its heart.

The Intel Core i5-520M in our review unit may almost be a bit too much for a unit that otherwise seems fairly stripped down, but otherwise the overall build is well-rounded. Basée au Texas, Dell emploie plus de 82.700 personnes dans le monde (2009). En 2006, Dell a acheté le fabricant de matériel d'ordinateur Alienware. Dans la plupart des pays, les ordinateurs portables sont vendus directement aux consommateurs par Dell et chaque portable configuré sur mesure est assemblé en fonction d'une sélection d'options. La part de marché en ce qui concerne les ventes d'ordinateurs personnels en 2007 (étude de marché IDC): HP 18,9%, Dell 16,4%, Acer 9,9%, Lenovo 7,5%, Apple 5,7%.
La plupart des jeux pas trop demandants actuels peuvent tourner de façon fluide. soyez prêts à endurer un rendu graphique assez moche à cause de la basse résolution et des détails au minimum. Par ailleurs ces cartes sont suffisantes pour un travail de bureau et le visionnage de vidéos (pas évident pour la vidéo HD).
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500MHD: Carte graphique intégrée (Mémoire partagée) livrée avec le chipset GM45(Montevina). Grâce à deux shaders de plus et une vitesse plus élevée, beaucoup plus rapide que la GMA X3100. Mais toujours pas envisageable pour les joueurs (Les jeux DirectX 10 ne seront pas jouable ou alors à de très faibles résolutions). Le processeur vidéo permet de décoder la HD (AVC/VC-2/MPEG2) , pour la lecture BluRay sur des processeurs plus lents.
Ces cartes devraient être capables de faire tourner tout les jeux d'aujourd'hui, mais la plupart d'entre eux uniquement en détails moyens ou faibles et avec des résolution basses. Les plus vieux jeux ou les jeux moins gourmands restent jouables avec de beaux graphismes.
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330:
Radeon 4530 plus lentement cadencée, avec une consommation de courant de 7 watts (selon AMD). Prend en charge DirectX 10.1 et Avivo HD, pour l'accélération vidéo HD.

Intel Core 2 Duo:
C'est le successeur du Core Duo avec des pipelines 5-20% plus rapides sans consommation supplémentaire. Comme une addition à la conception du core duo là existe un quatrième décodeur, une SSE-unité amplifiée et une unité logique arithmétique additionnelle (ALU). Le core 2 duo pour ordinateurs portables est identique aux processeurs de core 2 duo d'ordinateur de bureau mais les portables fonctionnent avec des tensions inférieures et une vitesse de Frontside. L'exécution des portables également synchronisés est 20-25% inférieure à des ordinateur de bureau en raison de fréquence d’horloge inférieure de Frontside et plus lents de disques durs.
T6400:
Dual core Penryn bas de gamme avec seulement 2 Mo de cache de niveau 2 et une fréquence faible.
SU7300:
Dual Core peu gourmand en énergie avec un TDP de 10 Watts.
Intel Core i3:
330M: Le Core i3-330M est un 350M plus lent sans Turbo Boost avec une fréquence max de 2.13 GHz. Avec l'Hyperthreading, 4 coeurs sont virtuellement disponibles. La carte graphique intégrée (GMA HD 3150) et un contrôleur mémoire DDR3 intégré sont inclus.
Intel Pentium Dual Core: Version à un noyau du duo core et successeur du Pentium M d'Intel ; En raison des 65nm de réduction, structurer une plus petite consommation de courant égale par rapport au Pentium M (au maximum 27 watts) ; l'exécution est comparable au Pentium M (légèrement plus rapide en raison de quelques améliorations).
T4400: Dual core d'entrée de gamme avec 1 Mo de cache de niveau 2 sans les instructions de virtualisation. Comparé aux Core 2 Duo et certaines fonctions d'économie d'énergie sont désactivées.
Intel Core i5:
480M:
Le Core i5-480M ne possède que 3 Mo de cache L3 (comparé aux I7-620M) avec une fréquence entre 2.66-2.9 GHz (Turbo Mode). Avec l'Hyperthreading, 4 cœurs sont gérés virtuellement. Une carte graphique intégrée (GMA HD) et un contrôleur DDR3 dans le CPU.
15.6: Les écrans de 15 pouces sont la norme et sont employées sur plus de la moitié de tous les portables.
La raison pour laquelle tant de personnes possèdent des écrans de taille moyenne: cette taille n'est pas épuisante pour les yeux, n'a pas besoin de trop de courant et les ordinateurs portables peuvent rester tout à fait compacts.
