Courte critique de l'ultraportable Huawei MateBook D 14 W50F (Core i5-8250U, UHD 620, FHD, SSD)

De bureau ou professionnel ? Le Huawei MateBook D 14 W50F est à cheval sur deux catégories. Le châssis élégant et les nombreuses fonctionnalités de sécurité le mettent dans la catégorie des portables pros chers. Mais Huawei a préinstallé Windows 10 Home, et a équipé l’appareil de peu de ports, ce qui met le W50F dans la catégorie des portables de bureau bon marché. Mais le véritable défaut de l’appareil n'est pas lié à sa classification.

Scintillement / MLI (Modulation de largeur d'impulsion)

Afin d'abaisser la luminosité de l'écran, certains ordinateurs portables font varier très rapidement le rétroéclairage entre éteint et allumé. La fréquence à laquelle le rétroéclairage s'éteint et se rallume est normalement fixée à une valeur qui permet de rendre la variation indétectable à l'œil nu? Si la fréquence est trop basse, certaines personnes peuvent être sujettes à une fatigue oculaire, des maux de tête ou même percevoir les variations.
Scintillement / MLI (Modulation de largeur d'impulsion) décelé 200 Hz ≤ 90 Niveau de luminosité

Le rétroéclairage de l'écran scintille à la fréquence de 200 Hz (certainement du fait de l'utilisation d'une MDI - Modulation de largeur d'impulsion) à un niveau de luminosité inférieur ou égal à 90 % . Aucun scintillement ne devrait être perceptible au-dessus de cette valeur.

La fréquence de rafraîchissement de 200 Hz est relativement faible, les personnes les plus sensibles devraient percevoir un scintillement et être sujettes à une fatigue oculaire accrue (avec le niveau de luminosité indiqué)

En comparaison, 53 % des appareils testés n'emploient pas MDI pour assombrir leur écran. Nous avons relevé une moyenne à 8933 (minimum : 43 - maximum : 142900) Hz dans le cas où une MDI était active.

Nous avons décidé de classer le Huawei MateBook D 14 W50F dans la catégorie des portables de bureau premium, même si cela n’influence pas sa note. Le W50F possède un châssis compact avec des finitions réussies, ainsi que des fonctionnalités de sécurité utiles. Mais nous ne sommes pas de grands fans de son clavier, ni de son écran médiocre ou de sa connectivité réduite. De plus, le choix d’équiper l’appareil d’un SSD SATA III est discutable même pour un portable à 500 €, alors pour un portable à 999 €…

Le Huawei MateBook D 14 W50F est un portable de bureau compact et fiable, avec plein de bons arguments. Malheureusement, il pêche dans certains domaines, en particulier en ce qui concerne son écran.

Le modèle W60B plus cher, avec une GeForce MX150 et un Core i7-8550U, fera un meilleur concurrent au MSI PS42 8RB Prestige. Le MateBook D 14 W60B est plus petit et moins cher, mais le MSI est plus léger et possède un écran bien meilleur. Le Lenovo IdeaPad 720s-13IKB possède quant à lui un port Thunderbolt 3 que certains exigent, et le HP EliteBook 745 G5 obtient un meilleur score, en partie grâce à ses ports supplémentaires, et à sa licence Windows 10 Pro. Au final, le Huawei MateBook D 14 W50F est un bon appareil qui parvient à tenir tête à la concurrence.
