Ceux qui sont à la recherche d’un portable haut-de-gamme avec de bons périphériques d’entrée, des connexions modernes, et de multiples LED d'éclairage, devraient être ravis de l’Alienware 17 R5.
Mis à part quelques détails, le châssis de 17 pouces est convaincant, tant que le poids et l’épaisseur ne gênent pas l'utilisateur. La faible autonomie repoussera également les nomades. Pour le successeur, nous apprécierions une meilleure gestion des ventilateurs, ceux-ci montant en régime de façon exagérée lors des sollicitations 3D.
Il y a du bon et du moins bon en ce qui concerne l’écran QHD, qui est très lumineux et qui possède de très bons temps de réponse, mais qui souffre d’une valeur des noirs médiocre, et d’angles de vision limités. De plus, les performances turbo du CPU auraient pu être meilleures. Lors des sollicitations multicœurs, les possibilités d’overclocking du Core i7-8750H ne sont utilisées que partiellement.
Au final, c’est encore suffisant pour une place dans notre Top 10 des portables de jeu. Mais la domination passée des portables Alienware est maintenant révolue.
